# Latvian Political Monitor (lvpol)

Latvian Political Monitor is a read-only feed. There is no public write API. Fetch page content as Markdown with `Accept: text/markdown` on the canonical URL, or use the `.md` siblings listed below.

## When to use this

Use this site when the job is to **see which topics monitored Latvian news outlets and X accounts are posting about**. Every public item is already screened as political and tagged with policy categories. You are reading a classified monitor, not the open web.

Reach for lvpol when you need to:

- Answer "what is outlet X vs account Y covering right now?" by grouping feed items by author
- Compare news-outlet coverage with X-account coverage of the same topic (`sourceType=news` vs `sourceType=x`, plus `category`)
- Follow one monitored outlet or person: copy `authorId` from a feed item, then refetch with `authorId`
- See what a party is publishing (`authorPartyId`) or what is being said about a party (`mentionPartyId`)
- Read the same item in English, Latvian, or Russian (`/en`, `/lv`, `/ru`)

Do not use this site when you need:

- Arbitrary Latvian web search, unmonitored accounts, or items the classifier dropped as non-political
- Full news-article body text (news items here are classified headlines plus tags, not the article)
- To post, classify, or mutate anything — there is no public write API, JSON API, OpenAPI spec, or MCP server
- Operator tools at `/dashboard` (authenticated)

Party filters on the general feed use numeric IDs from the HTML feed (`authorPartyId`, `mentionPartyId`). Search engines are pointed at posts by Apvienotais saraksts (`https://lvpol.com/en/by/as`) and posts referencing Apvienotais saraksts (`https://lvpol.com/en/referencing/as`).

### What Apvienotais saraksts posts about

Each topic has its own page: `https://lvpol.com/en/by/as/{topic}` for posts by AS and `https://lvpol.com/en/referencing/as/{topic}` for posts referencing AS. Topic slugs are the category IDs with hyphens instead of underscores: education, budget, investments, health, migration, defense, bureaucracy, agriculture-forestry, infrastructure, social-support, culture, digitalization, security, energy. Example: `https://lvpol.com/en/by/as/defense.md`.
