@io7246 I was in Georgia with a delegation of the Saeima Internal Affairs and Defence Committee less than a year after Saakashvili's overthrow, and I assume that people of that level, whom we met, knew what they were talking about. They did raise salaries, but only after cleaning up the ranks. And I saw the mentioned apartments 'in real life' as well.
@karlis_serzants Interesting, who knows better what happened there: Georgian master's students who just finished their bachelor's at Tbilisi University, or you after 20 years here, in Latvia?
Many (a whole 3 people) ask me - who to vote for. I want to believe and hope that @AndrisKulbergs will succeed in the next act. Our 4 votes will then go to the Apvienotais Saraksts.
@katrinailjinska@andris_brauns@AndrisKulbergs as a person who is somewhat knowledgeable about tariffs and energy issues 😎 I want to point out - the prime minister can influence heating tariffs only in an illegal way 😎☝️ whereas the systemic changes that @AndrisKulbergs talked about objectively take time, and they are already happening - for example changes in the auctions
@AndrisKulbergs The state gives nothing without first having taken. Every "we will give" is also "we will take", and you can only take from those who have — the hardworking, the skilled, the successful. It is strange that the promise to slow down those who create value seems attractive to many.

@io7246 No, Saakashvili started by actually firing all the road police officers, and the rest understood that it could happen to them too. That did not stop the new interior minister from setting up a luxurious apartment with a gym and a jacuzzi for himself on the top floor of the ministry building.
Salaries for delusional bureaucrats must be halved and the money given back to the police. My Georgian students told me how Saakashvili stopped corruption on the roads in Georgia! Georgia! Saaka did it by increasing police salaries 3x! https://t.co/U7v4nSYiKG
Election finish is near! IR has a summary of the most important things:
⁉️ Answers of 7 parties' PM candidates to 7 important questions,
🧐 analysis of coalition versions, Šlesers is rather hopeless,
🧐 what will the new Saeima do with the Istanbul Convention? Probably nothing, hotheads are wriggling out. https://t.co/sjilSeZJ1w
Re:Check today ends the pre-election marathon, in which we followed the statements of the 15th Saeima candidates. We listened to them on social media, in interviews and debates, and checked a large number of statements. We found several dozen to be false or otherwise misleading. Here is a summary. https://t.co/1Ilbdlj3fS
I was [there] to wish. Everything was fine except that the polling station uses Mozhga rulers that are made in the Russian city of Mozhga. Where is @liana_langa looking?????? https://t.co/WNIB18ywJr
The governing parties hope to continue working as a four-party coalition after the elections. If a majority still cannot be formed, the uncomfortable question will no longer be avoidable — will oligarch Ainārs Šlesers return to government after a nearly 20-year break?

Thank you @DienaLv for exposing the amorality of the Progressives... The Progressives themselves this spring proposed amendments to the Children's Rights Protection Law in the Saeima to ban adults in positions of authority from having intimate relationships with young people aged 16 to 18. https://t.co/q2mJ0Ofuxq
Thank you to everyone who has already entrusted their vote to 'We Change the Rules'. The growing support and trust can be felt. A journalist asked a couple of days ago (approximately): 'But where is the guarantee that you will do what you promise?' And I answered: 'Where is the guarantee that a marriage vow will not be broken?'
There are no guarantees. It is a commitment. Its success depends on the one who makes the promise just as much as on all the witnesses to the commitment.
Our commitment is our pre-election programme. Our commitment is not pretty faces on the walls of houses, reporting facts that confirm stagnation, or stringing together beautiful sentences on command. Our commitment is not about deciding exactly what the crowd likes. It is no secret that for many, our programme is not and will not be to their liking. Our programme is not the result of a crowd vote. Our programme is our proposal for what we believe Latvia needs so that it does not come to an end. So that Latvia becomes a country in which we want to live and prove it with large families. Others now have the opportunity to decide whether they support this bold proposal.
In our view, Latvia needs drastic changes. Both in the way decision-makers are determined, more broadly in state administration, and in every player in the game. This is about changing the rules, and the rules apply to everyone. Our intention is a transition from redistribution of benefits created by others to creating an environment in which people can create benefits themselves. From being demanders to becoming doers.
Our commitment is to change the logic of decision-making in state administration. From left to right. From irresponsible dissolution in procedures to specific, individual, traceable responsibility. To traceable funding and traceable results. To demand accountability, there must be freedom of action. And we are the only freedom party. Down with restrictions, down with state interference in all spheres of life.
For us to hold to our commitment, voters must not only go to the polls tomorrow and vote for us, but also help us implement the programme in the coming years. The struggle for power is quite ruthless. There is competition, there are temptations. Propensity for intrigue, various personality quirks cloud minds and fuel division. Not everyone is an idealist, not everyone is ideological, but reality is revealed only through deeds and hardships. The pre-election programme and our ideological basis are what and how we commit to doing and judging. The voters' insistent demand for its implementation is the only thing that can keep us on the narrow path and prevent us from becoming an interest group to which opportunists stick and which human weakness corrupts.
After the election, we will need all of Latvia's smartest minds. It is clear that our party's ranks will also grow. I ask for your vote and help to protect Alvis Hermanis's idea. Elections are about an idea and about the brave people who undertake to defend that idea with your help. Vote for the idea, and especially for those whom you believe are ready to fall for it.
Tomorrow I want to give my vote to one of the new parties (ASL or MMN). Even if they don't make it into the Saeima, at least let them exceed 2% and get funding for the next elections. Why not?
