@aiga_balode JKP is center-right. But it's easier for radicals to polish their feathers. LPV and PRO are pouring water on each other's mills, both ratings rise, although the offering is not so powerful and well-thought-out.

In Latvia, by the way, there is a fairly free niche for a centrist party, when JV ends. 😊 The conservative end is overcrowded - NA, ZZS, MMN, ASL, JKP, and to the left there are only Pro and a bunch of Russian-speaking. I don't know where ZZS will go together with the social democrats. I also don't know where AS is, because they have no ideology at all - some conservative, others liberal.

Good evening! I understand that while doing other things I missed a huge party. But I also had a 'party', I wrote about the latest IT project, this time DigiSoc, where millions were spent, it exists on paper, accepted from CFLA as ready, but in reality no one uses it not only because it doesn't work, but also because they don't even intend to use it, because they 'don't want to take a step back'. There everything is beautiful again, again there will be something for @KNABinforme not to detect... https://t.co/AIKrrNNHWE

@atihomirovs @KKultuura not for nothing in the old days there was an iron principle that you cannot make a person with no executive experience an MP.

@JurgisLiepnieks @KKultuura I listened to the interview with Broks and Kulbergs. I have the feeling that this person has discovered what absolutely everyone interested in politics already knows before entering the MP's seat. That you have to cooperate, that you can't give orders, that there will be no KPIs and so on. Being a good opposition deputy means nothing yet.

Not even an hour passed and Didzis's not-so-complicated prophecy was fulfilled 100%. Komsomolka @Braze_Baiba is, pardon, knocked down from the tallest palm in Brussels.... Now @AndrisKulbergs will have the opportunity to decide on the need for a stake....:) Or does @JurgisLiepnieks remember when a Latvian foreign minister has ever failed so stupidly because of election posing? https://t.co/NUZUjduA2u

Stepanenko wants to grant Latvian citizenship to all Russian non-citizens. Wants to naturalize vata. So the naturalization requirements/level must be raised very strongly. We must definitely review how previous recipients lawfully acquired citizenship. There are justified suspicions that some have fictitious citizenship.

Will the next Saeima allocate money for science? Voter Toms asked this to Arvils Ašeradens, the "New Unity" candidate for prime minister. 🗳️ Before the elections, the "Ir" editorial office gathered young people who explained what issues concern them and what they expect from the next Saeima. They also had the opportunity to ask politicians questions that interest them. Follow other candidates' answers on our social networks! I congratulate @janisdombrava - the comprehensive immigration restriction plan has been adopted! The hundred conclusions of the Saeima investigative committee have been turned into concrete measures that now need to be implemented. Stricter supervision of legal migration and foreign students, prevention of illegal migration, orderly removal procedures and increased capacity of the internal affairs services. The plan has been adopted - that is very good! But an adopted plan is not yet an implemented plan. Now comes the most important part: implementation of the plan!

It wasn't easy, but we did it! The comprehensive immigration restriction plan has been adopted! Work on the comprehensive immigration plan began already in the Saeima parliamentary investigation committee, where we identified problems in the migration system and prepared more than a hundred conclusions and recommendations. We continued this work at the Interior Ministry, turning the recommendations into concrete measures – from stricter control of legal migration and foreign students to more effective prevention of illegal migration, removal procedures and strengthening the capacity of internal affairs services. The review of the issue was postponed, there were objections and disagreements, but the most important thing is the result – the comprehensive immigration plan has been adopted! Now the most important thing is to ensure that the measures envisaged in the plan are also actually implemented.

"Every time I come back, there are more and more of them." In the evenings the streets are becoming more and more unsettling. City streets now serve immigrant groups more, while our own women prefer to stay home in the evenings https://t.co/EyQL3c9C8q

Illustrative survey. Everything there is logically understandable. In politics, the bulk is grey, hopefully no objection to this? Well, if not, then let's look at the survey results. 68% of respondents say that those in power are either dishonest in the sense of mainly looking after their own pocket, or honest and incompetent. And both are absolutely right! The ABCs of economics are about every/any person thinking first of themselves. So inevitably all plumbers and all MPs also think first of themselves. Anyone. One may call that 'dishonest', but everyone thinks about their own wallet as a priority. Honest/dishonest/smart or not particularly. Anyone. That is why there is always broad support for any 'give me my money back' initiatives. That is also why referendums on taxes are not allowed anywhere. It is only about people's natural nature. Dishonest? Yes, perhaps, humanity could have differed more from monkeys. And 51% acknowledge this simple truth. Then another 17% of respondents say that people in power are not dishonest (relative to the evaluator himself). Just incompetent. That overlaps with the first - there really are very many incompetent ones, which accordingly means that they are left only to think about their salary. But what can they do, dear people? Well, if a poor fellow can't manage, then only the first remains - to claw up to a salary, as an MP or a night guard, and why not strive for the well-paid and non-backbreaking job of an MP? Who would choose to work more and receive less? Why wouldn't that monkey climb that tree? Humanly natural. The survey shows that 68% agree with me. The majority understands the basics. And who are that 5%? They are the politicians themselves (they like to bask on TV, have an elevated level of narcissism and therefore a grand opinion of themselves). Then let's add their relatives, and another part of society is the un-grown Origo children. Happy, at least some of them. And what then is that 14%? They are the Lucky Bear seekers. They don't understand that no one individually can exercise power in proportional democracy as would be possible in autocracy. Or in a presidential system (Argentina's Milei). But in a proportional democracy, where every post has its own boss and evaluation committee, one can only advance slowly and with heavy effort, gradually. But Lucky Bear seekers don't like that - where is my happiness, and already tomorrow, eh? 🙂

In the August WEB survey we repeated a question that has been asked many times. But I did not make a dynamics chart, because this time the respondent set is slightly different (1205 resp. Latvian citizens, 18+). The results are splendid and predictable in advance – only a few give appreciative assessments. #velesanas2026 https://t.co/arweVhsQ3F

The answers are “slippery”. Deputy candidates compete in eloquence over whether retaining compensation for deputies would be useful.

@Arteiko @LV_visiem @ltvzinas @lsmlv @baibzuze @austsaule @JKP_partija There should, of course, also be state-funded places in the humanities. How many is debatable. But without an intelligentsia, a nation-state cannot exist.

@RaivisZeltits @LV_visiem @ltvzinas @lsmlv @baibzuze @austsaule @JKP_partija Should philosophy studies in Latvia be paid from the state budget? (I myself write this as a VFF graduate.)
