Many state administration workers will have their salaries frozen next year, including the prime minister (3)
Braže has raised the EU sanctions topic, including the lifting of sanctions on Usmanov, Fridman, postponing it by 2 weeks. Because who in the EU knows that on 3.10 elections and JV ratings are in the toilet... But on 5.10, you're welcome, Mr. Usmanov! 'Kisses, Alister, your JV!' https://t.co/zjsaECyzM6
From@JorgeLiboreiroLatvia has proposed a two-week extension of the sanctions list as a compromise. Meaning, until after the country's elections. https://t.co/PpkawcUzxf

Two Russian oligarchs Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman, who has close ties to Pyotr Aven. All are close to the Kremlin elite and Putin. Latvia must use its veto rights to keep these people on the sanctions list. https://t.co/ndowW8jD1T
From@suvajevsLatvia must use its veto rights on the possible removal of Fridman/Usmanov from the sanctions list. Currently, not only must sanctions against Russia be strengthened, but Fridman's ties with Aven must be taken into account. Softening sanctions would be a threat to Latvia's security. https://t.co/vcwpe0lYBO

From@PStrautinsRT @PStrautins: The decision to reduce the fuel price by 20 cents is wrong in more ways than I have time to list, here are only the main ones. - In this way, the government says it takes responsibility for fluctuations in world market prices, making a future promise that will be impossible to keep, knowing demographic trends, etc. A problem has been created where there was none. - Latvia does not have a purchasing-power crisis. Even three euros per litre would be a lower fuel price relative to income than it was in 2011–2013. The state should intervene when fundamental rights and basic needs are threatened. With credible ~5% inflation at the end of the year, overall purchasing power will be the same as it was at the end of last year. Only a temporary pause in purchasing-power growth after a sharp rise in the previous three years threatens. - A fiscally neutral reduction of fuel taxes is impossible. The rise in import costs has already reduced consumer spending on other goods, and thus tax revenue from them; moreover, the state itself is a large fuel buyer. Higher VAT revenue due to rising fuel prices does not compensate for that. The budget deficit is already rather too large; there is no need to panic about it, but one must be careful. - Such a decision sends the wrong signal to car buyers, encouraging choices that will cost them more in the future, and will also hinder achievement of climate-policy goals, which in turn can cost the state dearly.

On the issue of fuel costs, in my opinion, the best solution right now is a reduction in VAT. https://t.co/kyWoxLZcXe
From@ltvzinas“Without a common solution to fuel price reduction, we will not be competitive with our neighbors,” Minister of Agriculture Uldis Augulis (ZZS) said in an interview on “Rīta Panorāma”, noting that in his opinion the right solution would be a VAT reduction. 🖥️ https://t.co/BoHLxxDc3F https://t.co/Y3OJJM3fPl
