📣 We continue our conversation series, but this time about politics not only from the Saeima tribune, but also behind the scenes. 🎙️ This time I talked with @RaivisDzintars, who was the head of @VL_TBLNNK from 2010 to 2024, is a 14th Saeima deputy and chairman of the National Alliance's Saeima faction. 💬 In this part of the conversation we talked about how politics is actually made and how easy or difficult it is for a politician to make decisions. Is there enough freedom in politics? Is it possible to achieve the goals you initially set when entering politics? How to build cooperation with representatives of other political forces? We also talked about a politician's daily life, including whether Saeima sessions are always time well spent, how a person's life changes after leaving politics, and what happens to a politician when their work in parliament ends. #Nacionālāapvienība #RaivisDzintars

Stepaņenko accuses journalists of stupidity and inability to read declarations, which again and again contain errors. Section 24, Part 4 of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest states: the truthfulness of the information is confirmed by the submitter. Before assessing journalists' literacy, it would be worth checking what she herself has written. https://t.co/di2i5upWLl

Logically written, but my emphasis is elsewhere. People's way of thinking is not rational; practically no one reasons that way. They reason like this - I pay taxes, where's my free euro-renovation service for nothing! For example, the very availability of health services. The question is, first of all, about how much and what of our paid taxes we can realistically afford? Declaratively this service is 'free'. But practically it is available only to those who can stand (and for a long time) in queues. And overall in the health system, the state allocates 2 euros, we pay 1 euro from our own pocket (out of pocket expenses). That too is the service in the quality and volume we can afford. But shouting doesn't help - it's promised to be free. And here's another thing. We are a relatively poor EU country. But medical equipment costs the same everywhere. Yes, salaries are lower, but that doesn't compensate for the rest. And we will be able to afford even less if now again before the elections they drop the excise duty on fuel (realistically). But that doesn't stop people from shouting - where's my Lenin log!
From@realNepareizaisIn communism everything is free … Where is my free education? In Germany, Estonia, Finland, Norway and Poland … for locals, state higher education is largely without tuition fees. The situation with my health quotas is similar. Of course, there are queues elsewhere in Europe too. But the interesting thing is how the system acts when a patient cannot receive help in time. 🇪🇪 In Estonia, the maximum waiting time for an outpatient specialist consultation is 6 weeks. 🇸🇪 In Sweden, there is a vårdgaranti - a 90-day guarantee for specialist care. 🇩🇰 In Denmark, a patient in principle has the right to examination/diagnosis in a hospital within 30 days and treatment within 30 days; if the state system cannot meet the deadline, in certain cases a private contracted facility can also be used. 🇳🇴 In Norway, after a referral, the patient's right to specialized help must be assessed within 10 working days and, if due, an individual legally binding deadline must be set. If the deadline is violated, Helfo can help find another treatment facility. 🇱🇹 In Lithuania the system is different: with a referral you can choose a state or private treatment facility anywhere in the country if it has a contract with the sickness fund for the specific service. Since 1 May 2026, an insured patient cannot be asked for an additional co-payment for such a state-funded service, except for certain additional services chosen by the patient himself. None of these services, of course, are 'free'. People have already paid for them through taxes and social/health insurance contributions. So the question is not about communism. The question is much simpler: what does the taxpayer get in return for the taxes paid - and is state-funded medicine really available when needed.

From@VKleinbergsI’m sure we all know that the reconstruction of the Vanšu Bridge will be one of the most important construction projects in the country. This bridge is important not only for Riga residents but for all Latvians. I want to emphasize that the plans have not changed: the major reconstruction works will begin in autumn 2027, and until then no significant traffic restrictions are expected. Given the current information, the conclusion is clear — the most optimal solution is a temporary bridge. It would significantly reduce congestion, so I have instructed the department to prepare a solution for installing a temporary bridge. And until the temporary bridge is installed, I will not allow traffic to be closed. So we have a choice — either rent a temporary bridge for up to 20 million euros, or order a new one for the same amount. We concluded that it is more economically advantageous not to “burn” 20 million euros on rent, but to buy a new temporary bridge that the state could later use for its material reserves. Such a bridge would be useful not only for Riga but for the whole country, if we are talking about civil and military security. To accomplish this task, cooperation between Riga and the state is needed. That is why I have already discussed this issue with the Minister of Transport; this week I will go to the Saeima, meet with LTRK and the Ministry of Finance, and I have also sent a letter to the Prime Minister inviting him to meet and agree on cooperation. This could be a good example where the state cooperates with Riga and everyone benefits. So I am confident that agreement is possible.

From@liana_langa. @KNL_LTV1 today's program only once again confirmed to me how much Latvia needs the Declaration already submitted to the Saeima on preventing the consequences of occupation and Russification, which is one of the central goals of my policy. Then various jokers won't be able to babble about 'attacks on the Russian language,' because everyone will understand that Latvia has experienced the crime of Russification - linguicide, Russification! #AtkrieviskoLatviju https://t.co/7fdU27umCF https://t.co/Fg6lgUK2Yq

From@AndisVaic@zuravlevs @ziimulis5 @asocgimene @AndrisKulbergs @Apvienotais_ @EdvardsSmiltens @Edgars_T They put some canned picture as some kind of evidence. But then it turns out that heterosexual couples are also not allowed to adopt children, because as seen they also drink and use drugs. You also didn't answer about those wrong values that then prevent adopting a child.
