Health Minister Abu Meri survives opposition-initiated vote of confidence
From@AndrisKulbergs🇷🇺 NO TO RUSSIAN GRAIN – NO. I am pleased that the Saeima has broad support for economic restrictions on Russia. I see this as a clear mandate from the Saeima for the government to continue the work already begun. And we will continue. Decisively. Not with loud slogans, but with real actions. We will not look for excuses why something cannot be done. We will not hide behind endless approvals and waiting for others to decide in our place. Latvia itself has the tools, and they must be used. Our goal is clear – to maximally restrict the transit of Russian grain and prevent Latvia's infrastructure from helping the aggressor state's economy earn money and finance the war against 🇺🇦. Of course, one cannot help but notice the approaching elections. 😉 Suddenly the loudest fighters against Russian grain transit and seekers of 'bloody grain' are also among those who, for the past three years, while in power, could have acted themselves. Back then – excuses, hesitation, and arguments why not. Now – loud calls for the government to act. We in the government have already been acting since August. On Tuesday, a draft amendment prepared for the Cabinet of Ministers will be brought. The only difference – we will not talk, but act. 🇱🇻🤝🇺🇦

@ilmarmors Hasn't anyone openly recorded that they plan to be corrupt if there's a good opportunity? Or that they want to join Russia?
From@ilmarmorsIn the democracy front, no change. As usual - a short summary of all party programs: we are for everything good and against everything bad. 🙂

@Mikipele6 @Apvienotais_ We have been through everything and know what we are doing. Our responsible @Sat_Min is preparing the necessary decisions. On Tuesday we will look at @Brivibas36. Follow the events, less reference to ministers of another country. Thank you!
From@Mikipele6@AndrisKulbergs @Apvienotais_ Dear Mr. Kulberg! Has no one really explained to you that setting railway infrastructure tariffs is a matter of EU regulation and the government has no legal possibility to decide anything there? Today the Lithuanian Minister of Agriculture also told the media exactly that.

From@ESvirskisThe Interfront was liquidated as an unconstitutional force, because the state then had enough political will to draw the line. Today, the political role of the Interfront is taken over by “Stabilitātei!” and “Suverēnā vara”. Legal succession is not automatic, but the comparison of political discourse and activity can clearly show the political and ideological succession that can no longer be ignored. That is why this is no longer just a matter of political rhetoric, but a matter of state security: at what point does this succession grow into action against Latvia's constitutional order, which the VDD @Valsts_drosiba already has a duty to react to.

📈 Latvia's exports continue to grow – in July by 14.9% more than a year ago. In July, Latvia exported goods worth 1.78 billion euros, and total foreign trade turnover reached 4.01 billion euros. In the first seven months of the year, export value has already reached 12.22 billion euros. Exports of mechanisms, mechanical devices and electrical equipment grew particularly rapidly – by 25.5%. ✅ During Evika Siliņa's government, bureaucracy for businesses has been purposefully reduced to boost economic growth, 'green corridors' for large investment projects have been introduced, LIAA's work has been transformed to focus more on attracting investment and promoting exports, and EU fund support for business and innovation has been expanded. These decisions themselves do not explain every percentage point of export growth, but they create an environment where Latvian businesses can more easily grow, invest and compete in foreign markets. The next task is to consolidate this growth – increase productivity, attract even more investment and help Latvian businesses create more high value-added and well-paid jobs right here in Latvia.
From@edgarslabsvirsBy the way, what is the explanation for the fact that Latvia is one of the few countries for which comparable health expenditure statistics still have not been published by Eurostat even for 2024? Politics is fundamentally about sloganeering or, as I call it, flag-waving. They wave and wave. For everything good and against everything bad. A black-and-white view is a rewarded path to a deputy's mandate. But not to a statesman's position. These are very different concepts. Some quotes from Kissinger: “Prophets can preach perfection; a statesman must work with imperfect choices, because he is responsible for the consequences.” “Insistence on pure morality in itself is the most immoral pose.”
From@UpenieksJanisIn July, Latvia's goods exports increased by 14.9% — goods worth 1.78 billion euros. The fastest growth was in sales of machinery and electrical equipment. This is not just statistics, it is our economy's growth. Exports must grow — it is part of people's well-being.

From@_OrbanAnitaThank you, @Braze_Baiba, @sikorskiradek, @elinavaltonen and @HMcEntee for sharing this moment at Latvia’s Freedom Monument. For nations whose modern histories were shaped by the struggle for freedom and sovereignty, this is much more than a protocol stop. 🇱🇻🇵🇱🇭🇺🇫🇮🇮🇪 https://t.co/Ab7FIpWXhh
