Yesterday at a cooperation meeting, the advancement of the Immigration Restriction Plan submitted by Jānis Dombrava was postponed. Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs today first explains on X that he had no time to familiarise himself with the plan, even though it had been publicly available since 24 July. Apparently 39 days were too few for the prime minister to do so. A working group is also to be convened. Although it is clear to everyone that a working group is an excellent bureaucratic instrument to kill anything. In fact, we are returning to the old bureaucratic habits – not doing, but endlessly discussing. The prime minister also points out that the plan is not fully coordinated. One of those who did not coordinate is the association 'Gribu palīdzēt bēgļiem'. I very much doubt that any immigration restriction plan can be coordinated with this association, and then we cannot actually adopt anything. Later on X, Kulbergs moves to personal insults and abandons argumentation. These were not even any amendments to the law; it was a plan. A framework. A signal that the state wants to restrict immigration. Unfortunately, it seems that immigration restriction is important to many only in words, not in deeds.

As @ArtursButans said, NA has come to this coalition to work, and restricting immigration is one of NA's priorities. "That is why we also managed to have it enshrined both in the government declaration and in the action plan," said Butāns. "Now such sudden emotional objections make one think of narrow economic group interests or individual politicians' unwillingness to implement the action plan, which is unacceptable to us, so we will demand explanations from the prime minister," said Butāns. https://t.co/Inr8OEQOMJ

The Prime Minister complains that approvals are missing. Whose duty is it, if not the Prime Minister's, to ensure that the government's work moves forward? The Prime Minister is not a clerk whose job is to note that a paper is missing from some file. The Prime Minister leads the government, convenes ministers, resolves disagreements and achieves decisions. The government declaration states in black and white: restrict the issuing of long-term visas and residence permits, set the permissible number of third-country nationals and close schemes for legalising economic immigrants. Mr Prime Minister, you did not stop the 'theatre'. You yourself stalled the implementation of your own government declaration. When Interior Minister @janisdombrava has submitted concrete proposals, the Prime Minister does not organise their review and make a decision, but publicly announces that approvals are missing, and calls the work done a 'theatrical fight' and 'dull voter fishing'. Open tunnels on the border. Raids are taking place. Immigration control is being stepped up. Quotas for third-country nationals are being prepared, stricter requirements for foreign students and universities, control over employment intermediaries and liability for residence rule violations. Where exactly is the theatre here? When the Prime Minister and the Interior Minister toured the border and stood in front of cameras, that was obviously statesmanship. When uncomfortable decisions have to be made and powerful economic interests opposed, it suddenly becomes 'hysteria'. That's where the story about procedure ends. In one hand @AndrisKulbergs holds the government declaration promising to restrict the issuing of long-term visas and residence permits. In the other hand he holds proposals to keep investor temporary residence permits, the so-called 'golden visas'. The immigration restriction plan still needs at least 14 more approvals. The 'golden visa' idea apparently only needs an investment fund brochure and promises of rich sheikhs. Latvia does not need an immigration policy in which security solutions can be postponed while residence permits can again be turned into a commodity. Latvia does not need a system in which the interests of universities, labour intermediaries and various investment schemes matter more than the state's ability to control who enters Latvia, why they stay here and what they do here. If the Prime Minister objects to specific points of the plan, he should simply say so. If corrections are needed, they should be made. If ministries cannot agree, the Prime Minister should sit them at one table and reach a decision. That is exactly what the Prime Minister is paid for. Not for videos in which he publicly scolds his government's ministers and explains to the public why the government cannot do its own job. Restricting immigration is not theatre. The theatre begins when the Prime Minister promises one thing, brakes another and pushes a third.

❗️First, the prime minister must be able to distinguish a bill from an informative report. Secondly, on the TAP portal everyone can see that the immigration restriction plan has been coordinated since July 24. I call on @AndrisKulbergs, instead of emotional reproaches, to no longer postpone restricting immigration. https://t.co/hLpkgEfwB5

Continuing like this, Kulbergs will in record short time achieve that after the elections his candidacy for prime minister will no longer be relevant, even if AS becomes the winner. Which political force will want to work with such a leader?

Dombrava and Kulbergs have quarreled over who gets to fire the starter pistol for the final sprint of the pre-election campaign. It's clear that Dombrava is joking, but Kulbergs's communication with Dombrava via video on social media puts him in exactly the same category. It's just a pity that Kulbergs's arguments mark him as an obedient accomplice of the system — it's hard for Kulbergs to imagine how Latvia could demand amendments to the directive! But it is precisely in such a bold spirit that one must act. A sovereign state can act and speak back. Poland, Hungary, Italy and others do that. Those who change will survive. The changes necessary for the viability of the European Union will not be brought by some recipients of a scholarship named after Europe, "Member of the European Parliament", but by strong national governments that will bloc together driven by similar interests. If Kulbergs does not offer a way out of the old obedient schoolboy thinking, then four months will be enough.

‼️NA will call on Prime Minister Kulbergs to explain the reasons why the head of government refused to include the immigration restriction plan prepared by the Ministry of the Interior on the government's agenda and the review of the matter was postponed.

“Austošā Saule Latvijai” is the only party that will not control or grow the number of immigrants, but will actually reduce it. @RaivisZeltits and Aiva Zālīte on the main mechanisms of the anti-immigration plan. Uncomfortable for the government - needed for Latvia! List No. 12 https://t.co/dQ6olyJHyd

The people do not want stricter migration control, but rather to completely cancel the possibility of arriving from Russia, India, or Uzbekistan and similar countries. They also want those who have already arrived in Latvia to be deported. https://t.co/2EruyQop9q

To all shouters before shouting from headlines about migration, I suggest you read! The government's and my position has never changed regarding stopping uncontrolled migration. Illegal and "legally" migrants with fabricated papers have no place in Latvia. I am for deeds and action, not cheap, childish @VL_TBLNNK shouting for the sake of shouting. I expect from @janisdombrava a QUALITATIVELY prepared migration control document. I already yesterday scheduled a political ministers' meeting for Friday 12:00 to help sort it out with ministers. If Dombrava is not ready to simply prepare a document for consideration by the Council of Ministers, then he can only blame his own inability to be a good minister.

The only country where immigrants built prosperity was the USA. Europeans built a country to live in. The same, Danish data shows that migration worsens welfare and is an additional burden on the budget. Enough telling that it will be different for us. Not even mentioning the violence and crime that follow migrants.

As Prime Minister Kulbergs would say, the report is sh…, because I would even say anti-state. Why? Please - Indeed, the report provides a well-founded assessment of the load on state institutions and security risks at the EU external border, however the proposed restrictive framework contains significant economic and legal risks for Latvia's development! The introduction of general quantitative quotas and disproportionate burdens on study and work migration reduce the country's competitiveness, slow economic growth and contradict European Union law. Migration management consistent with the long-term interests of the national economy requires abandoning absolute numerical caps, replacing them with flexible, sector-demand-based monitoring and a 'green corridor' system for trusted employers. Upon receiving a temporary residence permit, this person will never receive a permanent residence permit, unless they have passed the state language exam and have lived in the country for at least 5 years continuously without violating the law. In higher education, it is essential to preserve university autonomy and export capacity, ensuring targeted quality supervision rather than introducing comprehensive proportion restrictions. To reduce the administrative burden in public administration, priority should be given to digital integration of institutions and automatic data exchange, avoiding resource-intensive in-person registration procedures. State security interests and economic development must work in synergy, ensuring sustainable and internationally competitive national growth, not the proposed 'Dombrava' variant – returning to moss village laws. That is my opinion.

🎯💪 Thanks @janisdombrava, who as a minister advances initiatives that matter to the public, not to money bags! 🇱🇻 https://t.co/XPPgUy8xcK

🎯 Overall, the absolute majority of 87% of Latvian residents aged 18 to 65 have indicated that they are concerned about the increasing number of immigrants in Latvia from countries that are not EU member states! 💪🚓

❗️❗️❗️ @AndrisKulbergs and @LTRK_uznemeji and other employer associations! Stop opposing @janisdombrava's anti-immigration plan and hoping that Latvia's economy will be saved by cheap labor. 🇩🇪Germany's and 🇬🇧England's experience shows that the result is not an economic upswing but a social catastrophe. Better, together with diaspora organizations abroad, let's develop a proper plan to bring Latvians back home. It is also the responsibility of many employers, because they did not invest in their company but bought a Mercedes and paid employees under a thousand. That is also why people left. Andri Kulberg and @Edgars_T! @VARAM_Latvija is responsible for promoting reemigration. Why has it been forgotten? 🇱🇻 We must call our compatriots home, not import Uzbeks and Pakistanis! #ReemigrācijaNevisIslams

Kulbergs drags out Dombrava's migration plan, Rinkēvičs hurriedly promulgates the incomplete Migration Law, both support golden visas, and there is no talk even of increasing the investment sum (🇱🇻 as known, they are the cheapest)... what is happening, what don't we know? 🤔 https://t.co/qZcZMNwz2g
