Taking responsibility is a funny thing - when the salary exceeds 5 thousand, immunity automatically kicks in and only a kick in the backside can overcome it. This is regularly demonstrated to us by members of all sorts of boards and councils...

This lady who inexplicably obtained an associate professor degree with 2 Scopus publications, now will be LU vice-rector! Simply madness. https://t.co/zqLyVkvOf7. It is also interesting that none of these “professors” have a Google Scholar profile, because then their inability would be as clear as day.

Pashinyan rather boldly arrested Putin's friend Robert Kocharyan. According to the investigation, Kocharyan acquired state property at reduced prices and registered assets in related companies. The investigation is also checking the transfer of 56 real estate properties to Kocharyan and large money transfers to his son's name. Robert Kocharyan is the Armenian Medvedchuk. Literally Putin's main adviser on the South Caucasus. It seems there will be no more compromises - the sides have fundamentally stated their positions.

It is unclear why CIA Director John Ratcliffe came to Moscow, but numerous theories about the purpose of the visit have already emerged. Putin’s schedule was changed because of Ratcliffe’s visit. 'The president had a major event scheduled for this Tuesday - hundreds of people were preparing for it. But a couple of days ago, it was postponed,' the Kremlin said. What is notable is that, amid the prolonged wait for visits to Kyiv and Moscow by President Trump’s usual envoys on efforts to end the war in Ukraine, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, it was Ratcliffe who arrived in Moscow. Along with Marco Rubio, Ratcliffe is often described as one of the leading 'hawks' in the U.S. administration and an advocate of tougher pressure on the Kremlin. Given this, some view Ratcliffe’s visit as a warning that the U.S. could harden its position if Russia continues to refuse to end the war in Ukraine. Another theory is that the visit is connected to Russia’s escalating hybrid war against Europe. U.S. media recently reported that American intelligence agencies were warning of possible Russian attempts to attack European NATO countries in order to 'test the Alliance’s unity.' We will likely learn in the near future how the talks ended and what issues were raised - though probably only partially.

Latvia is a national state. The question can only be about how exactly the opposing opinion is defined. A specific example comes to mind related to scientific activity, where the scientist's code of ethics was essentially violated, because the scientific work contained unfounded claims that most likely reflected the author's ideological conviction. https://t.co/qbAs92JaOI

€300K for a bachelor's thesis. I'm reading the publications and methodology of the famous Bolt study. [1] For example, I read that 56 in-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted. I learned about a courier who studied to be a saxophonist, now works as an electrical engineer and does various odd jobs. If I were to evaluate it as a bachelor's thesis, I'd give it around a 9, because the authors made an effort and even made a special website: https://t.co/7y7NwIVjmz Of course, as with a bachelor's thesis, I wouldn't have high expectations for novelty and contribution to the economy or politics. But this is not a bachelor's thesis, but a state-commissioned study for €300K. And this makes me angry. I see that science lacks funding to turn students into young scientists and keep them in the field. I see that entrepreneurs are burdened with unfulfillable conditions to access research funding. But I believe that in parallel, we also fund plenty of low-quality scientific activity that serves as a social function to provide jobs for people with doctoral degrees. Since this is a state budget program, a discussion about other budget priorities is also appropriate: education, health, and security. All of which could find a use for €300K without blinking an eye. From LZP and IZM I would like to hear that they are aware of this problem and have a concrete plan for how science will serve as a driver of economic growth, health, and security, rather than an expensive toy with a social function. Of course, I view this from the perspective of an engineer, economist, entrepreneur, and politician, but I believe that society has the right to put its foot down and say: 'no - we do not want to fund such activities.' I believe that we spread science funding too thinly and do not use it enough to demand quality, excellence, and usefulness.

@atis_svinka Do you have amnesia? This has been your and the ex-coalition's responsibility, together with your friend Briškens. Everything neglected, nothing works. Now from the sidelines you start mumbling here. Shame!

In China there are 23.68 million EV charging points, but only 108 thousand gas stations (OK, that probably means close to a million pumps, but what's the difference). In July, the share of new cars sold that can only run on fuel dropped to 35% in China. I think that by the end of the decade that share will be at Norway's level. As Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, whom I consider the world's best journalist, recently wrote, in the next decade the global oil and gas industry will inevitably experience a financial collapse. The question - what will happen to Russia at that moment?

When ideology appears in the activities of officials, journalists, associations, or scientists, politicians begin to oppose them. In such an environment there is no longer room for objective truth with quality arguments. There is only a war of opinions.

It's not easy to choose among 14 lists. Each party has someone sensible and pleasant. But you have to vote with your head and heart. For those you believe in, who have experience, knowledge, and the will to change something in the country. If you vote this way, you never have to regret it, because you made the best possible choice. Read our program and study list 11. We are a good choice if you understand that the economy, education, and health are today's most important priorities. Without the economy, there will be no positive changes in demographics, no social policy, no defense. For the Development of Latvia 🎾
