Thanks to Latvia's support, Russia's normalization in sports is directly happening. At the moment when Latvia supported the release of the sports minister from sanctions. Ask your foreign minister how that happened. https://t.co/Z76iTV2id8

Russia must not be normalized by allowing it to return to the table in sports, motorsport, the Olympics, culture, and music.

Sergiy Shakun from the Ukrainian army is shocked by the Progressives' shamelessness... In Ogre, the notorious Andris Sprūds, for whom Ukraine is a project, runs up to the Ukrainians, briefly exchanges a few words, while PRO films it all and puts it in their political ad. The Ukrainian's complaint is both that he was included in a political ad without asking permission, and that this was done by a person who has never helped Ukraine. Now the Ukrainian army man demands that the Progressives remove him from their political ad. We'll see whether PRO are reasonable.

Finally, some respectable person from Ukraine correctly but without beating around the bush speaks about the Progressive scoundrels and their Kremlin influence agent Sprūds. Below - machine translation. During my stay in Latvia, a country friendly to Ukraine, where I was treated and rehabilitated, I met many Latvian residents. These were people who help Ukraine and the Ukrainian Armed Forces: ordinary citizens, business representatives, municipal representatives, as well as ministers and heads of Latvian institutions. All these meetings took place in a friendly and open atmosphere. We thanked people who donate cars, buy them, and hand over their own cars for Ukraine's needs. We also thanked the authorities for the number of ambulances handed over to Ukraine. But, as they say, there's no such thing as a tar spoon. Together with my friends Oleksii Anuleia and Roman Melnyk (Mamont), we were at the Ogre city library. We were talking when a man approached us, greeted us, and introduced himself as the former Minister of Defense of Latvia (2023–2026). We talked for literally a few minutes. I asked whether he helps Ukraine and the Ukrainian Armed Forces. I did not hear a clear answer. Later our Latvian friends told us about his political stance on the Ukrainian issue, specifically, about his statements and attitude towards Ukrainian statehood (in his opinion, Ukraine is a project, not a state). When we were leaving the library, our paths crossed again. I told him a simple thing: Latvia must unite, strengthen its state, and learn from Ukraine's experience, which today defends its independence at the cost of its citizens' lives. At that moment, his people were holding political materials from his party. As is known, elections are approaching in Latvia, so their presence at the library had an obvious political context. I also said: if you really want to help Ukraine and the Ukrainian Armed Forces, I left my phone number. But the most interesting thing happened later. After the powerful storm that swept Latvia on August 22, the next day there were problems with electricity and communications in many places. Only upon arrival in Riga did we manage to communicate normally. And today, on August 24, Ukraine's Independence Day, my Latvian friends showed me a video recording from the former defense minister's political party. And this video uses an episode from our meeting at the Ogre city library. Moreover, it shows the moment when he—a soldier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces—approaches me and greets me. I consider this unacceptable. Using my image in military uniform without my permission, using the fact of our meeting and the handshake itself in your own political advertising is at least unethical. The situation looks especially cynical if a person who, as far as I know, has provided no help to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, uses the image of a Ukrainian military serviceman in his political activities, creating the impression of supporting Ukraine. Therefore, my demand is simple and clear: Remove from the political video the episode that uses our greeting and my image. I have not given permission for my image to be used in your political advertising. If you made statements that Ukraine is a project, dare to review your position and apologize to Ukraine and Ukrainians. If you want to talk about supporting Ukraine, show it not through political videos but through concrete cases. And if you want to shake our hands, take photos, and talk, you have our contacts. There is a phone number. We are open to conversation. But using a Ukrainian military person in political advertising without his permission is unacceptable. So once again: remove this fragment from the video. This is my first and last demand.

The only reason I got into politics is to finally open Latvians' eyes - if we want to choose the best of the best members of our society as leaders, then our electoral procedure must be changed. How one can fail to understand such elementary logic is an interesting phenomenon. https://t.co/7USKenB0tU

Alvis Hermanis on improperly designed elections. If you want more capable politicians, do not hope that under the current electoral system everything can suddenly improve radically. The way deputies are elected at all must be changed. A single transferable vote electoral system must be introduced. https://t.co/M73nZbnEkn

Two ways to solve Ukraine's budget deficit in the military sphere: 1. Prevent Russia from receiving money and equipment to produce missiles 2. Solve Ukraine's ability to timely destroy ballistic missile launcher systems

Latvia’s PM Andris Kulbergs: Hormuz is giving an injection into the economy of Russia. That all ends up into missiles. That ends up on the ground of Ukraine. And we still see components involved in these missiles from the West. We have to fully stop the component sale to Russia in order for them not to build missiles, in order for us not to give so much unnecessary support for missiles back to Ukraine.

🇪🇺 citizens do not have to pay the entire war bill 🇺🇦, expenses should be covered from 🇷🇺 frozen assets in Europe. It is enough to guard them, they would suffice for 🇺🇦 a full year of warfare https://t.co/TkOUQy3c35

Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs called for Europe to use €200 billion in frozen Russian assets, saying Moscow must begin paying for its attacks on Ukraine. He argued that the financial burden of the war should not fall on EU citizens. “Why should EU citizens pay the bill for the war? The Russians should,” Kulbergs said. #Ukraine

⚡️ Sports and culture cannot be used to whitewash war crimes. Latvia’s Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs is urging Europe to block Russia’s return to the Olympics and international championships, warning that normalization erodes global support for Ukraine.

Latvia's @AndrisKulbergs backed Zelenskyy's call: 'We have to agree to use Russian frozen assets, not the EU citizens' money, but Russian assets in order to pay this bill. The bill is very high. It's huge money. Why do European citizens have to pay this bill? It's for Russia.'

The entire board and Brauna must resign! The problem with Latvian Radio is much deeper than just one editor's fault. The broadcast plays came across as mocking all the people who desperately awaited information - which roads were open, where to get water, where communications worked. @AndrisKulbergs https://t.co/ZN6dzVPdD0

Today we visited Ainars' plant nursery "Rožlejas" in Jumprava parish. In the late afternoon, there was still no electricity... The storm took care to remind us that our country has been ruled by arrogant and lazy incompetents for nearly a decade. At the infamous Latvian Radio - @lsmlv, which lazily played songs and theater during the disaster, 300 (!!!) employees are chained to chairs... To calm down before bedtime, I'm watching the English Premier League - Chelsea/Fulham. Cole Palmer is great!

The unity of the Baltic states is our strength – both in protecting democracy and the rule of law, and in ensuring accountability for violations of international law. 🤝 Today in Tallinn, together with the justice ministers of Estonia and Lithuania, we met with the Speaker of the Estonian Parliament, Lauri Husaru, to discuss issues that are currently important for all Baltic states. 🗳️ Democratic processes must be protected. Elections must be safe, fair, and trustworthy. With the increasing risks of foreign interference, disinformation, and malicious use of new technologies, the Baltic states must be able to timely prevent threats and strengthen public trust in democracy. ⚖️ Russia's aggression against Ukraine must have consequences. International crimes cannot remain unpunished. Latvia and Estonia must continue to work together to ensure that Russia feels real consequences for its aggression and that accountability is ensured for the crimes committed.

🇱🇻 Latvia’s PM Andris Kulbergs: Russia wants to return to the stage again. It wants to normalize itself. And one of the areas where we are allowing this to happen — and where we need to be very strong in Europe — concerns Russia returning to sport, to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Just two weeks ago, the federation also basically said that everything was fine, that there was nothing wrong with Russia returning to the world championships — and also returning in music and culture. We must not allow this, because this is exactly how normalization happens, and support [for Ukraine] may decrease.
