🏵️🌾On August 18, the government approved the plan for the preservation and development of the Song and Dance Festival tradition for 2026-2028. ℹ️ This is a policy planning document developed to ensure the cyclical holding of @Dziesmu_svetki and their timely preparation process. It defines the necessary action steps, responsible institutions, and already allocated funding. 💬 Culture Minister Nauris Puntulis: “The Song and Dance Festival is an affirmation of the common will for national ideals. The plan for the preservation and development of the festival tradition provides a comprehensive framework for how important it is to preserve, develop, and pass on to future generations the tradition of song and dance festivals—the core of Latvian identity. By defining comprehensive actions, we ensure that this significant tradition, which is also a UNESCO-recognized masterpiece of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, continues into a strong future. A joint action plan on the festival's future vision and organization in a single document had not been submitted to the government for two years. I had set the development of such a unified plan as one of my priority tasks, and I am pleased that it has been approved by the government.” https://t.co/t4EdHRskkr

🇱🇻🇺🇸 Latvia and the US strengthen cooperation in creating an investment-friendly environment We met with the US Ambassador to Latvia, Melisa Argirosa, to strengthen mutual cooperation, creating a safer legal environment, more effectively combating cross-border crime, and protecting investments. Latvia-US cooperation in the justice sector is a success story that has already yielded concrete results. Latvia has the experience and knowledge to be not only a recipient of support but also a strong partner for the US in combating cross-border crime and strengthening common security. Currently, new challenges are also in our focus: ➡️ sanctions evasion and financial crimes; ➡️ crimes related to crypto assets; ➡️ organized and cross-border crime; ➡️ election security and cyber threats; ➡️ investment protection and a more efficient judicial system. ⚖️ At the Ministry of Justice, we are working towards faster, higher-quality, and more predictable justice, including modernizing courts and digitalizing processes. This is not only a justice issue – it is also strengthening Latvia's business environment and investment attractiveness. I agree with the Ambassador that Latvia has many entrepreneur success stories and good examples, and we need to talk about them and highlight them more! Latvia has something to offer US investors. Our task is to make them see Latvia as a safe, stable, and predictable place to invest and develop businesses. 🇱🇻🇺🇸

Farmers will henceforth be able to use guaranteed loans also for restructuring if the farm has encountered liquidity problems. The aim is to help our farmers overcome difficulties in tough times and continue their work.

politician woke up @atis_svinka rightly writes that we should talk about AirBaltic's strategic value. Pity that at the time when he was a minister, he did not talk about it with the public. He himself came up with a letter of expectation, after which now he is rushing. That letter of expectation must be thrown in the trash along with the AB council chairman - liar Martinovs. Atis Švinka together with Martinovs lost the AB state shares. Period.

Specialists from Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces found that most Russian soldiers captured by Ukrainian Forces in Zaporizhzhia region have their military ID numbers tattooed on their bodies. They are forcibly marked upon arrival at a training ground. Such tattoos are reportedly given to soldiers assigned to 'meat assaults' sent to slaughter. Since Russian commanders understand that these soldiers will die shortly after being sent into combat, no one spends time or resources issuing them metal ID tags. Most POWs said that during their service, they faced forced deployments to assault positions while wounded, threats to 'zero them out' if they refused, as well as 'flag-planting' missions - attempts to raise a Russian flag in the territory controlled by Ukraine’s Defense Forces. The majority of these Russian servicemen were captured between 10 days and one month after signing their contracts. The pattern has been observed in Russia’s 36th, 37th, 38th, and 39th motorized rifle brigades; 5th tank brigade; and the 70th, 114th, and 135th motorized rifle regiments. For Russian soldiers, such a mark is a death sentence. The only way to escape it and survive is to flee immediately or surrender to Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

I can tell @AivarsOzo and others from my side that I will never be in a coalition with the representatives of the “Kopā” party. And here @AndrisKulbergs has also already clearly answered: https://t.co/kPQAhOMtOr You don't hear anymore or don't want to hear? https://t.co/5xpYL6oWBE

Well, look, AS, LPV and NA “right-centrist” post-election team will have one professional less. Podkolzins is experienced and competent in “security”, but also in aviation matters. Moreover, he has traditional Kremlin family values of Šlesers and Bartaševičs. 1/3

Finally, decisions are being made about airBaltic. But for now they are being made by creditors, not the government. Bondholders have agreed to defer part of interest payments and are waiting for government action. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister already describes the situation as effectively the 'last chance' to save airBaltic. The government is considering additional purchase of airBaltic bonds, capitalization of existing bonds, and extension of the state loan term. But is the whole government ready to stand behind these decisions? Will we again see indecisiveness and hear that everything is now in the hands of the Saeima? In my opinion, the main question is not whether to give airBaltic more money. The question is, what is the state's final goal? What airBaltic do we want to preserve? What connectivity of Latvia do we want after 5, 10, and 20 years? What will today's decisions leave for future generations? Before talking about further funding, the public should know the government's strategy, namely how the state is ready to adapt its requirements in the letter of expectation, what requirements it will set in the shareholder agreement, and where compromises with creditors and potential investors are possible. And only then can the financial questions be answered: how much capital is still needed, by what date, and under what conditions. airBaltic is not just a company for Latvia. It is part of our economic infrastructure and connectivity with Europe and the world. That is why the government now needs not another short-term cash injection, but a clear final goal and the courage to make decisions.

Also in the future, milk produced by Latvian farmers and its products, our fruits and vegetables, will be available to schoolchildren free of charge. Healthy and fresh nutrition for children with a short supply chain from farm to school table is a good choice for children and an opportunity for our farmers to increase sales of their products.

Short-lived though, I have to say. Your voter expected not staying silent about the 13B climate law, about the Tet/LMT purchase, about the Stambuliade, but got a flashy series of stunts and a photo with Trump's sons, as well as a black somersault on the Freedom Monument. Oh, and also that Pitbull concert ticket management. https://t.co/Qzgc9HB8eD

ZZS is in the government, and that is exactly why our duty is not to remain silent but to demand clear answers about airBaltic and state money, what decisions are being prepared and what risks are associated with them. The previous discussion about the loan also confirmed that our questions were not superfluous. ZZS was right! https://t.co/M2KXOZ1t4P

Yes. He left the faction before Evika's government and became an 'independent', because ZZS offered him 'old man, we'll be in government, you'll be at the controls, just vote together'. It already scorched on the municipalities, and now they all go down the drain together. He got into the wrong boat through a scam. But Betāta at least got into the wrong one just like that, without a scam.

Wait, they took Burov in with them? 😆

@DavisVilums It would be worth asking @KNABinforme whether the Communists of the People's Republic of China are paying for @MHirss's campaign. Their candidate for prime minister already expressed enthusiasm for Marx…

I love how the recently 'independent' political commentator is now, of course, a Progressive, and, as a Progressive, somehow manages to glorify China's communist dictatorial regime. https://t.co/QkIk9vQrnu

The new government and its leader have acted disgustingly and dangerously. @ltvdefacto @ivchix told about it, and they did right - it is their duty. Latvian public television viewers had to know about it. Let's start with the fact that the government leader @AndrisKulbergs and part of the @Apvienotais_ leadership had gone on an unmistakable campaigning event during a working day, when their task was to work. When an LTV journalist publicly asked about this situation, the prime minister first, instead of answering, very vulgarly told the journalist to go away, rather than answering on the merits, which is his duty. He could act that way if he were a private person, but not a public official. So Kulbergs either does not understand or does not want to understand this fundamentally important difference. Secondly, which is already a matter of intelligence, it was done in a vulgar and arrogant form, which is clear evidence of Kulberg's intelligence level. All this together bodes nothing good. More - it is dangerous that the prime minister is so cowardly that he is not able to admit his mistake like a man of honor, but instead chooses a crude shout. Further - from Smiltēns' answer we clearly see that the Minister of Justice is a person who presents what he wishes as what exists, using crude demagogy. Even more dangerous - the worst expression of politics is used, Orwellian doublethink. An obvious campaigning event is called a 'meeting with residents'. The sad irony - the Minister of Justice himself breaks the law and brazenly lies, just like a caught pickpocket at a bus station. The next thing is not only disgusting, but also dangerous for the state - both AS members, and the media, and responsible institutions pretend that nothing happened. As if lying, demagogy and squandering state funds were a common thing, and in general it is more convenient to pretend that 'nothing like that happened' and 'nothing is proven'. That is the language current in 'Putlerstan', and with this we are sliding in the same direction. That is why we must not be silent about it and also not reconcile.

@OttoOzols @Apvienotais_ @AndrisKulbergs I cannot comment on exaggerations and assumptions, such as that KNAB is not fulfilling its duties. A KNAB inspection is underway, residents were informed in several ways before the DeFacto story. The story reported nothing new that had not already been reported a week earlier - about that is my post.
