Solvita Gulbe on support for needy persons. In addressing financial inequality problems, it is essential to work with causes, not effects. Benefits and relief will not always solve what was caused by unsuccessful tax reforms, growing state debt and cost of living. https://t.co/RKopziv0k3
Next Saturday, 3 October, we will elect the 15th Saeima.
I also urge those who are disappointed in politics, doubt their choice, or have not found a party they can agree with on absolutely all issues to vote.
There will most likely be no ideal candidate or ideal party. But elections are not a search for a flawless choice. They are an opportunity to choose Latvia's direction of development and the people we will trust to make decisions on our behalf for the next four years.
Before voting, take time to compare party programmes, candidates' experience, what has been done so far, and whether promises also have an implementation plan and funding.
Not participating in elections is not a punishment for politicians. It simply leaves the choice in someone else's hands.
Every vote is equally important, regardless of a person's age, income, or place of residence.
So on 3 October, let us go and vote. And invite at least one more person to vote who might otherwise stay home.
Democracy does not work by itself. It works when we take part in it.
Selija XII Congress.
Selija's strength is not in loudness. It is in tenacity, practicality, and quiet local patriotism; it is in the people who keep their parish, school, farm, and local community alive.
But pride in one's region alone is not enough. For people to stay in Selija, start a family, and develop a business, there also need to be jobs, a school, a family doctor, public transport, and a good road.
Selija is not Latvia's periphery or an empty place between larger centres. It is an independent region of Latvia with its own history, culture, and economic potential.
The state's task is not to teach Selija how to survive. The state's task is to provide connections and services, support associations and local NGOs, and create an environment where strong companies that provide jobs can emerge. All of this allows Selija to grow.
A strong Latvia begins with the opportunity for a person to build a good life in their native place.
@suvajevs@Progresivie Looking at the composition of the economists' association, I wonder how JV and Pro don't have 6 points on a 5-point scale, probably Rimšēvics, Pūce and Bondars dragged it down. Let's call it the 'trough' association. https://t.co/u8XLMqoyS9
I am running in the 15th Saeima elections. 🇱🇻 My goals in the Saeima are Latvia's security, the Latvian language and culture, as well as an orderly urban environment. These are fields closely connected to my previous professional and political experience. ✅ 5th list, my no. ➕1️⃣3️⃣ .#NA_5saraksts_13nr_RĪGĀhttps://t.co/ZtnCFLEdH3
@AlksneR@dabrelis@ainarsgrieze@AndrisKulbergs Well, you know. RAF was my father's passion. They set up that factory in Jelgava. They made the RAF Latvia. It was built by Latvian engineers. Probably also under the VDK's magnifying glass back then. And?
@apollo_lv Has Mrs. Vība asked how much @AndrisKulbergs's father opposed the occupation regime and how much building @Motormuzejs meant to him? Perhaps then she would understand why Mr. Kulbergs is proud to call this museum “Special”.
@ainarsgrieze@no_trona@dabrelis@AndrisKulbergs Only a part of the confiscated is taken out. Less than half. The rest are sold off and the money goes to the budget. So it's not as if everything:
Putin claims that the rights of Russian speakers in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia are being violated.
You know Putin's lies.
You know what happened four and a half years ago. https://t.co/g5Wg1vftCb
But... for the first time in my conscientious (long and error-ridden) life as a voter, I will vote for @Jauna_Vienotiba, because in my opinion no one is even close to being a better candidate for foreign minister than @Braze_Baiba. And, in my opinion, this is now 10 times more important than anything else https://t.co/lOYMwI1MS0
Rutte: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are openly helping to make the Strait of Hormuz safe again.
Other European nations are doing it discreetly, under wraps. European countries are operating in the Middle East, it is just not socialised. 3/ https://t.co/X87jK1dni5
Being a Russian-speaking resident of Latvia, I demand that Russians not meddle with my rights. Which I have more than any average citizen of the Russian Federation.
Thanks in advance https://t.co/1iHCrlm4rq
