Thank you for the trust and appreciation, @BaibaStrautmane! I am truly glad to receive support from such a demanding journalist and evaluator of political processes. https://t.co/i16ivFAnBv
But... for the first time in my conscientious (long and error-prone) life as a voter, I will vote for @Jauna_Vienotiba, because in my opinion no one even comes close to a better candidate for foreign minister than @Braze_Baiba. And, in my opinion, this is currently 10 times more important than anything else. https://t.co/lOYMwI1MS0

The VAT reduction for food shows an additional new economic plus to the previous ones. Another additional argument why ZZS's position on food without VAT is correct!
I am alarmed by the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian crisis in Oleshky, a town in the temporarily occupied parts of the Kherson region of Ukraine.
Civilians, including children, are trapped without sufficient food, medicines, medical care, running water or electricity. Reports indicate that they face a high risk of death.
Under international humanitarian law, Russia, as the occupying power, has the duty to provide food and medical supplies and to facilitate humanitarian relief.
I call for an immediate local ceasefire, unhindered humanitarian access, and the safe evacuation of civilians.
The hardship and suffering of people caught along the frontlines of the war and in occupied territories demand international attention and action.

People in temporarily occupied Oleshky are starving. There is almost nothing left to eat. Reports indicate that civilians are being forced to survive on grass and weeds, while medicines, clean water, electricity, and medical care are increasingly out of reach. Children are trapped in these conditions too.
This suffering has a clear cause and a clear perpetrator. Russia has brought this catastrophe to Oleshky through its illegal occupation and bears full responsibility for this humanitarian disaster, all of its consequences, and the innocent civilian lives lost as a result.
The international community must mobilize every available instrument to reach people in Oleshky, deliver humanitarian assistance, and ensure the safe evacuation of those who want to leave. The @UN, the @ICRC, and other international actors must use their mandates and channels to secure immediate and unhindered humanitarian access.
I appreciate @CommissionerHR Michael O’Flaherty for drawing international attention to the situation in Oleshky. Now this attention must be followed by action. People there cannot survive on statements of concern. Humanitarian access and safe evacuation must become a reality, because every day matters.
For the past 24 hours, Russian terror against Ukraine has not stopped.
Yesterday alone, Russian strikes killed at least four people and injured 47 in Kyiv.
Today, Russia continued attacking cities across the country. At least two people were killed in Sumy, two in Zaporizhzhia and two in the Dnipropetrovsk region, including a child. Dozens have been injured across Ukraine.
And look at what Russia has been hitting during these 24 hours: a kindergarten in Kyiv, a lyceum in the Kyiv region, a university in Kharkiv, residential buildings, as well as energy infrastructure in the Poltava, Mykolaiv, and Vinnytsia regions.
There is a clear pattern — these are civilian sites. Places where people live, study, work, and bring their children. Air raid alerts barely end before another attack begins. This is what Russia’s escalation looks like for Ukrainians every day.
Our partners must not lose sight of this reality. Russia’s escalation is not something that happens occasionally between rounds of diplomacy. It is happening every day, with attacks becoming increasingly brutal and civilians paying the price.
The world must not become numb to these attacks or scroll past horrific images as though they were just another headline. If Russia chooses to make its attacks more brutal, the response must become stronger too. Every strike demands action and accountability: more missile interceptors for Ukraine, stronger sanctions against those enabling Russia’s terror, and greater pressure on Moscow.
Russia is testing how much violence the world will tolerate. The answer must be clear: escalation will bring greater pressure, greater support for Ukraine, and a higher price for the aggressor. This is how we prevent Russia’s war from spreading further.

@MartinsKriekis Oh, lately I've been meeting many elderly people in tents and on the streets who come up and say they will vote for the Progressives. It's no longer just a young people's party.
Voika, who in the 13th Saeima always voted pro-Kremlin, is angling for an exhibition that should be displayed in the Occupation Museum: the Cheka files of the fathers of Briškens, Simanovska, Švinka, Bonadars, Kažoks etc., next to their chubby faces in the Saeima and other state-funded institutions. Right next to them, Voika's and all of AttīstībaiPar's votes in defense of Colorado beetles and Russia's orcs. Too bad the current leadership of @okupacijas_muz is afraid to hold exhibitions about collaborators.
