If I had to bet which of the Saeima parties would be the first to be ready for a real coalition with Šlesers, then there is no doubt at all - it would be Vienotība. They already did it once with Lembergs - they promised they wouldn't, they scolded everyone who didn't distance themselves 'hotly enough' from ZZS, and then after 10 months they went into one coalition with Lembergs.
New Unity will be in the next Saeima. @SlesersAinars you know that your fantasies about the next government coalition will remain just an illusion.
We will not allow that. And Latvian voters will have the final word.
Speaking to Channel 4 News’ US editor Anushka Asthana, Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs warned that Russia could intensify its attacks on Ukraine while also testing NATO’s resolve. He said Russia’s hybrid attacks and sabotage across Europe could be aimed at weakening support for Ukraine.
Minister @Braze_Baiba fought until the very last moment against the malicious idea to delist Usmanov and Fridman. I wished all EU ministers were as strong as the Latvian minister was during this absolutely disgraceful drama in Brussels. Thank you @Braze_Baibahttps://t.co/k1zz3VXgTUhttps://t.co/YUR4x7bkDF

“Suverēnā vara/Apvienība Jaunlatvieši”, which is among the rating leaders during the pre-election period, its representative Jūlija Stepaņenko has in recent weeks avoided answering questions about her father living in Russia, from whom she has received impressive gifts. As Latvian Television has found out, the politician’s father owns a successful construction business in the Moscow region, which was recently visited by the scandalous arms dealer Viktors Buts during the Russian State Duma election campaign. #IzvēliesLatvijasNākotni#Vēlēšanas2026
In the party sorting, it is not possible to answer how we plan to reduce the number of abortions, which is our goal.
First, ideas we do not support:
- abortion ban
- mandatory consultations
- any forced solutions or prohibitions on the mother
Ideas we support:
- child support non-payers cannot undergo the examination until debts are paid (implemented in the 13th Saeima).
- accessible consultations and psychologist support
- crisis situation solutions
- reduction of the family tax burden
- accessible health care in the regions
Latvia's 🇱🇻 budget for the coming years is planned with a deficit of EUR 2–2.7 billion, which is also permitted by the fiscal clause (given growing defence needs, for a few years it is possible to borrow with a larger deficit than usual). So public finances are regularly managed by living beyond one's means.
But there is another thing. There is a concept of "fiscal space", which describes the permissible room for manoeuvre, subject to the planned borrowing limits and fiscal discipline conditions. And this fiscal space is negative ➖. Moreover, it has now turned out that the calculation of fiscal space should also include various decisions made by the government and the Saeima that currently have no coverage (teacher salary schedule, measures for oncology treatment, etc.). As a result, the negative "fiscal space" for the coming years will range from EUR 400 million to as much as EUR 1.6 billion. In Latvian - to put public finances in order, a significant reduction in planned budget expenditure and/or an increase in revenue is needed. Dry mathematics! ➕➖➗✖️🟰
And who cooked up this whole mess in recent years, we know very well.
The Legal Commission is advancing to the second reading amendments that will strengthen criminal liability for femicide and murder motivated by sexual orientation, race, and faith. The @Progresivie plan to submit a legal flaw and pretend to be fighters who lost the vote has failed. The amendments will be. https://t.co/JKKj00OCma

Latvia has great entrepreneurs whose work's fruits are worth enjoying and admiring. Starting from the wine fields near Tukums, ending with beautiful places for special life events. Mazburkas is one such company. https://t.co/dyacux2h25https://t.co/DGEDbpRz4h
👍 Every 🇱🇻 economic activity that produces not only raw material but also further creates products with high added value in processing is commendable, says Minister of Agriculture Uldis Augulis, visiting the vineyards and winery "Mazburkas" in Smārde Parish, Engure Municipality.📈 https://t.co/YIdYPGnIAi
@Chapis, buddy, every evening I go to bed with the thought that tomorrow I'll wake up and Čapis will have published his detailed and carefully crafted Superprogramme for Latvia's Dynamic Development.. and every morning I'm deeply disappointed... so how am I supposed to vote for you in this situation? :(
