Many don't know this, but praising men's countless achievements in advancing civilization's progress, the party PROGRESĪVIE was named in masculine gender, plural. That's in honor of us, guys. And deservedly!

Today there was hysteria in the Saeima Budget Committee. We showed the true state of the budget. This follows the Kübler-Ross model (described in the book 'On Death and Dying'). The first stage is denial. They denied the data, refused to believe it, and started shouting. What is it about? You see, the projected budget for the coming years has been deep in the red for a long time. This is publicly known. More than a billion needs to be cut, but mainly by 2030. That is far away. But that is only half the trouble. There are also additional decisions adopted for over 2 billion that need to be cut on top of that. And they have been promised, but money in the budget will be sought only after the elections (because it is a political choice and not for this Saeima). There you have it — so what will we take away? Only the new Saeima may decide that. Logically. And together it is apocalyptic — billions are not millions and not even hundreds. It means limiting public expenditure. Which ones? Well, that will be the choice of the next coalition/Saeima. We showed the apocalyptic hole in the wallet that has been built up over many years. And that is not all. These deficits are if we continue borrowing as before. Up to the brim. To achieve a deficit-free budget, 9 billion need to be cut. You could even dismiss all ministries and shut the state down, and it still would not be enough. So there you have it. Ten years of blatherers in power. What did you expect?

If I had to bet which of the Saeima parties would be the first to be ready for a real coalition with Šlesers, then there is no doubt at all - it would be Vienotība. They already did it once with Lembergs - they promised they wouldn't, they scolded everyone who didn't distance themselves 'hotly enough' from ZZS, and then after 10 months they went into one coalition with Lembergs.

@Krisjanis_K @lastguru_net @JurgisLiepnieks @attistibai @Jauna_Vienotiba @ijabs The first thing I “pushed through” was getting the Cabinet of Ministers’ first decision on starting the Administrative Territorial Reform through within 2 weeks after the government was approved. But you can continue living in your imaginary world about me and my deeds/misdeeds.

@lastguru_net @JurgisLiepnieks @attistibai @Jauna_Vienotiba @ijabs @pucej Steals but shares v2.0 😂 The first thing @pucej pushed through was the IT procurement cartel's little helper Balsevics as state secretary. Now Juris pretends he doesn't know the suspected Balsevics… 😎🤡🤣

Yes, yes, they did that to Lembergs, but with Šlesers - nothing doing.

The buffet lady has gotten a firmer grip already on Wednesday evening.

New Unity will be in the next Saeima. @SlesersAinars you know that your fantasies about the next government coalition will remain just an illusion. We will not allow that. And Latvian voters will have the final word.

However, there is nothing cooler than coalition partners' 'scuffles'.. 🍿 For some time now, in the budget commission it often goes so far that the opposition comforts colleagues from the coalition. For outside observers, I admit, it is quite challenging to understand who is whose partner, because everyone pulls the 'blanket' towards themselves. 😀 but, I guess it has to be that way… #dysfunctional

Inese Lībiņa-Egnere (JV) and Edvards Smiltēns (AS) argue about Latvia's inability to achieve the desired result in changes to the sanctions list. Smiltēns accuses the politician of 'dirty populism' and asks: 'Have you really lost all honour?' Ainārs Šlesers (LPV) also joins the discussion, stating that Foreign Minister Baiba Braže 'completely failed like an old fence'. ▶️ Watch 'Nākamais, lūdzu!': https://t.co/6Mxyu5nV2W #SIF_MAF2026

LTV: The notorious Viktor Bout recently visited the company of Jūlija Stepaņenko's father (1)

Māris Sprindžuks (AS): “To place a [temporary] bridge in a location where there is no corridor opposite – whether we put it by the Great Kristaps or opposite Muitas Street – that is not a place that can absorb traffic. If we get a throughput of 1500–600 cars per hour, that is not a benefit. Therefore it is much smarter to invest this money into lasting solutions, rather than load 20 million afterwards somewhere to be stored and look for application for things that are not even needed on such a scale by 'Latvian State Roads'.” #ŠodienasJautājums

Viesturs Kleinbergs (“Progresīvie”): “A temporary bridge is the best solution for several reasons. First, because it will allow us to repair the Vanšu Bridge faster, reducing the potential problems at a time when in 2028 there will be not only the Song Festival, but we will also be the presiding country of the European Union in the second half of the year.” #ŠodienasJautājums

⚫️ After 4 years, 6 months and 30 days of Russia’s war against Ukraine, the human cost continues to grow. 🇱🇻 Latvia joined 50 🇺🇳 states at the stakeout on 🇺🇦 Ukraine and underscored: 🔴 Ukraine wants peace. We want peace. Russia must stop its aggression, accept a ceasefire and engage meaningfully in negotiations towards a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in accordance with international law. 🔴 We urgently call for the immediate, safe and unconditional return of all arbitrarily detained, forcibly transferred or deported Ukrainian civilians, including children, as well as all POWs and internees. 🔴 The Black sea must open. Russia’s attacks threaten Ukrainian grain exports and global food security. We support efforts to safeguard freedom of navigation and call for the protection of commercial shipping and critical infrastructure.

“Suverēnā vara/Apvienība Jaunlatvieši”, which is among the rating leaders during the pre-election period, its representative Jūlija Stepaņenko has in recent weeks avoided answering questions about her father living in Russia, from whom she has received impressive gifts. As Latvian Television has found out, the politician’s father owns a successful construction business in the Moscow region, which was recently visited by the scandalous arms dealer Viktors Buts during the Russian State Duma election campaign. #IzvēliesLatvijasNākotni #Vēlēšanas2026
