Thanks to broad donor support, of the 240 thousand euros needed for the treatment of little Jelgava resident Olivia, 150 thousand euros have already been raised. In addition, the girl is entitled to 30 thousand euros from the state for individual medicine compensation. Meanwhile, the State Agency of Medicines has been instructed to start talks with the manufacturer on the price of these medicines and possible inclusion in the state-compensated medicines list. 🖥️ https://t.co/5vvKoVWXW3

WE DON'T NEED MIGRANTS No matter how they try to scare us with the aging of society and economic collapse, we don't need migrants. The idea of cheap Central Asians or diligent Indians as contributors to Latvia's pension fund is misguided. This is proven by Germany, France, Great Britain, Sweden, and any other Western European "open door" country, where the short-term liberal euphoria has been replaced by fear of going out on the streets, lest you run into (literally) a newcomer. In the Netherlands, they recently calculated that an immigrant from a third-world country costs the state around four hundred thousand over a lifetime, while a local Fleming earns more than he consumes, contributing up to one million euros to the budget over a lifetime. Importing "cheap" labor due to the lobby of a few entrepreneurs in the long run slows down sector development and work automation, which in the future would ensure cheaper production and higher wages. Immigration from third-world countries, regardless of legality, brings with it a completely alien cultural background that is incompatible with the values of Western civilization. They are mutually exclusive. On September 16, a citizen of Uzbekistan received a visa with the right to employment in Latvia, but already today he has been detained for harassing underage girls in Riga. This is the face of legal immigration offered by the current government. The only difference from illegal immigration is that the name of the rapist will be easier to find out. This is crime that can be avoided even before it happens. Western Europe reached this conclusion by observing that over ten years the number of rapes increased by 150%, and almost half of serious crimes were committed by immigrants, who represent a minority. When they again tell us about the necessity of immigration and try to normalize it, invoking Latvia's partners who practice it, remember Poland, which does the opposite, and now, having emerged from post-Soviet poverty, is striding far ahead at the forefront of Europe as the fastest-growing economy. The Poles did not yield to the lobby of strawberry growers or sprats producers, but systematically modernized the economy. On October 3, we will have a choice to vote for those who see Latvia as a cheap, dirty, Soviet-style workshop with beds for legal immigrants, or those who want to preserve Latvia as a flourishing Latvian state.

Latvia agrees to a compromise, but does not change its principled position. We objected to the last minute against the removal of Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from the EU sanctions list. Latvia was the only EU country that fought for this until the very end of the negotiations. It was a morally correct position, and our friends in Ukraine saw and appreciated it. However, the government had to make a responsible decision. The choice was not between a good and a bad solution. The choice was between changing the status of two individuals and the risk of losing the entire sanctions regime applying to more than 2,600 Russian war supporters, individuals and companies. Therefore, Latvia's representative will abstain in the vote. This will allow the sanctions to be extended not for the usual six months, but for 36 months. For the next three years, it will be much harder for the Kremlin and its allies to try to split Europe and trade over the future of sanctions every six months. At the same time, Latvia does not step back: 🔒 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been tasked with immediately preparing the legal basis for imposing national sanctions on Usmanov and Fridman; 💶 we will use all legal instruments to prevent the release of their funds and economic resources in Latvia; 🛡️ in talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, we reached an agreement to start negotiations on Latvia's involvement in the French nuclear deterrence initiative; ✈️ France is ready to strengthen its military presence in Latvia, especially in the area of air defense; 🇺🇦 I personally informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Ukrainian Prime Minister about Latvia's decision. Ukraine understands our position and supports the need to maintain a unified European sanctions regime. Latvia will not allow the sanctions regime against thousands of Russian war supporters to collapse because of two individuals. We maintained our political position, safeguarded the continuation of sanctions and at the same time achieved a significant strengthening of Latvia's security. As long as Russia continues the war, Latvia will continue to stand on Ukraine's side. Firmly and without retreat.

If there are no children, then really, what for? I think the answer is the desire to create and reach the next level. For a small portion of people, life is about overcoming challenges and satisfaction from what has been achieved. For a multimillionaire, the next million gives nothing practical. Only satisfaction. A true statesman takes satisfaction from the country's successes, even though it gives nothing practical after reaching a certain level. It is a question of how each one fills their life. The circle of challenges is one way. It also motivates scientists.

@guntarsv 'Think about yourself' - there are several levels. 1. Potholes on the street - I buy a jeep. Or I ensure that the street gets repaired. Thinking about yourself also means thinking about children and what kind of environment is left... If we go only the cynical variant... What is the state for....

@Lato_Lapsa @Braze_Baiba The Foreign Ministry's product, Baiba Braže, demonstrated to the whole world that a firm and principled Latvian position can become cowardly and soft-shelled. A single phone call at night from Brussels is enough. Interesting is the status of that product, who can be called at night from Brussels.

The new immigration law will only increase such cases. Society was sold an even weaker immigration policy, wrapped in shiny paper. We will publish an analysis about this soon. One can control and catch endlessly - the more immigrants, the more raids, controls, and fighting. The goal should be the departure of immigrants, as provided for in the ASL programme.

Did the government really not know about this and hadn't started addressing it earlier? Late Monday evening: Latvia suddenly halted the decision to remove Fridman and Usmanov from EU sanctions; an emergency Cabinet meeting was called. Tuesday evening: the decision takes effect, Latvia agrees.

Latvia previously, as the last EU member state, resisted easing the sanctions, but ultimately agreed to a compromise and in the vote took a position of 'constructive abstention', the Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (AS) told journalists after the government meeting. https://t.co/4BXF6aS0OH https://t.co/S3tdKBtxpu

Because of Latvia's objections, the European Union sanctions against Russia and Belarus have still not been extended, as Latvia opposes the demand by France and Slovakia to remove two Russian oligarchs from the sanctions list. Neither Latvia nor France is backing down from their demands. Meanwhile, Ukraine has reacted sharply to the possible lifting of sanctions against two oligarchs and thanked Latvia for its steadfastness and refusal to agree to such action. https://t.co/UZWVSOA09y
