I was at an expensive restaurant. Nearby sits Šteinbuka, who for 20 years has been teaching how to handle the state budget. When it's time to pay the bill, Šteinbuka pulls out a white envelope full of cash and pays the restaurant bill. https://t.co/pkLbz3ITgN

Firstly, you asked me about the orphanage compared to a homosexual couple. Secondly, a homosexual couple could be as harmful, if not more harmful, an environment than an alcoholic family, because homosexuals more often than heterosexuals use alcohol and various kinds of drugs.

@zuravlevs @AndisVaic @asocgimene @AndrisKulbergs @Apvienotais_ @EdvardsSmiltens @Edgars_T Then you think it is better to leave a child with alcoholics than to give him to a wealthy foster family of that type which will take care of the child's future? Interesting indeed...

...almost as much as the Civic Alliance receives from the Cabinet of Ministers for recording the minutes of the Memorandum Council meetings in one year and getting together to talk with @AndrisKulbergs. That we can do. We cannot compensate a child for a rare disease medication that would return them to a full life – we have to collect donations. https://t.co/Y5zab5OLmm

I have never had a bachelor's degree. I went to Sweden through the LU student exchange program, they have their own system, they looked at what I had studied in Latvia, and after my studies they awarded me a master's degree. Physics was taught much more thoroughly in Latvia back then than in Sweden. You could feel it, I have written about it here. And they not only awarded me a master's degree. I was also accepted into the theoretical physics doctoral program there, and I also taught Swedish physics students. But I decided not to continue and returned to Latvia. I already understand that I will be attacked right before the elections, you have been given a task and you are paid for that? How much?

@guntarsv @CVK_zinas Thanks for the whole picture. I ask because you were born in August 1972. You finished school in June 1990. In 1994 you were 22 years old. In the funding report for your studies it is indicated that you are from the University of Latvia. Tell me, where did you get your bachelor's degree?

Zigmars Liepins's staging of 'Apocalypse' for the Dailes Theatre was short of 15,000 euros. But 'Order No. 2' was not short. That's how far we've come regarding the priorities of JV's long-time member, sponsor, and election candidate Žagars. https://t.co/RbbaouODFX

It turns out that the fuel crisis in France is not just about a few petrol stations. Macron has also gotten involved. https://t.co/srAuJgvpAr

🇫🇷 Macron: The fuel crisis has arrived. He delivered a blunt energy warning while landing off Canada's coast in Saint-Pierre to meet PM Carney. France burns through 600,000 barrels of diesel every single day and relies on foreign imports for half of its total intake. Macron admitted Paris cannot afford to run short and confirmed that emergency stockpiling has accelerated across national gas and oil reserves. France’s fuel crisis is exploding with 1 in 9 petrol stations in the country now struggling to keep at least one type of petrol or diesel in stock. The meeting between the two leaders comes as Canada and the EU discuss possible associate membership to the bloc. Trump calls the idea laughable and threatens retaliatory tariffs over any “hostile act”. Or is he just jealous the EU didn’t ask him to join first. Writer: Bri https://t.co/5je9PC8JR9

We cannot want a strong Latvia only with larger defense spending. A strong state is also one that produces, exports and earns itself. Security begins in the economy.

I see this as the most essential problem, I defined it from the beginning. If the management of companies is not detached from the politburo, corruption and inefficiency will not diminish. There are two examples known worldwide. Singapore's Temasek (works excellently) and Malaysia's 1MDB, which ended with perhaps the biggest corruption scandal, the prime minister ended up behind bars. We need to seriously look towards eradicating Grafistāna at the root. The state capture structure overseen by Andris Grafs, the nightingale of Unity.

@guntarsv @JanisIkstens The larger and more centralized the structure, the greater the temptation to use it for political purposes ("eating" to support the state apparatus). Paradoxically, one large fund can be more easily politically influenced than several independent, separately regulated and transparent companies.

It seems that Zemgale Regional Court judge Raimonds Rinčs may have beaten his wife – Jelgava City Council lawyer Lelde Rinča, even while drunk. And where is the Istanbul Convention? And why are all the Dombravas and Smiltēns so quiet, so quiet this time? And why aren't Beate's handbags crying? https://t.co/44gSlb7LeB

Ben, thanks for the concern. The steam hasn't vanished anywhere – it just no longer goes through the whistle but into the cylinders. Two fresh tasks: bitcoin in the deferred tax regime for investment accounts has now reached Saeima – I personally unstuck the stagnation in the cabinets. Supervisory oversight of small lenders at the Bank of Latvia – Saeima just adopted it. Both had sat in bureaucrats' drawers for years. It's easier to express yourself on Twitter. Writing a line into law is harder. I am now doing the latter. And communists are still communists. Only now I meet them not on Twitter but at budget tables.

Watching politicians, one cannot help noticing that almost all of them live in their own bubbles of illusions. Moreover, they see other politicians' 'bubbles' perfectly, but not their own. Some examples. There are politicians who, as an axiom, as 'two times two is four', paint everything happening in Latvia in catastrophic colors. 'We are completely in the rear', 'standing at the edge of an abyss', 'rushing at full speed into a wall', 'we are last in all indicators' and so on. They do not even allow the possibility that maybe it is not so; that they themselves generate this apocalyptic view and further induce it into the surrounding space; that not everyone sees the surrounding world in such colors. Yes, many see significant shortcomings in our state administration and would like to change much, but in their deepest essence they do not feel 'standing at the edge of an abyss'. This is evidenced at least by the fact that, no matter how they are organized, urged and stimulated, they cannot be brought to an action - to save the country from falling into the abyss, let's join hands from Zilupe to Pāvilosta, as it was in the 'Baltic Way' on August 23, 1989 from Vilnius to Tallinn. I mention these past times not out of nostalgia, but to show the huge difference between real problems, real determination, and imitations of these problems, which Latvia's current political activists engage in. Currently, there is no issue in Latvian politics so decisive that it could gather even a couple of thousand people for some broader popular manifestation. Peculiarities of the 2026 Saeima elections, new features and general meaning - https://t.co/RvUSDIqguX via @nralv

8 years ago NA had the opportunity to take power in the state and fully implement its own policy, if such existed, not allowing Kariņš and Siliņa to fool around these 8 years! They wasted their chance under Zīle's 'leadership', and such chances don't come a second time! ASL does not let opportunities pass! Don't you let them pass either, voters! https://t.co/yRUwMqMBJo
