“Municipalities can work on attracting investment. And to stimulate municipalities, a very good incentive payment would be for those municipalities with more developed business, where there is that added value and higher GDP per capita than elsewhere,” said Inga Bērziņa (JV) during the #IzvēliesLatvijasNākotni pre-election debates in Liepāja.
“We talk a lot about high added value, and how we get there is through innovative solutions. And here, in my opinion, the LIAA innovation voucher program should be reformed, which notices where innovations are developed and where there is export potential,” said Agnese Lāce (“Progressives”) at the #IzvēliesLatvijasNākotni pre-election debates in Liepāja.

“Liepāja, Pāvilosta are pearls on the seacoast. We could develop the health sector and a network of sanatoriums. We only need to promote it and give the green light, not brake,” said Ludmila Rjazanova (“Stabilitātei!”) during the pre-election debates in Liepāja for #IzvēliesLatvijasNākotni.

“Latvia is a transit country. It is so geopolitically advantageously located that it must be a transit power – like a bridge between East and West. [..] We carry to both sides – to the East and to the West. Including Russia. Exports must also go to Russia,” Edgars Dārznieks (“Suverēnā vara”/”Apvienība Jaunlatvieši”) said in the #IzvēliesLatvijasNākotni pre-election debates in Liepāja.

“We constantly talk about the IT sector, but I also see very great potential for agricultural products. There are products where we are ready to even double the export contribution,” Uldis Augulis (ZZS) said at the pre-election debates in Liepāja #IzvēliesLatvijasNākotni.

There is no place for Russia's war economy in Latvia. 🚫 Also, the transit of Russian and Belarusian grain must not continue to bring profit to the aggressor states. The amendments to the law adopted by the Saeima today will allow to significantly increase the railway infrastructure fee and make this transit more expensive until Russian ports in Latvia are no longer economically advantageous. This is a legally grounded and practically feasible step towards the complete cessation of transit. At the same time, in cooperation with Ukraine, the United Kingdom and France, a mechanism for determining the origin of grain is being developed. If grain stolen in the occupied territories of Ukraine is found in cargo, it will be evidence of a serious Russian crime. We have an obligation to use all legal instruments so that Latvia does not become a transit corridor for financing Russia's war. 🇱🇻🇺🇦 Video: TV24 Ziņu TOP | 17.09.2026
🎾 The "Latvijas attīstībai" candidate for the Prime Minister's office and Member of the European Parliament Ivars @Ijabs believes that Latvia's biggest problem is not a lack of ideas, but the inability to make difficult decisions in time. In the interview, he reveals why Europe is an opportunity, not an obstacle, why Ukraine is also a Latvian security issue, and why without a strong economy it will not be possible to solve any other state problem.

Both Poles and Finns warn that Russia is preparing something. It is unclear exactly what, exactly where, but all around there is very high activity of NATO reconnaissance equipment, movement of equipment (including four German Eurofighters to Latvia). The deployment of US Tomahawks in Norway is a special event in itself. We don't know something. Something is wrong. I don't like it.
I deliberately paused for a couple of days, thought it would calm down, you can't swear all the time, but still I don't know how to politely describe Kulbergs' government decisions on the Russian grain matter. So the Latvian government made a decision to ensure unimpeded transit for Russian and Ukrainian-stolen grain through Latvian ports. Only for show, increasing one of the most insignificant transit cost items, which will still allow Latvia to earn a bit in this common business with Russia. As a result, grain transit will not be stopped, it is and will continue at full speed, we are helping Russians rob Ukraine and get money for war. How????? That is Kulbergs' real policy.

Jāzeps Baško on the financing of public media.
State-funded media must represent the interests of Latvian society. If taxpayers finance the media, they have the right, through their demand and assessment, to also determine how much funding is allocated to them. https://t.co/97HBjejGdJ
