A candidate for the parliamentary seat could join the National Guard and then would understand why some units conduct training in urban environments. But serving is harder than simply smartly lecturing about 'creating a sense of security'. https://t.co/5RPztSbDSJ

Another Kremlin activist has been detained. Thank you to the State Security Service for their work! The State Security Service (VDD), responding to a publicly issued ultimatum by a pro-Kremlin group, initiated a criminal process on September 9 this year regarding threats to carry out terrorism against companies in Latvia that supply weapons to Ukraine. VDD established that a pro-Kremlin group named "Global Citizens Against War 1984" published a demand on its website on September 8 this year for Latvia to stop supplying weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. Otherwise, the group threatened to carry out terrorist activities against specific Latvian companies that produce and supply weapons to Ukraine. On September 10, within the criminal process, VDD detained one person in Riga and conducted criminal procedural actions at the person's residence and in their car. Currently, the service is analyzing data carriers and other items seized during the search. The detained person has been remanded in custody as a security measure.

The Saeima in the final reading supported the transfer of the supervision function of the quick loan sector to the Bank of Latvia. A positive and logical step. https://t.co/e5j5sz6LOR

The Saeima in the final reading adopted a package of amendments to the law providing that from next year the supervision of non-bank consumer lenders will be transferred to the Bank of Latvia, thus including this segment in a unified financial sector supervision system. The adopted changes provide that the Bank of Latvia will take over from the Consumer Rights Protection Centre the licensing and supervision functions of non-bank consumer lenders, as well as consumer rights protection functions for the entire financial sector and supervision of unfair commercial practices and advertising in the field of financial services.

🛑 ELECTION CHEAT SHEET - LOOK AT DEEDS, NOT PROMISES! I am publishing the faces and votes of deputies so you can see who supports the legal recognition of two mothers in a child's documents. NA and AS politicians, who call themselves conservatives and defenders of Christian values, where did your faith and conviction go? ZZS has corrected themselves this time and supported. They learn from mistakes, because they know how to lose voters and fight for 5%. With Vienotība and Progresīvie everything is clear - whether two mothers or five fathers, what's the difference?! The image also separately indicates 27 deputies who do not appear in the voting list and who left the chamber because of shame… KIS KIS SHAME… deputy is bad….. Save this image!

@Oslejs @BTiesiskums @IvarsAuzins @KNL_LTV1 In recent years, everything has turned out completely opposite to what you say. For years now, aB has been "guided" by your musings. We see the results.

@BTiesiskums @IvarsAuzins @AndrisVelps @KNL_LTV1 An airline serving only Latvia is not possible due to too small a scale and thus high costs. The Estonians and Lithuanians already tried it. So saying that 30 is already too many is incorrect. The new plan is the minimum possible volume. 100 is much better, but that requires funding.

So that people's rights are better protected! After persistent work, an important change has finally been achieved – non-bank lenders will henceforth be supervised by the Bank of Latvia. And that is already a good step forward!

Important questions for the Minister of the Interior @janisdombrava regarding national security. I hope the answers will contain no omissions or politically correct evasions. 1. What has been the level of state investment in strengthening Latvia's border security from 2014 to 2026? 2. How was it possible that groups of foreign chaos agents recruited by Belarusian special services regularly enter Latvia? It is no secret that the Lukashenko regime, in cooperation with the international human trafficking mafia, sends these groups to the EU to destabilize it. Another goal is to replenish various radical organizations with new recruits. The word "refugees" is used just as cynically as Putin said in 2014 that the "little green men" who entered Crimea were unknown to him. 3. Have the persons in Latvia involved in these schemes of the Kremlin's ally and in undermining the security of Latvia and the EU been identified? 4. Has the connection of these persons with the international human trafficking mafia, with which Lukashenko's special services actively cooperate, been established? 5. Will the work of the security services be assessed in preventing this extraordinary threat, identifying the guilty, and bringing them to justice? 6. What specific actions does the minister plan to take to assess and eliminate the inaction of the security institutions?

Thinking and interested young people are one of Latvia's 🇱🇻 strongest values 💪 It was a genuine pleasure to host the students of Limbaži State Gymnasium at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the visit, the young people got acquainted with the Ministry's work, the history of Latvian diplomacy, and the people whose work at various times has helped strengthen our country internationally. The meeting with Foreign Minister @Braze_Baiba and Parliamentary Secretary @dacemelbarde turned into an active discussion about international developments and Latvia's place in the world. The students were intrigued by the security situation in Europe, developments in the Middle East, Latvia's relations with partners, and questions of societal development. Thank you to the young people of Limbaži for their curiosity and thoughtful questions 💡

The European Commission President's annual State of the Union speech is somewhat of a ritual – one must address everyone and everything. Also this year: climate, migration, competitiveness, technology. I positively assess what was said about competitiveness and technological development. In artificial intelligence, Europe must focus more on industrial and manufacturing solutions, rather than trying to replicate the path of US and China's large language models. It is also good that the consensus on supporting Ukraine in institutions remains. However, overall I assess the speech quite critically. We heard little about the protection of the eastern border and investments. Initiatives to strengthen the border, including defense against drones, have already been voiced, but this time they were not among the main highlights of the speech. Also, the issue of Russia's frozen assets was not touched upon. For us in the Baltics, these are not secondary topics. They will need to be discussed.

🎾 The "Latvijas attīstībai" candidate for the Prime Minister's office and Member of the European Parliament Ivars @Ijabs believes that Latvia's biggest problem is not a lack of ideas, but the inability to make difficult decisions in time. In the interview, he reveals why Europe is an opportunity, not an obstacle, why Ukraine is also a Latvian security issue, and why without a strong economy it will not be possible to solve any other state problem. 👉 Read the full interview with Ivars Ijabs on our website: https://t.co/kV7hLHQIlx
