This Saeima has been conditionally conservative since its election, no Istanbul Convention 'shone'. But then JV and PRO decided to buy in the black market—behind red lines. They bought ZZS. https://t.co/7m0Lji9bp9 It seems Mieriņa is talking exactly about that—democratic values costing money.😏 https://t.co/AjGUQA4Qtq

When the Interior Minister writes to another EU country's Interior Minister, it's a scandal, but when the one who lured Russian journalists - against @Valsts_drosiba recommendations - Gunta Sloga slanders the Latvian state, then it's OK? Were these messages coordinated with @Arlietas? On Thursday, the Baltic Centre for Media Excellence (BCMC) together with other Latvian civil society organizations – Centre MARTA, Latvian Human Rights Centre and Latvian Civic Alliance – met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, to discuss the human rights and democracy challenges currently facing Latvia and Europe. BCMC Executive Director Gunta Sloga emphasized that today Latvia faces serious threats to the information space and media, carried out not only by representatives of hostile states, but also by individual politicians and groups at home.

Terrorism tries to break people with fear. Ukraine proves every day that courage, the will for freedom, and national unity cannot be broken. Today, on 11 September, the International Day against Terrorism, in Kyiv together with Ukrainian colleagues and international partners I honored the memory of victims of terrorism and fallen employees of the State Criminal Enforcement Service of Ukraine. Since Russia's started war, more than a thousand employees of the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice system have joined the defenders of the state. 58 of them have fallen defending their land, nation, and the right to live in a free country. Behind every number is a person, a family, and a life that Russian terror has brutally cut short. I bow my head before the fallen. Their courage places upon us a duty not to tire, to continue supporting Ukraine, and to do everything possible so that the aggressor is held accountable. Heroes die only when they are forgotten. We will not forget. 🇱🇻🇺🇦

@partijaMMN We are reducing taxes.

Creative Friday. What does the abbreviation MMN mean to you? Apart from the well-known “We change the rules”. I have heard that we are called “We change names”, and also “We change the world” (?) and “We don't want migrants”. Let your imagination run wild in the comments.

With all this propping up, flooding in, and lack of control of migrants, Latvia faces a very harsh awakening… if only it would come to its senses and not indulge in complacency with the words – this doesn't affect me. Only a person disloyal to their land can wish greater misfortune and ruin upon their own people.

@Aardark @JaksRaimonds @partijaMMN Thank you for the comment. Your activity under our posts certainly increases the visibility of the party account and thus the percentages. Keep commenting. If with 6.7% one can get the prime minister's post (as some managed after the 13th Saeima elections), then one can also get electoral reform.

@JazepsBasko @JaksRaimonds @partijaMMN MMN's absurd theatre continues. Something is brewing about the 'most rational choice' and 'high-yield vote' – for a party that has a 3% rating a few weeks before the election. Even if, miraculously, they manage to get to 5%, it's clear that the promised changes will not come with such a number of mandates.

It is possible to save approximately 200 thousand euros in the construction of the sports complex! One of my priorities is to prevent wasteful spending in the internal affairs system. The Police College has long needed proper sports infrastructure, but I was not satisfied with the costs. The State Security Agency together with colleagues from the State Police College carefully reviewed the project and created solutions to save almost 200,000 euros, which will be directed to other goals related to the State Police College to improve the study environment. We will create a solution so that young police officers have the opportunity to closely follow the further construction process on the college territory for training purposes, representing state interests. The planned stadium construction works will start this autumn, and the internal affairs students will receive the new infrastructure facility for use in the spring of 2028. Within the framework of the construction of the State Police College sports complex, it is planned to install four running tracks, open sports fields, and stands with auxiliary rooms. The new sports infrastructure will provide a higher quality study environment that meets modern requirements and needs, while also promoting the improvement of physical fitness of both State Police College cadets and State Police officials.

Party 'Mēs mainām noteikumus' Riga list's 21st number is @JaksRaimonds — he is also the translator of Friedrich Hayek's books 'The Road to Serfdom' and 'The Constitution of Liberty' (will be published after the elections) into Latvian. On Facebook he wrote a good article: WHY VOTING FOR @partijaMMN IN THESE SAEIMA ELECTIONS IS THE MOST RATIONAL CHOICE Latvia's main problem is not one or another unsuccessful government, but the system itself, which creates weak incentives for politicians, diffuse responsibility, growing bureaucracy and ever-increasing state expenditures. Therefore, voting for MMN is the most rational choice, because MMN offers not another manager of this system, but an attempt to change the rules themselves. Some, in my opinion, important points: 1. Latvia's problem is not a lack of new promises, but a system in which bad decisions repeat. Parties for many years promise better health, education, demographics, roads and higher salaries. MMN goes one level deeper: electoral system, state administration structure, personal responsibility, budget formation and the amount of regulation. The program's center is indeed electoral reform and a 'general cleanup', not increasing individual expenditure programs. 2. MMN is the only choice where the voter votes for a change of the political system. The proposed STV or single transferable vote system would allow the voter to rank specific candidates, also from different political forces, in smaller electoral districts. This would reduce party leadership control over which people actually end up in the Saeima and increase competition among the candidates themselves. MMN points to Ireland's long experience with this model. Even a voter who does not agree with the entire MMN program may rationally vote for the party if he considers the current political selection mechanism to be one of the causes of Latvia's stagnation. 3. The economic philosophy is consistent. MMN does not offer simply another way to redistribute existing money. Its chosen direction is reducing state intervention, lower regulatory burden, a flat PIT rate, 10% MUN up to €50,000 turnover, abolishing real estate tax for the only home, reducing state competition with the private sector and reducing the number of state-owned companies. So for those who believe that Latvia's growth is hindered more by an excessively large state, too much regulation and weak economic incentives, rather than insufficient state intervention, MMN's offer is ideologically consistent. 4. MMN offers something politically much more difficult than financing new programs. It offers to give up the existing. Zero-based budgeting would mean that expenditures are not automatically carried over from the previous year; each function would have to be justified anew. The necessity of each function, program and position would have to be evaluated. The program also provides for the liquidation or merger of institutions, reducing the number of state-owned companies and achieving a balanced budget within one Saeima term. This is significant because almost any party can name things that need more money. Much rarer does politics begin with the question: what should the state no longer do at all? 5. In the MMN model, the principle of responsibility is important. The program's formulation is very simple: for each decision and matter there must be one responsible person. This seems like an administrative detail, but in fact it touches one of the classic problems of public administration. It redefines the collective process where there are many coordinators, commissions and institutions, but in case of failure it is difficult to identify personal responsibility. 6. MMN combines a conservative view of society with economically right-wing policy. The party itself associates its conservatism with national sovereignty, freedom of speech, private property and family, while right-wing economic policy is associated with reducing tax and regulatory burden. In Latvian politics, such a combination is not self-evident: nationally conservative rhetoric quite often coexists with economically interventionist policy. 7. Voting for MMN is therefore a higher-yield political vote. If you vote for a traditional party and it gains a few extra mandates, the system will essentially remain the same. But if MMN gains sufficient political influence, its main demand (transformation of the electoral system and state administration) will also change the quality of the next elections and governments. ----- If you liked what you read, donate to the party 'Mēs mainām noteikumus' victory — for radio advertising. Russia is a state that security services have created and run in their own interests, and such a state of affairs is systemic, not temporary. Putin is not an anomaly that stands above a normal state apparatus. He is a product of this apparatus. And so will be the one who comes after him. https://t.co/BdNP0vzOSz
