@uzhosnah@vitaamiins@JurisRubergs@karlwithanl@thearmi 1. Which theory claims that? Capitalism is very successfully lifting the world out of poverty. 2. The Progressives are hindering drivers and pedestrians. 3. That is exactly why bike lanes are not needed.
@zuravlevs@vitaamiins@JurisRubergs@karlwithanl@thearmi 1. Not everyone ever will, especially under capitalism. 2. Where's the freedom in that? Has anyone FORBIDDEN you from driving a car? 3. You won't build much wider streets in Riga's center anymore. 4. Homeless people are unfortunately a reality. And yes, I fully agree that public transport won't always be able to replace a car.
With Tom Berendsen, Foreign Minister of the Netherlands, we visited Terehova, where Latvia guards the Eastern border of the EU and #NATO 🇱🇻🇳🇱🇪🇺.
We agreed to strengthen cooperation in defence, countering illegal migration, and enforcement of EU sanctions against Russia. https://t.co/UyRc3ILcPf

If a political force cannot clearly say that Vladimir Putin must stand trial for Russia's crimes committed in Ukraine, then that is a deliberate evasion of naming the aggressor. I asked a simple question, to which a simple answer was needed: yes or no? I never got an answer. In matters of Latvia's national security there can be no half-truths, evasive excuses, and Kremlin propaganda theses. Russia is an aggressor state. Putin's regime is responsible for the brutal war in Ukraine, and the guilty must stand trial. When choosing Latvia's politicians, it is important to understand – will they defend Latvia or will they look for excuses for Russia. Here the dividing line is very clear. 🇱🇻🇺🇦 #APVIENOTAISSARAKSTS@LRApvieniba@Apvienotais_ Video: TV24
We continue interviews with prime ministerial candidates. Andris Šuvajevs believes that after the elections there will be only two coalition options — either with the Progressives or with Šlesers. In the interview we also asked about the reasons and consequences of the Siliņa government's fall.

Latvia needs not another fairy tale of beautiful promises, but courage to make difficult decisions and fix what has been spoiled in previous years.
THE UNITED LIST sees Latvia as a safe, strong, and self-confident country. A country where society is united, people trust each other, and the government is worthy of the trust of its people. A Latvia that no one can intimidate or threaten and that our children do not have to leave to seek a happy land elsewhere.
The path will not be easy, but the happy land is not to be sought in the world – we must build it together right here.
Eternal sunshine to Latvia! 🇱🇻

“Nobody in the world has the kind of military experience that Ukraine — and Russia have. And if you don’t want to deal with Russia, deal with us. We are ready to share,” Kyrylo Budanov says in Riga. “Our experience is very expensive in blood and treasure — so save your blood and save your treasure.”
Yesterday in the European Parliament's @EP HOUS committee, Commissioner @DanJoergensen introduced us to the long-awaited Affordable #Housing Act. Unfortunately, I cannot join those who very positively assess the proposal.👇 Instead of coming up with solutions to reduce administrative burden, simplify procedures, promote energy efficiency and renovations, the draft regulation focuses on new prohibitions and restrictions. Moreover, the measures are targeted only at short-term rental residences and tourist housing in large tourist metropolises in Western Europe. Implementation of the proposed measures will create additional bureaucratic procedures and a large risk of over-regulation, the so-called 'gold plating' - even residents of Madrid and Berlin are unlikely to be beneficiaries. I hope that European housing policy can be turned in a more sensible and effective direction. I think that after yesterday's discussion with our committee, it became clear to the Commissioner that in this wording the European Parliament will not be able to support the bill. We need more quality and affordable housing in all regions, not more bureaucracy. @EPPGroup@Jauna_Vienotiba
