@renatelz Wow.... this is so touching, deeply warming the heart. What’s the little one’s name and how old are they?

It's important for the little one to watch the news every evening. Tonight before falling asleep he asked me to show him the Prime Minister again, the one he can't really pronounce, but I understood what he wanted. I turned on @AndrisKulbergs's video of thanks to the nation. My son looked shyly and said: “When I meet him, I'll tell him,

What do @AndrisKulbergs and @MarisKucinskis think about tightening Latvijas Loto's belt? With comparable income of €100 million, we have 160 employees with a €7.5 million wage fund, but Estonians have <60 employees with €3.5 million in wages. Did the sports fund lack exactly €3 million? https://t.co/nN7llMTKzh

I understand that at school they plan to teach - if you don't have a family, you are a bad person. A way not to include people in society, but to push away those who, for various reasons, have not managed to start a family https://t.co/MefGBbxvHo

I disagree, and here is why. A professional in the ministerial post works with a party mandate. Politically supervised. That will always be so by definition, because no party will put in someone who does not promise to implement the party's directives. If they fail, they are recalled. If they turn out not professional enough, too. The problem with MPs who become ministers is that they are harder to recall. Even if they totally ruin everything. There are many examples. Why are they not recalled? Because they are usually party bigwigs, leaders. They essentially put themselves in 'a bigger salary and more TV time'. Who can recall them then? That is why in the end there are various messes and incompetence.

Simple. You need to see whether the officials are carrying out your instructions. And there are two options. If you are a slogan-spouting monkey, they will never carry them out. Then you're to blame. No one will ever listen to a manager-monkey. If that's not it and you see resistance, then you can't work. Then you have to resolve the personnel issue. In practice, I have observed that officials do not refuse to meet with any significant political force. And they don't even hide it. They already don't know which monkey or human will be the next boss. But in everyday work, of course, the current manager determines the progress. Everything goes to the Saeima through the political filter. Which is logically correct.

@guntarsv @akberzins @AndrisKulbergs What will we do with state secretaries if politicians themselves are going to organise ministry work? 🙂 And what will we do when the political directive changes from “to the right!” to “to the left!”? Will we replace all the officials in the entire ministry? Better slower, but with thought. Statesmen, after all (?)

@ivars_auzins @akberzins @AndrisKulbergs That is indeed true. From my (financial) sphere — take the budget deficit, for instance. Social media holds the view that 'let's fire civil servants', put all salaries at the minimum at best, and everything will be fine. That is classic financial illiteracy. And on a truly apocalyptic scale.

Politicians can only name the goal, usually in terms of a wish. But only a professional in the field can say HOW to turn that wish into reality — in concrete steps. It doesn't always work out, of course, because even professionals can be unsystematic idiots for whom higher-order thinking is a foreign concept. But at least there is some hope.

@kr_klavins And where were our dashing border guards then, lounging in the office by warm radiators? Do electricity boxes and cameras guard themselves?🙂

@janisdombrava, you should probably understand that putting a distribution cabinet on the border is sheer stupidity... well, for starters.

Armed escorts of illegal immigrants threatened our soldiers NBS soldiers stopped 20 illegal immigrants' attempt to illegally cross our border, but unlike many previous cases this time the provocation was particularly demonstrative and aggressive. The escorts of illegal migrants, who were on the Belarusian side, were armed, made threats to NBS soldiers, and actively urged and drove the group of migrants towards Latvia. A few hours after this conflict, masked people entered Latvian territory, damaged a distribution cabinet and stole cameras before the border guard detail arrived; the persons returned to Belarusian territory. Belarus should understand that such incidents can lead to more serious consequences for Belarus itself.
