Another sleazy Kremlin Braže trick. They could put various Ovechkins and comedians on the blacklist within an hour, and no competent authorities were needed for that. But now – “I have decided to start the process”...🤡🤡🤡 https://t.co/48bFVxBjG6

Taking into account the information received today from the competent authorities, and after discussions with the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior, I have decided to initiate the process of adding another Russian citizen to Latvia's persona non grata list.

Aggressive and armed escorts from Belarus have tried to "push" a group of illegal migrants into Latvia

I nevertheless think that it needs to be investigated why voters crossed out Aivis Ceriņš @CerinsAivis. He is a great Latvian patriot. Serves in the National Guard. Hosts a TV programme, speaks openly and honestly. Looks very good, has a beautiful family (divorced or not, that is another matter). Has his side steps without murders worthy of crime novels. Says nothing bad about his ex-wife. And as a reward, not many pluses, but minuses. Why?!. I really don't understand this. So for Latvians, such people are to be crossed out? That is, I still think there is envy and jealousy, from both women and men.

Armed escorts of illegal immigrants threatened our soldiers NBS soldiers stopped 20 illegal immigrants' attempt to illegally cross our border, but unlike many previous cases this time the provocation was particularly demonstrative and aggressive. The escorts of illegal migrants, who were on the Belarusian side, were armed, made threats to NBS soldiers, and actively urged and drove the group of migrants towards Latvia. A few hours after this conflict, masked people entered Latvian territory, damaged a distribution cabinet and stole cameras before the border guard detail arrived; the persons returned to Belarusian territory. Belarus should understand that such incidents can lead to more serious consequences for Belarus itself.

This week the National Armed Forces once again faced deliberately organized pushing of illegal migrants from Belarus to Latvia. This time, a group of at least 20 illegal migrants, led by escorts dressed in masks, tried to illegally cross the Latvian state border. NBS soldiers stopped the border-crossing attempt, but unlike many previous cases, this time the provocation was particularly demonstrative and aggressive. The escorts of the illegal migrants were armed, made threats to NBS soldiers, and actively urged and drove the group of migrants toward Latvia. What happened confirms that deliberate provocations and hybrid threats on the Latvia–Belarus border will continue, using illegal migration as a tool to put pressure on Latvia and, at the same time, on the European Union's and NATO's external border. NBS will continue to provide support to the State Border Guard on the Latvia–Belarus and Latvia–Russia borders in order to jointly respond to the challenges, provocations and other hybrid threats caused by illegal migration.

No, quite the opposite. People vote for ideas, not for implementation. Those are different things. They vote for promises. A deputy is a legislator, defines ideas, elects, and sets the big framework (laws). They are elected for that. No one asks — and how will you implement it, can you show that you can? And mostly they can't, because few have experience, understanding, and management skills. Running ministries is something completely different. It is a complex mechanism, requiring a skilled manager. Completely different skills. Show me 5 politicians who have managed it in 35 years? If there are, then why is so much botched? Those are different things. And since they are mixed, what results? The answer is the dominance of technocracy. Civil servants are professionals of their craft. They outplay the formal 'leader' and wait for the next minister. Because with sprinkling ideas and sloganism in meetings, in the eyes of civil servants you are just another clown. Without authority.

@guntarsv @akberzins @AndrisKulbergs Okay, but then why are such deputies and party leaders needed who can't do anything? Let's fill those Saeima seats with professionals too…

German officials said that Russia wasn’t currently part of the Hanning treason investigation. Does that mean they already know why Hanning frequently traveled to Russia on business after leaving the BND, including this trip to St. Petersburg in 2019? https://t.co/4QdUtvGOrd

Not only me or Aiva Vīksna, Kulbergs himself, then neurosurgeon Putniņš, civil servant Brencis, the prime minister's adviser Bolēvics, former health minister Meņģelsone. They elected us, but what? None of us are party members; the government is led by non-partisan Andris with his own personal understanding. So what? Bad? There are other people working in the office who were not elected. And? If they don't cope, they'll be replaced. The United List is a special construction. Others don't have one like it. The boundary between a professional and a party member practically does not exist. A mix. Is it bad, then, that professionals hold positions (elected or otherwise)? I support @AndrisKulbergs's position. In every case it is better than when there are only professional talkers without doers. Then all positions are filled with only pleasantly (re)speaking people.

Accountability before voters is nevertheless easier to achieve if you can replace an incompetent minister/manager. One who does not implement your plans, which you promised to the voter. You are answerable for promises; no one elects you for an ability to run something. If you put yourself in, then it comes into conflict with yourself and is practically impossible. We have seen that very often. The problem is even more nuanced. If you put someone other than yourself as minister, then you are not the one basking on TV. But electability is proportional to visibility, which the minister gains more of. And then in the next elections... Right now there is an interesting situation with the defence minister, for example. He is a true professional, but he is not in parties. Is that bad? Or maybe fresh air?

7 seats, and she sits at the president’s table like the lady of the house. The voter has spoken, just not in the language that New Unity understands. And yet Evika Siliņa emerges from Riga Castle with the same face with which a person leaves a bank that has refused them a loan, and still orders a yacht. The partners, look, will be AS, NA and also the Progressives. And now this same company, shrunk to a microscopic faction, dictates with whom one may sit at the table and with whom one may not. Is that not a mental deviation? A person who has been the head chef in the kitchen for 17 years does not understand that he has been appointed as a dishwasher. The voter has given Kulbergs a mandate. Let Unity count its 7 chairs and learn to sit quietly. https://t.co/aMHPjYxK5R

Employees of several Belarusian (or Russian) special services crossed Latvia’s border in Latgale, damaged our border guard infrastructure, stole several surveillance cameras, and returned to Belarus before Latvia’s State Border Guard arrived on the scene. BLR is escalating. https://t.co/UQXWvUkocm

Of course, a “professional” non-party minister would answer to the party, but that is again one step further from accountability to the voters. Unlike Saeima deputies, who have more teamwork in legislation, in the executive branch the individual management of ministries is nevertheless very personal. In my opinion, it demands personal accountability before the voters.
