READING LITERACY! Below all criticism. This is how far we have come with education content reforms, which, in my opinion, urgently need to be reformed back from the competence and proficiency approach to classical teaching methods that ensure stable academic knowledge foundations. https://t.co/cuQv7E4OzH

As Chair of the Board of @Jauna_Vienotiba, together with the Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia, we signed a memorandum on strengthening social partnership. It is important to me that decisions on the labour market, remuneration, social protection and health care are made in dialogue with the people whom they affect most directly. A strong economy is not just growth indicators. It is also the opportunity for people to receive fair remuneration, feel safe in their workplace and build a better life for themselves and their families. Therefore, we will continue to talk, cooperate and seek solutions that work for people.

Threats spread by a pro-Kremlin group to Latvian companies are being taken very seriously. For a long time, the goal of Russia's organized malicious activities has been to increase tension and fear in European countries in order to reduce support for Ukraine. State security institutions will take measures to strengthen security at sabotage-risk facilities.

Simplified expropriation of real estate for public needs ✅ The government has supported the Ministry of Justice's proposal to abandon an unnecessary bureaucratic step in the voluntary expropriation of real estate for public needs. If a property is needed for the construction of a road, railway, or another publicly significant object and an agreement has been reached with the owner, after determining fair compensation, a separate Cabinet of Ministers decision will no longer be necessary. This means: 🔹 the process can be completed about a month faster; 🔹 the owner will receive fair compensation sooner; 🔹 government employees will not have to spend time on a procedure that no longer changes the decision in essence. In the implementation of "Rail Baltica" alone, such an additional government decision has so far been needed in more than 100 cases. Public administration must work efficiently. If a procedure does not provide real added value, it must be abandoned! It is important to add that nothing is taken from the owner without compensation, and their rights do not change. Compensation will also continue to be fair and correspond to the actual value of the property. If a previously performed property assessment has become outdated, the property will need to be re-assessed before the decision is made. ℹ️ Now the Saeima must decide on the amendments.

Dear Tom, I look forward to welcoming you to Riga, Latvia. 🇳🇱🇱🇻

As EU and NATO partners, the Baltic states and the Netherlands work together on European security, support for Ukraine and more pressure on Russia to end the war. I look forward to discussing and strengthening our cooperation during my visits to Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia.

https://t.co/gok1OBNN4L I'm interested in why 🇱🇻 voted for the new UN map with Crimea added to Russia, but 🇱🇹 and 🇪🇪 didn't, it turns out we don't even need ST, we can manage ourselves as they say...Braže, what's going on with you?

The government led by AS promises to increase the fee for Russian and Belarusian grain cargoes and their processing in Latvia's infrastructure by 300%. Two questions arise. Why do the restrictions apply only to grain, not to all imports and exports with aggressor countries? And why a 300% tariff instead of a complete ban on transit of these cargoes? There is a risk that the loud announcement will become a simulation of action. The procedure for cargo inspections and origin determination still needs to be developed, the EU regulations and already concluded contracts need to be assessed. Therefore, the government must say clearly. When exactly will the restrictions take effect and how many Russian cargoes will actually cross Latvia after that? The goal should not be to collect more, but to stop servicing the aggressor state's cargo.

💯 100 days in government. 100 days with concrete work for Latvia's defense, health, foreign affairs, and transport. 🇱🇻 Strengthened eastern border and anti-drone defense. 💊 Less to pay for medicines, healthcare preserved in regions, and steps taken for shorter queues. 🇺🇦 Latvia's security priorities in NATO strengthened and continued support for Ukraine. 🚌 Additional funding found for public transport and road repairs in regions. 📈 Strengthened economic security, exports, and Latvia's interests in Europe. ✅ In 100 days much has been done, but there is still more to do. With your trust on October 3, we will continue the work started, so that Latvia is a safer, stronger, and more prosperous country. (1/2)

Profit is not brought only by the so-called universal service, well there postal delivery in far forests etc. But providing such a service is required by an EU directive. In any case, it must be subsidized by the state and it does so. In Estonia, for example, it affects about 5% of postal deliveries. Every year money must be given to the so-called delegated function. That in no way requires private or state ownership.

@guntarsv If privatized, any normal business's task is to make profit. If the post hasn't been able to do it for years, the question is - how will business achieve it? Will they cut employees, reduce branches,
