16693DECISIONS AFTER THE STORM Electricity disappeared for 280,000 households, communications disappeared, radio didn't report, coordination was weak, payment systems didn't work, ATMs didn't work, medicines couldn't be sold even if there was electricity because data systems didn't work. That was the reality, where even the energy crisis state wasn't declared. We gathered yesterday for a meeting to decide what needs to change to be more prepared - we heard from the KVC (Crisis Management Center) and services. We immediately adopted 12 urgent decisions to improve readiness so that the next storm/crisis situation wouldn't catch us so unprepared. (I don't really understand what the state has been doing all the previous 4 years) = GOOD NEWS - electricity damage (over 2000 cases) was cleaned up very quickly (Lithuania with a smaller number is still fighting with thousands of unconnected homes); all hospitals worked without electricity disruption, generators worked 🟠Latvia must create a unified, practically functioning crisis management system, where the state, municipalities and critical service providers operate according to a common plan. (Example should be taken from Ukraine, where all services are in a unified system) 🟠The protective belt widths of AST and ST power line trees must be increased so that there aren't so many damages. 🟠The mobile network must work not 4 hours without electricity, but at least 72 hours, voice calls need better coverage, in crisis situations Latvian users must be able to have local roaming between operators. 🟠Offline, or non-online mode, must allow payment for fuel, food, medicines for both businesses and individuals with cash or credit card. 🟠Ensuring continuity of communications and electricity, creating a unified information channel and organizing regular training, during which we will inventory crisis resources and ensure our readiness. 🟠I want to emphasize that crisis management training must be regular. And of course, still important – timely and unified communication. Because creating an information channel will have no result if we cannot promptly and professionally inform the public. 🟠Old, outdated limits must be reviewed – cash transactions, the tiny liters of fuel, etc. 🟠Residents have been asked for years to prepare for 72-hour situations. The same readiness principle must apply to the state, municipalities and critical public service providers. In some sectors, the necessary autonomous operation time could be longer than 72 hours, according to risk assessment. 🟠 KVC work must be significantly improved. The Crisis Management Center must compile proposals from sectors and come with concrete solutions to the government in the areas discussed today. https://t.co/qnnUjGTXhm
I recommend reading it. It is regrettable, of course, that it is not told by the groveling and two-faced @AndrisKulbergs or some other Latvian official, nor by all those 'honest karginomists' @guntarsv and the like. But well, at least someone tells it - to the very end of the intended process. And these are as follows. Owners: Polus & Klirmark - 60%, Bondholders - 30%, State - 10%. The dream of a 'national airline' will be over. Another confirmation of a 'failed state'.

Yesterday, on September 5, a serious incident occurred during a walk of the preschool "Riekstiņš" pupils, in which six children were injured. A group of 19 children, accompanied by a teacher and a teacher's assistant, had gone on a previously agreed walk outside the educational institution's territory, following the approved walking route. During the walk, two unsupervised dogs approached the group of children from the end of Lašu Street. According to information provided by the institution, six children were injured in the incident, two of whom were hospitalized. One of the teachers accompanying the children was also injured. Four administrative violation proceedings have been initiated in connection with the incident. The Food and Veterinary Service (PVD) has been informed and will take action within its competence regarding the assessment of the dogs. The municipality is cooperating with the police, the Food and Veterinary Service, and other responsible services to clarify all circumstances and assess necessary further safety measures. After the police's procedural actions, the dogs were handed over to their owner. https://t.co/xHOtQmRb3g

@vlad_sok @andrislov They are Bolsheviks. Let's not confuse. They want to come and kill all the different ones the very next day. Changing the rules immediately and now is from Lenin's writings. Good choice, matches the contingent. I recommend voting!
From@vlad_sok@guntarsv @andrislov Then start showing results. Start chopping wood. Otherwise, in the end they will elect MMN and Jāzeps Baško, who has an identical view on reducing state administration.

From@Denys_ShmyhalThe Nordic and Baltic countries will work to mobilise additional financial, material and technical support for Ukraine’s energy sector ahead of winter. I thank the energy ministers of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden for their joint statement following the NB8 meeting in Tallinn. It is also important to us that this assistance meets Ukraine’s actual needs and contributes to long-term resilience, decentralisation and the further integration of our energy system into the European energy market. Over the years of war, Ukraine has gained significant practical experience in maintaining and restoring energy supplies amid physical and cyberattacks. We are ready to share this experience with our partners. In 2026 alone, the NB8 countries have allocated at least €918 million to support Ukraine’s energy supplies and the protection and restoration of its energy infrastructure. I thank our partners for their consistent support for Ukraine’s energy sector.

No. That is not the level of the civil service, by and large it's the coalition, but actually the Saeima. Also, you can't really take money away from any ministry, because funding is allocated according to the budget law. Only small amounts can be redistributed here and there, and even then with the ministry's consent (which is what happens).
From@Janis8578943573@guntarsv @GirtsKarnitis Really can't reduce even one FTE in 4 months until the elections?
