From@LapinsGirtsNO to immigrants!!! This morning at a picket in support of Interior Minister @janisdombrava. Dombrava is a guarantee for the work of curbing immigration, despite the pro-Russian progressive attacks, maneuvers to stifle the immigration problem. We simply don't need immigrants, Latvia is the home of Latvians. https://t.co/5LiZCUmidV

From@Jauna_Vienotiba🇱🇻 Latvia must make a clear choice in these elections about the country's future course. In a lengthy interview with the magazine Ir, our prime ministerial candidate @aseradens talks about security, economy, immigration, Rail Baltica, airBaltic, a possible coalition, and the red lines that NEW UNITY will not cross. The interview also discusses how to achieve a breakthrough in Latvia's economy, what a smart and safe immigration policy should be, and why major state projects should be assessed pragmatically, not ideologically. ➡️ Read the full interview in Ir: https://t.co/MzztwOleWf

From@wartranslatedReuters reports that Norway has seized a Russian vessel due to $4.22 billion in unpaid compensation owed to Naftogaz for Crimea. By decision of a Norwegian court in Svalbard, the Russian-owned ship Professor Molchanov, which was used for commercial expedition cruises, was impounded. This marks the first practical step in Norway toward enforcing the Hague arbitration ruling, which back in April 2023 ordered Russia to pay Naftogaz $4.22 billion plus interest and legal costs for assets seized following the occupation of Crimea. https://t.co/YllioLMW7z

Impressive. In Sweden, applications for new nuclear power plant construction 11GW. https://t.co/CGfxVFKJrr
From@sollidnuclearSweden’s nuclear applications now cover up to ~11 GW, potentially exceeding the government’s 10 GW ambition for 2045 💥 Last week, I posted an updated map showing applications covering up to ~8 GW of new nuclear capacity in Sweden. I thought this would be the last update in a while. Turns out, I was wrong the very next day. Now I’m starting to run out of space on the map. Fortum-owned NuCore Energi has now applied for state aid for a new nuclear project in Oskarshamn with a potential capacity of 1.2-3.4 GW. And today, another one of the projects moved significantly forward. Studsvik has selected GE Vernova Hitachi and Samsung C&T as strategic collaborators for its ReFirm programme. The first project is now planned around four BWRX-300 reactors with a combined capacity of approximately 1.2 GW. This takes the maximum capacity covered by applications for new nuclear in Sweden to around 11 GW. That is now above the 10 GW level the Swedish government has used in its nuclear roadmap for 2045. There's now a total of seven proposed sites in the pipeline: 1️⃣ Videberg Kraft at Ringhals has applied for state aid for new nuclear. Rolls-Royce SMR has since been selected as supplier, with the project planned around three 470 MW reactors with a combined capacity of around 1.4 GW. 2️⃣ Kärnfull Next – a Studsvik company, has applied for site approval in Valdemarsvik for 4-6 SMRs with a total capacity of around 1.2-1.6 GW. Both Valdemarsvik and Nyköping are included in Studsvik’s ReFirm state-aid application and is one of two possible locations for the first 1.2 GW BWRX-300 project by GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy and Samsung C&T Corporation. 3️⃣ Blykalla has applied for both site approval and state aid for its project at Norrsundet. The project consists of six SEALER-55 reactors with a combined capacity of 330 MW. 4️⃣ Studsvik has applied for site approval at its existing site in Nyköping for 2-4 light-water reactors with a total capacity of around 0.6-1.4 GW. 5️⃣ Nordic Baseload Power AB has applied for both site approval and state aid for new nuclear at Barsebäck. The project consists of two large-scale boiling water reactors with a combined capacity of around 2.5 GW. 6️⃣ Blykalla has applied for site approval for a second reactor park at Untra in Tierp municipality. The project could consist of up to eight SEALER reactors with a combined capacity of up to 440 MW. No state-aid application has been announced for this project so far. 7️⃣ Fortum has applied for state aid for a new nuclear project at Oskarshamn covering 1.2-3.4 GW. The reactor technology has not yet been selected, with Fortum working with EDF and Westinghouse Electric Company and Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co.,Ltd. on large-scale reactor alternatives and GE Vernova Hitachi on the SMR alternative. The ~11 GW figure is the maximum capacity covered by the different applications, so it obviously does not mean that all 11 GW will be built.

No one but ourselves is responsible for the development of Latvian music. I am working on advancing a draft law on promoting music created in Latvia on radio stations. The draft law “Amendments to the Electronic Mass Media Law” provides for setting a gradual minimum share of Latvian-created music in radio programmes from 2028. Already now, in a large part of Latvian radio stations, music created in Latvia makes up 20-30% of the total airtime, and in some stations the share is even higher. At the same time, there are also radio stations where music created in Latvia is played very little or not at all. It is especially important that in certain radio programmes broadcast on radio frequencies owned by the Latvian state, a large part of the airtime is occupied by music created in Russia. The Constitution states that the Latvian state was founded so that the Latvian language and culture would exist across time. Music, including popular music, is an integral part of our culture. This means the issue is much broader than just the interests of the radio business. And as a Latvian patriot and musician, I will stand on the side of the common public good. We are a small nation with a unique language and culture that must be especially protected in the era of globalisation, including by the state – when allocating radio frequencies to private commercial operators, conditions important to the whole society must be set. We must understand that Latvia is the only place in the world where our music can be heard. Therefore, the law should include some mechanism that protects us, our identity and culture in the long term. I am glad that together with the ministry, well-known Latvian musicians, composers and producers are now speaking loudly about this issue. Support has also been received from cultural education institutions. I believe that in cooperation with broadcasters we can find a good solution to ensure guaranteed development opportunities for music created in Latvia and the opportunity to reach the listener. 🔗More here: https://t.co/z2fNk2i0y5
