Jānis Ilsteris on individual responsibility. Although Latvia suffers from pronounced overregulation, the excessive burden of rules and regulations does not lead to results. Every decision must be assigned a specific name - individual responsibility must be taken at every level and position of public administration. https://t.co/gbLDEYTt2q

@citskovskisj I hadn't heard before, Jāni, that, for example, mass alcoholism can be called capitalism and that one lives longer from it.

@guntarsv Guntar, our capitalism has led to the fact that a man's healthy life years are only 51, 10 less than the EU average. And it cannot stay that way.

@sidsloth261949 Half of society works and earns money. The other half would accordingly disagree with you.

@guntarsv It would be enough if the State at least didn't interfere with people and didn't pester them for money and time.

Daunis Auers very aptly expresses exactly my thoughts about such paper blocks as Gundars Bērziņš's LV2050: If there is some strategic planning document for 2050, why elections?!

I'll illustrate with the same health issue. We are one of the poorest EU countries. From our small GDP we collect about 34.9% in taxes, which is also a lower percentage than the EU average. Put both together - the total tax money is relatively low, of course. But. That medical equipment costs the same as elsewhere. Salaries? Top doctors earn well, otherwise they'll leave. Nurses - well, they'll also leave with a certain difference, and many do leave. The cost of the service here is cheaper than in rich countries, but not so cheap that we could finance much from the meager tax sum. In any sphere. Education, health included. And the recently added +3% for defense actually empties the room. In the Baltics, 7% of GDP is spent on health, the EU average is 10%. That difference is those 3%. With a poor country, such are the the benefits, the state-paid services. Poor. Want richer and better? It simply won come from public money. This is not about imagined notions of fairness or offense, but about means.

@guntarsv Where are those state-funded benefits visible? In fancy car fleets in state-owned companies? In salary increases for top officials and in state and municipal councils? An ordinary mortal's salary will be equal to the minimum wage, waiting in line to see a doctor for a year or two, and at least school is still here.

The promise to develop a 'Rail Baltica' implementation model was a rash commitment, assesses publicist Māris Zanders. He reminds that the construction of large infrastructure objects is also not going well elsewhere in Europe – costs are rising, deadlines are slipping.

“We haven't experienced this yet,” teachers and directors told Arvils Ašeradens (JV) about the planned changes in education exam thresholds, assessment, and other changes. He points out that it was to a lesser extent – unprofessional.

I am not too interested in what exactly “I want to help refugees” says regarding the migration restriction plan prepared by the Ministry of Interior, but we work very carefully with all ministries, said Interior Minister Jānis Dombrava (NA).

Andris Kulbergs partially agrees with this criticism, but he says he lacked time. Discussion on budget expenditures and how to increase revenues in the government could still take place in September, he promises.

If the government does not work with the state budget, does not open a substantive discussion, it cannot make any decisions, working with LDDK and LTRK does not solve it, so says Economy Minister Viktors Valainis (ZZS).

Jānis Dombrava (NA) responds that the National Alliance is ready to liquidate KEM, with Jānis Vitenbergs working on it, and a final decision will be made in early October. That, however, is news to the coalition partners.

Preliminary inflation in the eurozone 💶 and 🇱🇹🇱🇻🇩🇪🇫🇮🇪🇪. Eurozone inflation (3.2%) is higher than the ECB's upper target level (2%), so a repeated base rate hike is quite likely soon. In Lithuania - a particularly rapid rise in inflation. Incidentally, according to SEB Group's assessment, in Lithuania about half (46%) have withdrawn funds from the 2nd pension pillar for a total amount of 4.5% of GDP, of which the majority has ended up in bank accounts, and another part has gone into consumption.

University of Latvia professor Daunis Auers praises the energetic actions of Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs and Interior Minister Jānis Dombrava, noting that already in 1993 a sociological survey showed that the majority of residents indicated that they want to see a manager in state leadership.

Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (AS) reveals that currently access to state budget data is provided to the Latvian Employers' Confederation, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Foreign Investors Council.
