🙄 I think we managed to have a pretty good conversation, given that the questions were purely professional. 🤷🏻♂️ In the sense that this interview could be interesting both for a wider audience and for people writing theses about how propaganda works. 👏 Both Anastasija and Rūta have been researching this phenomenon for a long time, and, by the way, it is immediately felt in the choice of topics they decided to discuss in the program. 🤗 In my opinion, the hardest part was maintaining a balance between questions that could make clickbait headlines and delving into details that would likely interest only scientists. 💪 And the esteemed journalists did an excellent job with this task!
“Saskaņas centrs”, Ždanoka, Stepaņenko should be praised, Latvia should be shown as a country of idiots. @MaratQasem talks about instructions and calls to “report to the carpet” to Kiseļov, about whether Solovjovs and Zaharova really believe in the idea of “mighty Russia”. I recommend.
If every day you follow the news in the German press, you get the feeling that some part of Germany's state institutions lives in a parallel world.
Example: in 2024, the Federal Migration Office sent the Cologne migration office a list of 471 people (rejected asylum seekers) who must leave Germany, saying it could help with deportations. Cologne does not respond.
Result? Police report that so far, of these 471 people, 152 (!) have committed a total of 568 crimes. So every third person on the list has committed a crime(s) over two years instead of leaving/being deported from Germany.
A logically thinking person cannot understand that.
And then they wonder why people vote for AfD.

🚨Russia wants to starve the world. Attacks on grain infrastructure, ports, and maritime routes harm ~400 million people globally, including in some of the most vulnerable countries.
@FAO@_AfricanUnion@eu_eeashttps://t.co/kgYGmoLgVX
Overnight, Russia carried out a massive strike against Ukraine, targeting ports, grain storage, energy, industry, and other infrastructure with ballistic and hypersonic missiles and combat drones.
This is state terrorism. It does not show strength; it shows helplessness. Putin cannot and will not achieve anything on the battlefield. Instead, he is betting on terrorizing our cities, ports, and critical infrastructure.
Proving his terror futile will bring the end of this war closer.
Attacks on grain infrastructure, ports, and maritime routes are especially harmful not only to Ukraine, but to approximately 400 million people around the world. One hectare of Ukrainian agricultural land feeds 18 people globally.
We call for immediate action to overcome the consequences of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s grain exports: additional routes, quotas, grain storage equipment, and joint efforts to ensure freedom of navigation along our maritime routes.
Ahead of winter, we also call for additional support packages to strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience. We value every contribution: air defense, generation capacity, equipment, resources, and energy imports.
We are grateful to all our partners standing with us during this difficult time. Together, we will put an end to Russia’s war and restore peace in Europe.
@tomsneilands The Western justice system has become too lenient with criminals and too insensitive to victims. Pedophiles really should be castrated. That is my opinion.
@MaratQasem After long research into disinformation on Telegram, I saw coordinated channel networks, distribution of identical messages and mutual republishing. Now the former Sputnik editor-in-chief @MaratQasem confirms: at least some of these channels received Kremlin tasks and money. https://t.co/F3xElTOVdU

Day No. 62 (Thursday) in the prime minister's seat — AirBaltic address in the Saeima and the visit of the Lithuanian PM
Who makes the prime minister's daily video?
🏛️ Thursday began with an address in the Saeima
The speech was devoted to the vote on @airBaltic.
I emphasized that this vote is vitally important for the airline — it is effectively the last chance to escape the debt burden that, until now, was not accumulated by attracting 380 million € in financing during the JV government and E. Siliņa's leadership.
The positive signal — private financiers, not the state, are involved in attracting financing for AirBaltic. AirBaltic's future will no longer rest only on the state's shoulders.
Thank you to the Saeima deputies who acted in a state-minded way by voting in support of saving AB, so that it can finally sort out its finances and debts before attracting a strategic investor.
On Thursday, the first foreign visit of the Lithuanian PM took place — the new PM @mindaugassink visited Latvia.
As is usual among Baltic neighbors, we discussed all our common "Baltics" 😉 — airBaltic, Rail Baltica, Via Baltica, as well as other common issues for Latvia and Lithuania.
🛡️ We particularly emphasized the common challenges:
➖️illegal migration;
➖️security on our external border;
➖️Latvia and Lithuania cooperation in border protection.
🚁 We had also planned to go together to the Latvia–Belarus border, but the weather made adjustments — due to heavy rain we could not fly by helicopter.
I was ready to go by car, but the Lithuanian colleague chose not to go this time. No matter — next time. There are still plenty of border issues to address together.
🇱🇻🤝🇱🇹 The closer Latvia and Lithuania cooperate, the stronger the entire Baltics.
Consular service of @Latvian_MFA is in touch with authorities in Nepal and China to clarify the location of tourist groups from Latvia and contact them after the devastating flash floods. https://t.co/rRmd2fN3tI
Our colleagues at the @Arlietas Consular Department are in contact with Nepalese and Chinese authorities, with the help of the honorary consul and relatives of travelers, to ascertain the whereabouts of tourist groups from Latvia. None of the tourists have registered in the Consular Register.

On 27-28 August, Romania's 🇷🇴 Foreign Minister Oana Coju will visit Latvia 🇱🇻 on a working visit. Foreign Minister @Braze_Baiba will receive her Romanian counterpart and will discuss bilateral cooperation and cooperation in international organizations, Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine and the security situation in Europe, as well as current EU agenda items. 📸 🎥 More information and media opportunities: https://t.co/l8v99wt6zK
Happy Independence Day to Moldova and its people! 🇲🇩 Wishing you peace, prosperity, and continued success on your European path.
Warmest congratulations to @MihaiPopsoi and all Moldovans celebrating today.

I would really like a simple explanation why Kulberg's government considers investments in wind energy bad, but questionable real estate projects – good.
This morning the version was confirmed that the CIA director's visit to Moscow was related to Russia's plans to attack the Baltic states. That is why I repeat my post from yesterday. Because there is no more important work in the country right now than this:
It does not matter whether our country's highest officials have more information about the reasons for the CIA director's visit to Moscow, because the main thing was, is, and remains something else: Latvia must become a fortress in military terms. Both for creating a drone army and for involving and preparing the entire society for all possible scenarios (there is no shortage of examples - not only Ukraine or Israel). Unfortunately, it is clearly visible that in this regard our party politicians did nothing in the past 4 years and are still doing nothing now: still none of us knows how we could concretely help and act. They mumble something about 72-hour bags, but even gas stations, communications, and state radio, as we learned thanks to the storm, would be paralyzed within an hour.
Please let's forget about all kinds of Rail Baltica, NGO and other pseudo-problems - we need a government capable of preparing the country and society for X hour.
Task No. 1.

@andrisg15@dr_furmanis why would Putin worry about that, besides - the old world order is crumbling or has already largely collapsed, why would any individual part of the old architecture hold if all the others are collapsing?
@JurgisLiepnieks@dr_furmanis Hmm, what about the global nuclear doctrine? I.e. If there is no nuclear response to a nuclear attack on a non-nuclear state, that frees the hands of all those for whom the convention (read: US) prevents from creating nuclear weapons, because existing nuclear states still don't protect them, which is a prerequisite for someone to refuse to produce them themselves.
