I didn't quite understand? The increase is built into the coefficient written into the law, which increases on January 1... freezing is the fastest way to take action... the alternative is more complicated because the law needs to be changed... what exactly isn't clear here? There is no increase today... and none was planned on my part. It is a norm written into the law that the media interpreted, but before claiming anything, the budget must be approved.

@AndrisKulbergs What are these deadlines - next year? Why not immediately and now? Why freeze instead of reduce? These are astronomically huge sums...

Yesterday the NB8 (Nordic countries + Baltics) leaders' meeting took place in Kyiv, on Ukraine's national flag day. Here's a small excerpt from my closing speech https://t.co/opFI6GZB8d

Andris Kulbergs, PM of Latvia, in Kyiv: I personally did not believe in a peace agreement, and I still do not believe in one. Someone has to win, and it has to be Ukraine. And that is why we discussed today that we have wasted too much time talking about peace agreements. https://t.co/DQAjZoAuKv

Latvia experienced a widespread and strong storm during these holidays. It has been the strongest summer storm in Latvia since at least 1966. In such crises, people unite, helping each other, and political disputes quiet down. This morning electricity has not yet been restored, and therefore the most important thing is to help people and restore electricity, water supply, communications, public transport and traffic as quickly as possible. Condolences to the family of the deceased. Quick recovery to the injured. Thanks to rescuers, medics, municipal workers, energy company and road maintenance crews who worked all weekend in very difficult conditions and continue even now. From today's Crisis Management meeting, society must receive answers to three questions: when critical services will be restored, what assistance residents, municipalities and companies will receive, how we will ensure that electricity, water, mobile communications and roads are more resilient in the next crisis. Tomorrow there will already be a government meeting where concrete actions will be decided. The state's capacity is best seen not in everyday presentations, but at the moment when people truly need help.

This year, political parties and their associations have been allocated 6.7 million EUR from the money of all Latvian 🇱🇻 taxpayers, and 5.9 million EUR have actually been paid out 💶 (source: KNAB). #MēsMaināmNoteikumus does not use either budget financing or administrative resources for its activities. https://t.co/I1sOhaHGVV

@BSmildzina The countries you mention were not occupied and looted for 50 years. Our compatriots, after joining the EU, went as cheap labour to Ireland and elsewhere.

@CerinsAivis Aivis, wake up. In civilized countries - America, Germany... every person's work is respected and well paid. Such a concept as low-skilled does not exist! In Latvia, the chekists invented it to pay people small salaries. In civilization, even a person who cleans toilets is respected and gets a good salary.

@aiga_balode @IvarsAuzins @Broks It wasn't really like that. Public media's exit from the advertising market was a matter-of-course thing.

@CerinsAivis @IvarsAuzins @Broks It wasn't about advertising money — it was that private LNT and TV3 at the time both were interested in having LTV leave the advertising market. That's all. OK, but today other topics are relevant, we'll leave this for another time.

THE PROGRESSIVES ARE REGRESSIVES The defenders of 'European values' are making rhetorical pirouettes! Apparently the 'Progressives' do not recognize Latvia's occupation, but try in every way to wriggle out of it, renaming it 'non-voluntary accession' (???). They are the most poisonous pests of Latvia. Everything that is harmful to independence and contemptuous of self-confidence comes from the ranks of this slime – both immigrant quotas, and plans for mosques, the 'zero option' of citizenship, modal filters, high taxes, the theft of Riga's historic cobblestones, drones purchased without explosives, and 'peaceful drones'. I don't understand how these can be considered a coalition party in any combination. They are of the same ilk as Rosļikovs and Brēmanis. By the way, the same Ņenaševa was the head of the 'Harmony Centre' youth organization and assistant to Aleksejs Holostovs. Both started building an eco-village in Pierīga. Two in honor of the Russian president and prime minister – 'Putinka' and 'Medvejevka', but the State Language Centre refused to register these names. The 'Progressives' are a Trojan horse in Latvian politics, who have bought their loyalty at the expense of defending 'human rights', advocating same-sex marriage and minority rights, because that is supposedly rooted in Europeanism. In fact, left-wing liberalism has nothing to do with it, and such slogans allow them to fight for the legalization of the consequences of occupation, while undermining the nation's moral compass. In my opinion, it is unworthy to build one's campaign on the corruption of young people, convincing them that they were born in the wrong body, that women are enslaved by men, that the family is evil, etc., firstly creating a generation that will not be able to enjoy all the joys of life, and secondly attaching a 'victim' role to themselves to capitalize on election day. These spontaneous reflections could be continued with the theses of KGB officer Jurijs Bezmenovs that such 'progressives' were a Cheka project in all Western countries, which demoralizes people and makes them easily vulnerable to foreign influence. But even without such theories one can manage, because even at the everyday level we see what happens to sectors led by the 'Progressives' – a pile in the Daugava, airBaltic in the trash, no drones, but Pride has almost become national cultural heritage. Remember the Minister of Culture Agnese Lāce. Lāce was a board member of the criminal organization 'Gribu palīdzēt bēgļiem' at a time when this society helped five Syrian illegal immigrants cross the Latvia-Belarus border. She did not admit to being Latvian, not indicating her ethnicity in the candidate questionnaire. To be fair, none of the 'progressives' have indicated it. Why? Maybe they don't know? That can't be, because it's written in the passport. Maybe ashamed? But maybe they simply do not consider national affiliation an important part of a person's identity? That's why they also talked about forgetting deportations. There are many such oddities. Sprūds also said in interviews that Crimea belongs to Russia and Latvia doesn't need OMD. Please don't vote for these. This is not any kind of Latvian force, but a suicide vest on the shoulders of a tired citizen.

I wonder if he is aware that “Deutschland Erwache” (Germany Awaken) was a Nazi slogan now banned in Germany. If this is simple ignorance it’s pathetic. If it’s deliberate flirtation with Nazism it says a lot about Kirill and Putin https://t.co/JNamaSGRKK

The people of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia stood united against communist oppression on this day in 1989. The Baltic Way, a human chain of 2 million against Moscow's tyrannical rule, was a shining reminder that no evil can dim the light of liberty so long as we have courage. https://t.co/lgqpRQqzib
