About some changes in the State Police. I have received an explanation from the head of the South Kurzeme precinct indicating that it has not been regular practice to proactively test police officers with alcohol tests. Some things I have discussed with the State Police leadership: 1) An official investigation has been initiated against the management of the South Kurzeme precinct, which may result in changes in the precinct's leadership. 2) In the State Police, upon starting a work day, alcohol tests will be required, especially for officials who carry a weapon or drive service vehicles during duty. 3) Managers need to pay attention to subordinates. It will be necessary to refer individuals who might have problems with excessive alcohol consumption to in-depth checks, to timely prevent risks to the service and the person themselves. Honest police officers do excellent work every day ensuring public safety. Changes must be implemented so that a single drop of tar does not spoil the overall prestige of the police.
@Kjiips That's one way of saying that @partijaMMN's programme hasn't been read. The state doesn't have to make money. The state has to let people and businesses make money.
The main idea in ALL party programmes is to redistribute money. Practically nowhere is there how to earn. Most sharply it is in PROG - take away and redistribute. Bolshevik philosophy, in others it is called social-democratic leanings. We want everyone to be equal, even poor. Wealth can supposedly be obtained only by stealing.
Thanks to government colleagues and Prime Minister @AndrisKulbergs for today's support for the decision on hospital network reorganization. These are long-awaited changes that are important for our people in Latvia! 👉🏻 https://t.co/lezFxkwQa6https://t.co/yjQJosZowd
Sintija Siliņa about media manipulation. Our ancestors did not fight for the state so that modern media would use them as a political weapon. If civil society no longer received such large funds and stopped operating, would it even in essence have been civil and public? https://t.co/Rd287UBHkf
Jelgava Hospital's Children's Department will be preserved! This is a significant gain for children and families in Zemgale. Today the government also adopted a decision on strengthening Latvia's regional hospitals, providing compensation for the impact of reforms, allocating additional investments of 14 million euros. https://t.co/g2GWl6kaER
Latvia's economic growth – about this, Armands Puče, ahead of the 15th Saeima elections, will question politicians – economics (@EM_gov_lv) minister @ViktorsValainis (ZZS), economist, chairman of “Latvijas attīstībai” Juris Pūce (@pucej), 14th Saeima deputy (PRO), economist, former transport minister Kaspars Briškens (@Briskens) and economist Jānis Hermanis, who will run in the 15th Saeima elections from “Mēs mainām noteikumus”. 👉🏻 Pre-election debates “Runāsim atklāti!” tonight live at 21:03! #tv24_lv#advertisement
Today we made a decision on a 14 million euro compensation to prevent the availability and funding of health care services from being reduced in the regions. This will ensure that in the future, residents of the regions will not have reduced availability of health care services. https://t.co/X6936PcSzA
🏥 DONE: The government has approved the hospital network reform put forward by the Ministry of Health. The reform, developed by the Ministry of Health under the leadership of Health Minister @H_AbuMeri, envisages transitioning to three hospital levels by 2029, concentrating the most complex services in hospitals with adequate capacity, while maintaining access to basic services closer to where people live. 💚 The goal – higher quality, more accessible, and sustainable healthcare across Latvia.
Leafing through Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises's “Bureaucracy”, I half-jokingly came across a simple yet interesting message that perfectly complements the party “WE CHANGE THE RULES” program point on reducing the bureaucratic apparatus by half. Namely: “The bureaucrat is not just a civil servant. Under democratic conditions, he is also a voter. As a representative of the state, he is in a special situation: he is both employer and employee. His financial interests as an employee are greater than his interests as an employer, because he receives much more from state funds than he gives back. The dual obligations become more significant as the payrolls of civil servants increase. The bureaucrat as a voter more ardently wants a salary increase rather than balancing the budget. His main goal is to increase his salary.” Currently, entry into the bureaucratic apparatus is determined by an individual's consent to the ruling political force, i.e., the feeder of the apparatus. It is a huge mass of voters whose choice on the ballot stems from the financial favor of parties, which is why Latvian politicians atypically speak about reducing the parasitic nest of taxpayers. In the long term, this undermines democracy, because a Saeima member does not feel responsibility before an ordinary voter, becoming a representative of those people who receive money from the state treasury. Because he himself gives this money. The larger the bureaucracy, the smaller the democracy. In the picture Ludwig von Mises (1881-1973)
@Lato_Lapsa It is about the fact that a person and a company cannot freely manage their funds, cannot go to a bank, cannot freely communicate with a bank. A person has limited opportunities to convert the fruits of their labor into liquid currency. What are you talking about?
And hostages of food traders… and hostages of fuel traders… and hostages of airlines…🤡 Until now I had thought that only Hermanis in that strange company needs to have his social network passwords taken away, before he has scared off the remaining supporters. But now a cousin of Shuvayev, overcome with red craziness, is coming forward.
✈️ A strong national airline means better connectivity with Europe, greater opportunities for businesses, and a significant contribution to Latvia's economy. https://t.co/yJTIdkBSbx
Today the government supported reducing the administrative burden for fishermen by simplifying fishing control. The changes were also developed based on proposals from local fishermen!
Evika, glad you recognize it. Of course, it is a Patria armored personnel carrier at the Patria plant, where ASCOD infantry fighting vehicles are also assembled.
Or, quoting your tweet: “Here you can practically see Latvia and Spain's cooperation in the defense industry – Spain's ASCOD infantry fighting vehicles are being assembled in Latvia.”
The first point of my individual freedom programme is to end the state in which people and businesses are hostages of banks. It doesn't matter at all where those rules come from. We will cancel them.
I understand that it will be difficult for E. Siliņa to cope with her bitterness. But JV must choose at this time - to continue quarreling with other democratic parties in order to pave the way for a Šlesers government. Or rather look critically in the mirror at yourself and come up with something constructive before the elections.
First about irony - E. Siliņa supplements her usual sour criticism directed at me with a photo of the assembly of ASCOD combat vehicles in Latvia. The project has secured funding and a contract was signed during my tenure.
This politician is typical - to appropriate the achievements of others, but in case of problems to look for scapegoats, point fingers, so that she herself would not have to take responsibility. She can't do otherwise.
Now lies are being spread about the lack of action in strengthening Latvia's airspace defense capabilities. So some facts about the decisions and actions that the defense sector and its political leadership implemented to strengthen our airspace in recent years. I can take responsibility for each of these decisions.
➡️ After the serious drone incident in September 2024, as the head of the sector, it was completely clear to me - the ability to respond to drone incursions must immediately become a priority for the defense sector. Action was an obvious prerequisite for the public to trust the Latvian army and perceive the investment in defense as justified.
➡️ Air defense units were deployed on the eastern border. Additional contracts were signed, radars were received and deployed.
➡️ Learning from Ukraine, Latvia became the first NATO member state to cover the entire eastern border with acoustic detection sensors.
➡️ On my initiative as minister, we signed an agreement with our companies on the development and delivery of interceptor drones, guided missiles, machine gun integrators and electronic warfare systems. On my instruction, the interceptor drones had to be deployed on the border already in April.
➡️ Together with my Baltic colleagues, we ensured that NATO fighters would be ready to take off to identify and shoot down drones.
E. Siliņa cannot be trusted on defense matters - even her own party is aware of this. This politician wanted to become the new defense minister, but was refused - not by the new government leader, but by her own party, which decided to nominate another candidate. That says it all.

🚧 Roadworks will continue without additional burden on the state budget. The Ministry of Transport has found a solution to compensate for the sharp rise in bitumen prices in state road construction and ensure that planned road projects are completed on time and with quality. 💶 Importantly, this solution does not require additional funding from the state budget. Compensations will be covered from funds created as savings in state road construction procurements. Minister of Transport Rihards Kozlovskis emphasizes: road builders and the state share a common goal – to ensure that all planned roadworks this year are carried out with quality and within set deadlines. 🇱🇻 Responsible management means finding solutions, not demanding ever more funds from taxpayers.
