16850From@dacemelbarde@suvajevs not understanding why Saeima today rejected a full import ban on goods from Russia. I explain - Saeima today supported a ban on industrial goods, because the ban on agricultural goods is already set in another law. Two laws together form a full goods ban!

Strong rule of law is the foundation of Latvia's security, democracy and growth! ⚖️🇱🇻 The European Commission's positive assessment is a significant acknowledgment of the professional work of the judiciary, law enforcement institutions and the entire justice sector. We are currently working with the judiciary on amendments to the law that: 1️⃣ will further strengthen judicial independence in matters of judges' careers and budget 2️⃣ will introduce a court lawyer institute, which will provide support to judges so that cases are processed significantly faster https://t.co/gzWYdbSfWC
@AndrisKulbergs @Progresivie The responsible ministry imposes the IP, not 'we'.
From@AndrisKulbergs@suvajevs @Progresivie You imposed the IP, I cannot break the law. Ask Švinka, he signed.

@MGruskevics @AndrisKulbergs @Progresivie If you have familiarized yourself with these documents, then I hope you understand the content - the government's mandate for the minister to agree on a price has not been provided.
From@MGruskevics@suvajevs @AndrisKulbergs @Progresivie IP letters 'do not allow' to show… Laws and Cabinet regulations must be followed‼️😉👌🏻

Everyone who knows Russian is a Kremlinist! ABSURD!!! https://t.co/C06wFN7KPp
From@andrissprudsTrade with the aggressor state Russia and its satellite Belarus must be stopped immediately. The government declaration includes such a commitment. Unfortunately, the amendments approved today only partially restrict the import of goods. A step in the right direction, but incomplete. The restrictions apply to only 6.5% of the import volume. We submitted a proposal to completely stop the import of goods from aggressor states, as it most directly finances the aggression in Ukraine. Unfortunately, today the Saeima majority lacked the political will to jointly implement what is in the security interests of Latvia and Ukraine.

This is a serious step back in 'fast credit' policy. @Progresivie was practically the only one who strongly opposed the liberalization of advertising. Now we will again increasingly see advertisements with calls to borrow. https://t.co/OlEvRvI7Vf
@AndrisKulbergs @Progresivie I urge you to show the full document to the public, rather than creating a misleading impression about the government's mandate for the economy minister to agree on a price. Your attached picture does not confirm anything of the sort.
From@AndrisKulbergsThen, when suddenly @Progresivie develops amnesia. You yourselves have swept it under the rug and now you're playing the fool... I'm tired of watching this, I've already seen it in the RailBaltica investigation commission, where your presence was widely represented. I will not allow that anymore. In general, you in the PRO government exactly on July 15, 2025 gave the Minister of Economics such a mandate... you gave Mr. Valainis such a task. Ask your ministers and don't pretend to be ignorant now. 🤔

@wannax_j The question is not about bringing the guilty to criminal responsibility. The prosecutor's office's proposal is to repeal the decision on support and price discounts for the wood industry. The question is whether the Kulbergs government considers this decision lawful.
From@wannax_j@AndrejsJudins In Latvia, does the prosecutor's office administer justice?

My priority as head of government was to ensure that support for families becomes genuinely greater. This is the work done by my government, which has taken effect already from 2026. 👶 Childbirth benefit increased from €421.17 to €600. 👨👩👧 Childcare benefit for a child up to one and a half years increased from €171 to €298 per month – that is €127 more every month. For example: if a family receives the childcare benefit for all 18 months, together with the childbirth benefit support reaches €5,964. Previously it was €3,499.17. So a family receives €2,464.83 more in total. Going forward, the childcare benefit amount will be reviewed every two years. From the increased benefit, larger social insurance contributions are also made for parents' pension, unemployment, and disability. Families are Latvia's future. State support must be tangible exactly when a child arrives in a family and expenses significantly increase. @Jauna_Vienotiba

From@Kuskis@AndrejsJudins No, the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Latvia is not a judicial authority. According to the Constitution and the Law on the Prosecutor's Office, it is an institution under the supervision of the judicial authority, which independently conducts criminal prosecution and performs other functions. It institutionally belongs to the justice system, but does not perform the basic function of judicial power.

@toms_salmins The question is about the decision that was made. If the decision is illegal, it must be repealed. I am not so optimistic about the possibility of recovering the funds... The problem is that the current government protects these decisions, even though it knows what was not known at the time the decisions were made.
From@toms_salmins@AndrejsJudins Will you give him instructions on what should legally and lawfully be done now? I greatly respect your knowledge of the law, but at the moment at least it seems to me that you want the company to be forced to repay money based on the prosecutor's decision. How does that square with the rule of law?

‼️ We cannot support Ukraine with one hand while continuing to buy goods from aggressor countries with the other. As long as Russia continues the war, Latvia must be consistent and completely stop imports from Russia and Belarus.
From@ProgresivieInstead, the Saeima only banned the import of certain industrial goods, but the exact list of prohibited goods will still be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers. This is a step in the right direction, but it is not enough.

From@ProgresivieSprūds' proposal also envisaged banning goods of Russian and Belarusian origin that reach Latvia through other countries. That would be a clear and principled step to strengthen Latvia's security, protect public interests, and provide consistent support to 🇺🇦 Ukraine.

From@ProgresivieWith one hand support Ukraine, with the other continue trading with aggressor states? 🤨 🚨 The Saeima today rejected @AndrisSpruds proposal to completely ban the import of all goods from Russia and Belarus. Only 19 deputies voted in favor, 18 were against, and 30 abstained. https://t.co/ueCF3m6WtE
