The forestry sector must be viewed as a unified value chain – from quality, biologically diverse forest regeneration to sustainable management and high value-added products. We must preserve and increase the forest capital.

No surprises - since the moment Kulbergs entrusted ZZS to lead the Ministry of Agriculture, it was clear that the cover-up of the scandal would continue. As recently as February, the Prime Minister clearly called this scandal corruption. https://t.co/XMEWwNSh6U

🌐 The Cabinet of Ministers has supported draft laws prepared by @Tieslietas that will introduce the EU e-evidence regulation. It will allow to significantly speed up the obtaining of electronic evidence in cross-border criminal proceedings – up to 10 days, and in urgent cases up to 6 hours. Today progress on the shelter issue. The Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with VARAM and the Ministry of Economics, have reviewed procedures and prepared information regarding the adaptation of shelters. It turns out institutions greatly exaggerated with construction requirements. Instead of simply replacing outdated lighting and installing new doors, institutions ordered expensive construction projects, project supervision, etc. Now instructions will be available for municipalities and state institutions. We have also moved forward to be able to build industrially produced standard shelters without problems, which could be placed underground or above ground. This would be especially significant to create near schools and kindergartens where there is no historical shelter. Image: https://t.co/0YohXtctR9. The image is illustrative.

Today in the government we adopted the amendments prepared by @Zemkopibas_min to the procedure for granting emergency support, providing additional state support of four million euros to partially reduce the losses caused by adverse weather conditions in 2025 for farmers in the fruit growing, vegetable growing and seed growing sectors.

Without @VKontrole it is pointless to look at the issue, so tomorrow the meeting of the Public Expenditure and Audit Committee announced on 14 July will not take place regarding the funding awarded by the Latvian Council of Science for projects of the Fundamental and Applied Research Programme (2021–2025), because VK cannot participate.

There are people who express concerns that the usefulness of applied research will be assessed. It is pointed out that academic freedom must not be infringed. I want to point to something else - we have a valid law on the prevention of squandering of public funds and property.

The government approves amendments developed by @EM_gov_lv: from now on, visual inspections of residential buildings will only need to be done once a year! This reduces the administrative burden, diminishes unnecessary bureaucracy and, more importantly - allows more funds to be directed to building repairs.

🚆 Rail Baltica is Latvia's most strategically important infrastructure project. It requires professional and stable management. Minister of Transport Rihards Kozlovskis proposes strengthening the governance of the project implementer 'European Railway Lines', bringing experienced professionals to the board in infrastructure project management, financial management, corporate governance, and legal matters. Since 2014, the leadership of the project implementer has changed 11 times. Such instability is unacceptable for such an important national project. Rail Baltica must be implemented professionally, transparently, and in the national interest. It is time to ensure exactly that kind of management.

Understandable and logical continuation of what was found in the @VKontrole audit: https://t.co/Xmo0QwLyXt https://t.co/zkkvK5oycy

An audit cannot find a person guilty, but it can reveal facts indicating a possible criminal offense. Such information must be assessed by investigative bodies and the prosecutor's office when deciding whether to initiate criminal proceedings. @prokuratura_LV @KNABinforme @Valsts_policija https://t.co/9p9oond6SS

@msmits2864 Do you think the state/ can finance NGO projects? When delegating the performance of state/municipal functions to NGOs, should payment be made for the work done? Is it permissible to use budget funds to support culture and sports, since they can also be financed from donations and ticket sales?

@AndrejsJudins NGOs should not receive taxpayer money from the state budget. Let NGOs attract public donations for their activities; if the public does not donate to an NGO, then that NGO's proposed idea is not in the public interest, and sponsoring empty NGO ideas is not a state task.
