About municipal arbitrariness in territorial planning, nuclear reactors, and how much should be cut from next year's budget. An interesting conversation with Edgars Tavars. Thanks for the conversation @Edgars_T https://t.co/TdhexwgCwv
Budget: Posts and News mentioning Apvienotais saraksts
Political posts and news in Budget that mention Apvienotais saraksts, from monitored Latvian public sources.
From@POLITICOEuropeEXCLUSIVE: Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs wants Brussels to hand over €7 billion to help cover the military and economic costs of confronting Russia, as pressure grows over the price of the country’s hard line on Moscow. https://t.co/SAm357iA7J

From@Chadwick198425Today bondholders supported interest capitalization. But the main thing is the business plan that is now being pushed to the Saeima: The state plans to convert €50 million in bonds into capital = effectively write them off to zero. Private creditors who have already received over €110 million in interest receive up to €125 million of debt back. The state quietly “gifts” €50 million to private creditors through the back door, while the taxpayer loses everything. Official announcement: https://t.co/KMIrElohPm @AndrisKulbergs @LapinsGirts @SlesersAinars @IvoButkevics

From@MartinsLauvaAs a large taxpayer, it is important to me that these lombard bond interest rates are not paid from taxpayers' money. Those who were ready to take risks and invest in such junk securities must also take responsibility. Until @AndrisKulbergs started addressing this issue, the situation was absurd: AB bonds had lombard rates, but guarantees like state-issued bonds. Those who took the risk must answer for it, not me with my tax payments.

From@katrinailjinskaThese are truly IMPRESSIVE data. Can you imagine that the state spends LESS on IT procurement per year than on NGOs!?!?! It is known that 202 million were gifted to NGOs in grants last year + there is also various “economic activity” and “other income”. In other words, does the state spend less on IT sector procurement than it gives away or buys without tenders from NGOs? @AndrisKulbergs

So - obvious and clear - @AndrisKulbergs, @EdvardsSmiltens @Apvienotais_ essentially the current government core have broken the law, lied, squandered state funds for private needs, @KNABinforme once again demonstrated clinical fear of the ruling elite and, frightened, pretended nothing happened. But here some think that nothing really happened and the blame should be shifted to journalists who dared to ask Kulberg's excellency questions that his highness found uncomfortable. And how are we different from Putlerland, where journalists must be put in their place for wrong questions?
From@Madara_OzolaVery weak @ltvdefacto piece about @Apvienotais_ and @AndrisKulbergs violations when meeting with residents in Liepāja. Nothing sensational. Not even any investigative journalism - no amounts wasted or hourly rates calculated that were spent inappropriately. You can do better.

From@2_teikumiI will try to 'figure out' based on this one example 🤓, why @AndrisKulbergs's desire for complete NGO funding data will most likely remain just a wish. The beginning of it all is the €8,434.06 that was funneled into the website of the political agitation foundation Re:Baltica through a supposedly 'competition' that is not publicly available anywhere, which you will search for in vain in State Treasury payments. Do not misunderstand - the State Treasury data is good, but it also has its limitations.

Published Saeima salary top: significant differences among deputies
@andrislov It comes up once a month and I answer once a month too😁 https://t.co/PmGmoW1jJ7
From@andrislovGuntars Vītols is an adviser to the Minister of Finance and a board member of “Latvia's Restart”, a person who sits close to the tap of state money, talks about the state having to get off entrepreneurs' backs, and sometimes even says something sensible about the budget deficit, but as soon as the public responds not with applause but with criticism, it immediately begins—social media are toxic, only fools and cretins are there, and “leave or formally stay”. That is the typical reflex of the political elite, namely, I am smart enough to distribute taxpayers' money, but the rest are too stupid to say anything to my face. Free market and freedom of speech obviously end where his personal comfort ends. The aristocracy of the political caste, or the arrogance of an expert who forgets that his salary comes from those same “cretins”. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. A person who cannot withstand public criticism is not suitable for either an adviser's or a politician's post; he is suitable for a quiet office where everyone nods.

From@ltvdefacto#defacto returns to @LatvijasTV air – on Sundays, right after Panorāma. This week on the show: Business trip or campaign trip? KNAB checks the visit of a minister from the prime minister's party to Kurzeme. How far is Kulbergs' government ready to go to save the airline 'airBaltic'? https://t.co/2oW9Dv4qEY

From@IvoButkevicsUgh, what bravado! Hope it doesn't turn out to be another piece of 'crap' or 'complete manure'. Those are real obligations arising from real nominal values. The market's assessment of the chances to recover them may vary. On the state side, an uncollected five-euro is equal in sign to a spent five-euro. The government has given the green light to all these matters, arising from the Ministry of Transport, but will implement them sequentially and with additional decisions. That doesn't change the fact that the government has decided on the specific support package, including potentially another 30 million. Language can be a tricky thing; I'll consider organizing some courses for those interested. :)

@ivchix Sorry, but I'm interested in how @AndrisKulbergs @EdvardsSmiltens and others' explanations about private campaigning events during working hours ended? Has it been confirmed that it was legally correctly formatted and no budget funds and administrative resources were used?
From@ivchixA telling excerpt from the prime minister's interview: 'The voter pays for very expensive ministers' and the prime minister's time, so that we do not waste it on anything.' https://t.co/gwAGusMGG4

From@Heinrih5But why would Kulbergs propose increasing the state debt, when we have such an Edmunds Jurēvics in Vienotība, who wants to take it on “his own shoulders”? Švinka and Briškens would surely chip in? https://t.co/yI1lOV5End

I cannot agree with you. I have been on his team relatively recently and I see that currently, when touching any issue where one has to think about reviewing financial spending, it is turned into a scandal in the public space. So how can one change anything without changes?😅
From@DievaSuns@CerinsAivis I am not one of those who expect a 'bowl of porridge' from the government and reforms for the sake of reforms. I expect a vision, a plan, implementation. Kulbergs only looks for scandals, Riga Heat, RailBaltic, NGOs, drones. Yes, there are big problems, but where are there not? Where are the solutions?

@Broks Almost no political force thinks about the economy and earning money, except us. 100% of them think about dividing up the money.
From@BroksIn party programs we very specifically write – 5% of GDP for defense. Correct, it cannot be otherwise. However! Reading the programs, it is much harder to find the other figure – how big a Latvian economy we want to achieve? Because 5% is only a mathematical formula. 5% of 40 billion is 2 billion. 5% of 50 billion is already 2.5 billion. What will Latvia's GDP be in four years? What growth do we want to achieve? And which three or five decisions will lead us there? Perhaps before dividing up percentages of GDP, we should talk much more seriously about how we will increase GDP itself and what goals we set.

From@RKruminThis year, of the 2.5G€ base budget deficit, the social budget covers 0.5G€, which would be enough to add on average €100 per month to pensions! However, @AndrisKulbergs' government, contrary to promises, does not reduce spending, but indexes pensions for next year by only €30-40! https://t.co/VDpLk5u4m1

From@AndrisKulbergsI do not deny the importance of such a question, I fully respect such a desire, because the public needs to know. I just feel strange that in the program no questions are asked at all about the priorities of the whole society: No.1 HEALTH, No.2 COST OF LIVING, No.3 ECONOMY, No.4 SECURITY, No.5 EDUCATION, and above all about the budget, deficit, and aligning revenues with expenditures. The first and only question was asked about the Istanbul Convention. Thank you for inviting me as the first, and good luck with the next prime minister candidates.
