From@ltvzinasThe Saeima on Thursday decided to expand Latvia's national import ban on products of Russian and Belarusian origin, adopting in the final reading in an urgent procedure amendments to the Agriculture and Rural Development Law. https://t.co/82wt9aX0EH

@tikums Politicians must be able to cope with many challenges at the same time. Pointing to one threat is not diverting attention from another threat.
From@tikums@RaivisZeltits I do not deny the threat of Islamism, I just note that in discussions about the new migration wave the focus often disappears from the already existing threats from Russians. Russian Orthodox churches, which still carry out instructions from Moscow, are already scattered all over Latvia.

@Lazdans Maybe Lithuanians? At one time they were driving those tractors out of Latvia at night.
From@Lazdans@CerinsAivis How did someone smuggle that tractor into his yard? Corrupt people must be exposed as soon as possible.

From@AivarsMarkots@EdmundsJurevics idiot, don't you currently have any other problems to solve than regulating international political tourism? :) Patmalnieks's signature is understandable. He is no better than you, the same mudak. @aseradens' obedience to the populist hopeless pre-election panic is saddening...

From@meInsuzbaIta@Lato_Lapsa Braže, who herself could long ago have expelled Ragozin in the best and safest way (not appealable), is shooting three hares: Lyonya is pleased, shouting about NA as if it had done nothing, and, when NA does it, it will lose (it can be appealed), then she will produce yet another “Spanish letter”, or “incompetence”. https://t.co/TwQwxaIHbA

A person who has left their home because of war needs to know what kind of future they can build for themselves and their children. 🇱🇻🇺🇦 Many Ukrainian people have already been living in Latvia for more than four years. They work, pay taxes, their children study in our schools and have found friends here. Behind the words “temporary protection” are families who need clarity about their future life. That is why we have submitted amendments that, after five years of continuous residence in Latvia, would allow applying for a permanent residence permit, subject to certain requirements — including knowledge of the Latvian language and learning about Latvia’s culture and history. At the same time, we respect Ukraine’s defence needs. The Saeima has referred the draft law to a committee for consideration. Our goal is to have it adopted within this term.

I answered the question about the Orthodox Church separately. But if you think Islamism is a theoretical future threat, I urge you to return to Riga sooner rather than claiming everything is fine. There are already several Muslim prayer centers here. Under the current procedure for issuing temporary and permanent residence permits, a mosque is a question of the very near future.
From@tikumsA very well-founded question from the show's host — why act against a theoretical future threat, when Russian Orthodox churches, as Ukraine's experience shows, are often extremist centers where saboteurs find refuge? https://t.co/kk7sF9l4Nn

@pineconehiller I do not think the media are corrupt in Latvia. At least I have not seen/felt it over a dozen or so years. That a media outlet has to earn money through clicks, however, is true. If someone brings you news that is guaranteed to appeal to the public, you can guess the choice. And news is most often brought not only by competitors from other parties.
From@pineconehiller@CerinsAivis If a media person says that… then what is happening in our media…? Probably accidental commissions…🧐

The Four Noble Truths of Buddhism teach that suffering has a cause and that to end suffering, this cause must be ended. Today this idea is often illustrated by a quote attributed to Albert Einstein: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” This teaching is more than 2000 years old. For centuries it has run through sacred scriptures, philosophical thought, and modern pop culture. It has helped people free themselves from addictions by teaching that old behaviour will lead to old results, and has helped understand human psychology by studying how repeated behaviour produces the same results. Politics is no exception! We cannot hope for a better result by voting for the same parties that are responsible for the current situation. During the active campaign, meeting with the people of Latvia, I sometimes felt like a young person in a job interview who is not hired because he lacks work experience, but cannot gain work experience because no one hires him. Very many people want to see new politicians, and when Austošā Saule Latvijai offers a list with many new politicians, someone always commented: “But you have no political experience.” Well, a new politician with previous political experience is impossible. I am ready to take full responsibility for the political activities of each ASL candidate in Kurzeme. I myself have approached all these candidates and recommended the ASL council to approve them as candidates for the 15th Saeima elections. Moreover, as head of the membership admission commission, I have recommended that the party admit most of all ASL candidates. Therefore, a certain part of the responsibility for the future political activity of every ASL candidate also rests on me. LOOK! You have a team of new politicians to vote for and the RIGHT to demand a different result! Uncomfortable for the powers that be - needed for Latvia Austošā Saule Latvijai

From@TsahknaLanguage brings our people closer, and so does singing, as @Braze_Baiba and I showed at the start of today’s award ceremony in Riga. Together, we presented the Estonian and Latvian Language Promotion Award for the 17th time, honouring those who strengthen our ties through language teaching, translation and cultural exchange. Congratulations to Katarina Magere, an Estonian language and cultural history teacher at Riga Estonian Basic School. Her dedication and creativity help children from different linguistic backgrounds discover Estonian language and culture and speak Estonian with confidence.

From@gii7382203@AnsisPupols @kaskigais_onka @Apvienotais_ @AndrisKulbergs I will not vote for Kulbergs only because I have not heard that he strongly opposes migration. I will vote for those for whom this is listed as a priority in their program. I believe this is the most important thing for Latvia right now. We will sort out everything else; the main thing is not to die out ourselves.

From@AnsisPupols❗️❗️❗️Both @Apvienotais_ and @AndrisKulbergs should clearly state which side of the lake shore they are on - together with employer organizations demanding that cheap labor from Uzbekistan be allowed in and Turība University, which profits from training Pakistanis, or with 🇱🇻 the Latvian people, who demand an end to immigration! You cannot sit in the middle of the lake and hope the shores will connect by themselves. #ImigrantiemNē

@RSpunde95638 @LLatviesiem @eliina_balode @VL_TBLNNK Latvia for Latvians from the very beginning opposed immigration and does not tolerate those who slow down these decisions.
From@RSpunde95638@LLatviesiem @eliina_balode @StankevicsA And how do you know that those are Šķēle's interests? @VL_TBLNNK For 10 years the immigration issue did not worry anyone, because Russians were coming, now for some reason it worries? What is the reason? Elections?
