@Chapis From which countries are those 80,000 who do not contribute to the economy (do not work), do not pay for studies/rent? Could it be that Dombrava was rather talking about Russian-citizen pensioners?
DeFakto, nice job exposing it. You found one!! investor who has been punished, served the sentence, and has invested money in Latvia. Now you can safely go after those n-thousands (around 80k) who stay here without investing money and, among other things, receive state benefits (see image). Oh, right — you will never do that, because they have nothing to do with Waterfront… “eto drugoe”…🙈
It is just beyond me how they can manipulate people and public opinion so that all the focus is on residence permits for investments (the so-called golden visas), where in ’25 there were 50 new deals and 90 extensions, but they completely keep quiet and ignore what is currently happening on the streets… I can’t explain it..🤷♂️
@Chapis An uninformed person might think that a money launderer creates exactly 0 risk and losses whatsoever, while a migrant with a forged driver’s licence endangers people’s lives and health every day, disrupts traffic, and cripples the labor market.
The sister's Latvian nail technician in the UK will vote for SV.
She is said to be against support for Ukraine.
It doesn't matter that she lives in the UK and pays no taxes in Latvia.
It doesn't matter that she consumes Russian channel content daily.

A year ago, the first thing that caught the eye was - who came up with putting distribution cabinets so close to the border? Well, then it is no wonder that causing damage is so simple - you don't even have to cross the border. https://t.co/6Ab0rLaplMhttps://t.co/7vDpdJdKBihttps://t.co/55wvOu3Jv2
Next Saturday, 3 October, we will elect the 15th Saeima.
I also urge those who are disappointed in politics, doubt their choice, or have not found a party they can agree with on absolutely all issues to vote.
There will most likely be no ideal candidate or ideal party. But elections are not a search for a flawless choice. They are an opportunity to choose Latvia's direction of development and the people we will trust to make decisions on our behalf for the next four years.
Before voting, take time to compare party programmes, candidates' experience, what has been done so far, and whether promises also have an implementation plan and funding.
Not participating in elections is not a punishment for politicians. It simply leaves the choice in someone else's hands.
Every vote is equally important, regardless of a person's age, income, or place of residence.
So on 3 October, let us go and vote. And invite at least one more person to vote who might otherwise stay home.
Democracy does not work by itself. It works when we take part in it.
@KaijaSkujina@Fertelis Currently, each ruling party tries to offer its program as the best, but in reality they cannot offer anything new. With ASL representation in the Saeima and partners' understanding that ASL's offer is the best for Latvia.
President Zelensky is right, Russia is a terrorist state. Desperate at its war failure in Ukraine, Russia attacks civilians and civilian targets every day. #RussiaIsATerroristState
Today alone, and in Kyiv alone, Russian jet-powered drones “vanquished” two kindergartens and two schools, an ordinary residential building, an auto repair shop, several warehouses, and communications facilities. Anywhere in the world, this choice of targets would be called by one word – terrorism. Russia has no military objective whatsoever in doing this – it is purely an attempt to break people and inflict as much harm as possible on our society. Tragically, there are people killed… My condolences to their families and loved ones. Dozens of people were injured. Overall, since yesterday, the Russians have used 277 attack drones of various types, 155 of them jet-powered. Among the damaged sites is also a building used as the residence of the Saudi Arabian Ambassador. In the Dnipro region, a sports school is among the damaged facilities. In the Sumy region, the building of a regional children’s home was damaged. If Russia were truly preparing for any real steps toward de-escalation – as it claims, particularly to American negotiators – this wave of “shahed” terror would not be happening. And we need to take a sober view of the situation. Russia knows how to send the kind of encouraging diplomatic signals that the world simply wants to hear… It knows how to send such signals in order to delay tough steps by the world in response to the war. In America, the important Lindsey Graham sanctions and tariffs law has already reached the implementation stage. It is a law that can change a lot for the better if fully implemented. This law needs to be implemented – and everyone in the world can see that there is EVERY REASON to apply it and A CLEAR PURPOSE for doing so. We are counting on effective decisions from the world and stronger pressure from our partners, so that Russia sees that manipulating diplomatic signals will not allow it to keep winning more and more time for war and terror. It is important that our other partners in the G7 and G20 also take a principled stance. New sanctions packages are being prepared – specifically targeting financial networks, supply chains for components and equipment used in the production of Russian weapons, and specific companies and individuals primarily involved in the production of Russian ballistic missiles. The new sanctions must take effect as early as October to provide a stronger foundation for changing the situation and pushing Russia toward real diplomacy. Thank you to everyone who helps Ukraine! Thank you to everyone working 24/7 to provide greater protection for Ukrainians and our state!
I have invited Andris Kulbergs and @Apvienotais_ tomorrow for talks with @Jauna_Vienotiba. Issues important to society, such as reducing the fuel price by 20 cents, remain unresolved, while constitutional amendments proposed by the opposition are being supported. We expect responsible action from the Prime Minister.
