From@Krisjanis_KUntil now I thought that “willow Latvians” had died out a hundred years ago. But no. Here is at least one specimen in the person of @inesevoika - when convenient, she is really a “proud Latvian”, but when she has to run on the list of the progressive red international - then nationality vanishes, and Voika becomes madam Voikā😈🤣 Just like the famous Mrs Burka became madam Burkā…🤡🤡🤡

16033From@liana_langaThe Constitutional Court has concluded that the Russian language in Latvia is self-sufficient, and therefore it is not a minority language. That is why the state will no longer finance Russian-language media and broadcasting in Latvia. That, however, does not stop #Olaine from holding a Russian booze-and-"folk songs" concert in the fifth year of Russia's genocidal war in Ukraine, to celebrate Russia's killture! @O_jauniesiem, what kind of opportunity is that with a view to the east, isn't it? Why are you allowing this?

@AndrisKivics @Wassermann2211 What this mother is doing is something beyond comprehension. The Istanbul Convention is not a silver bullet, but it does contain some kind of action plan with real measures that are being implemented. Better to have them than not. You can't fix anything with hatred.
From@AndrisKivics@Wassermann2211 @martinsstals I understood the point, but no convention has protected anything; the Russians paper over all conventions, and no one can do anything about it. SK is the fantasy of naive women. People are protected by the law, which can be made harsher, but SK's main thing is 'especially sensitive persons'.

From@Gaumigais_joks@Chapis If Pēteris (company) works in Ireland, then his mother in Latvia is taxed on Pēteris's income in Ireland. That already happens, but I don't think it's right! Tell me, how do you get budget money from GDP? I'm telling you, a large budget as a percentage of GDP is not any indicator of correctness.

From@liana_langaWhat do pro-Russian parties that advocate for Russification not understand? They deliberately do not separate public and private space and hide the fact that no one cares what language people speak in their families and in their private sphere. Language is the central axis of Latvia's state identity, so the public space must be Latvian — Latvian must be heard in it! In shops, medical institutions, institutions — everywhere! Language is our state border and the guarantee of Latvianness! #AtkrieviskoLatviju

Today I am going to a debate that is supposedly meant for young people. I have strong objections to highlighting youthfulness in politics. There are many arguments, but all young people are in a hurry, so I will give just one, very briefly. Young people, unlike seniors, will not be “young” forever. If we are talking about politics and not blindly pushing our own interests, the question must be: do today's young people care about those who will become young after them? If the answer is “yes”, then a rhetorical counter-question: why should today's young people have a say over tomorrow's young people, if they do not acknowledge yesterday's young people having a say over themselves?
@valdis12347 @liana_langa I have a better proposal: the number of Saeima deputies depends on the percentage of voters who voted. If 65% vote, then there are 65 deputies. That would make politicians think about the voters.
From@valdis12347@liana_langa I really like the proposal that if 15% are blank envelopes, then 15 seats in the Saeima are empty. Let's be honest, about 50% of deputies do nothing, understand nothing, and just receive a salary and apartment & transport compensation.

@pret_patvaribu @inesevoika That is exactly what Bodānovs personally thanked me for—that at last he could see something else. He had no idea that we have such history, such a museum, such a story, which also intertwines with Ukraine and exhibits with stories from there.
From@pret_patvaribuVery sorry that @inesevoika didn't notice and it doesn't occur to her that this person has enough occupation topics in his own country. In my opinion, @AndrisKulbergs chose the right museum to invite UA guests to, so that he could at least rest his mind and for a moment disconnect from UA occupation and war themes. https://t.co/pafla9vCIo

From@JazepsBaskoNonsense. In European countries where results-based funding is used in service areas where it is practically possible, no collapse has happened. The Netherlands, France, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Austria, etc. use elements of this model. We are not trying to reinvent any wheel here. It is about proven approaches elsewhere in the world. Time for Latvia to step out of the Soviet approach.

From@RomijaAndersone@JazepsBasko @Krista_Baumane @partijaMMN From this it follows that preventive medicine will be completely denied, there will be no opportunity to diagnose diseases early, which is absurd. If a person and a doctor suspect a diagnosis, it will not be possible to check it, because priority will go to those already sick. That is how I understand it.

@Astridamains @aseradens That's right. In my opinion, the Ministry of Education and Science (IzM) is one of the most ineffective ministries out of the 14.
From@Astridamains@guntarsv @aseradens Then the root of the problem should be sought precisely in the Ministry of Education and Science (IZM), because planning is not centralised, given the problems with secondary schools and vocational schools. And it is doubtful that classes of 3 pupils are the norm even in small schools, but there is a school administration in almost every one.

Your mind can't stretch that far — there are countries that collect taxes from companies that sell products and provide services in other countries… well, look at the map, even to the north. E.g. Estonia, where every 5th person works in the public sector compared to our every 3rd, and budget revenues are 2 billion larger with half a million fewer people. An inefficient state? 🤡🤡🤡
From@Gaumigais_joks@Chapis If GDP is 100 and the budget is 50, then it is a more inefficient state compared to one where GDP is 100 but the budget is 20. From GDP, money for the budget can only be obtained through taxes.
