16033From@urotbergsOn the Constitution and genders. At school they taught that gender is determined by the combination of X and Y chromosomes – XX for a woman, XY for a man. Already in the 1950s genetics discovered other chromosome combinations – XXY, XO, XXX, XYY. In other words, there are more than two genders. To include in the Constitution the norm that “there are two genders” means: 1) declaring that Latvia in its existence ignores science and knowledge, 2) that contrary to Article 91 Latvia does not guarantee human rights and the prohibition of discrimination (https://t.co/uGjCFVZxz0) on grounds of gender. I call on voters in the elections to cross out those AS, NA and ZZS deputies who supported the Shlesersite creation of confusion so pleasing to the Kremlin.

From@jautaa_veelVoika, who in the 13th Saeima always voted pro-Kremlin, is pushing herself forward for an exhibition that should be displayed at the Occupation Museum: the Cheka record cards of the fathers of Briškens, Simanovska, Švinka, Bonadara, Kažoks and others, next to their plump faces in the Saeima and other state-funded institutions. Right next to them: Voika's and the entire AttīstībaiPar's votes in defense of Colorado beetles and Russia's orcs. It is a pity that the current management of @okupacijas_muz is afraid to hold exhibitions about collaborators.

From@cresadoSwings between last week's poll (counting decided voters) and the actual results have historically been quite large, in both directions. Including across the 5% barrier. And 2% can also ensure the continuation and development of a particular idea's existence. 0.1pp is ~900 votes. https://t.co/pwojekgp2o https://t.co/rtxByIcYte

From@Astridamains@janisdombrava A low-wage country – that's how it happens. Locals from the regions are forced to leave because they see no way out, the number of jobs is shrinking, there are lots of low-paid job ads, wages are pushed down by Uzbeks and Indians (very possibly working unofficial overtime). Many arrivals who do not work. https://t.co/wdzSZmhRun

From@cepum_sI looked at the election lists and I have a question @uldisdumins @martinsstals. Daģis, unfortunately, does not use X. You were voted in as the change coalition to Jelgava City Council, so why are you on the Saeima election candidate lists?

Electoral systems do not determine a country's political choices. Electoral systems determine how the selection of people's representatives takes place, how regional coverage is formed, and how parties are formed. The Irish model promotes regional coverage, deputies' closeness to voters (fewer deputies in a constituency), and the Irish model makes parties (which aspire to power) larger, with stronger candidates.
From@ErlateJolanta@JazepsBasko How will this system - without an ideological direction - ensure specifically my wishes are represented? Latvia is small, yet you cannot know everyone as close friends (pros & cons). How will it find shy gnomes with ideas similar to mine, if there is no party? Ireland is on the brink of self-destruction, like most... https://t.co/k3VjqplnkH

@ManTaisniba @inesevoika Yes, there was a time when Voika with “Delna” officially supposedly supervised the privatization of Latvian Shipping (supposedly, so that everything would be fair), but Lembergs quietly privatized it under this cover and pocketed it…
From@ManTaisniba@karlis_serzants @inesevoika You are stupid and stupider. But what can you expect from someone who fed from Lembergs' trough.

WE DO NOT WANT MIGRANTS The state is the highest form of a community's self-organisation. A community is characterised by national identity — the Latvian language, culture, borders and history. Through the Constitution we have agreed on a common goal — to endure through the centuries. This is our political framework that must be fulfilled regardless of expediency. Meanwhile, immigration from third-world countries is justified with economic arguments by those who see not a nation, but individuals, or numbers in Excel tables. A state must not be run like a company. Economic logic may be used only insofar as it does not threaten the existence of Latvians.
This month, in “Jurista vārdā” there are two articles about electoral systems. Tālavs Jundzis in a short article defends the Irish model proposed by MMN, while Viola Supe over nine pages technically talks about trees and publications about trees, and does not understand how a forest works. She calls the plus-and-minus system “one of the most successful elements of Latvia’s proportional electoral system”. Such a “successful” element that nowhere else in the civilized world does anyone use this populist virus. I remind you that pluses and minuses are one of the party wreckers. But, well, if this technical publication is the best counterargument from the guild of lawyers to our proposal, then it looks like there is no serious opposition from lawyers to changing the electoral procedure. It must be said that the article has no arguments, only a listing of all sections and a minimal explanation from which little follows, but the reader is expected to infer the uninferable. Also technically the article is not flawless. Two paragraphs about the effective percentage threshold of the current system in regions is fog-blowing with technical calculations that mean absolutely NOTHING. The article calculates that in Latgale the effective percentage threshold this year will be 5.7%. Tell that to the Progressives, who in the 14th Saeima got Latgale candidate Rasimu in with 2.46% for the whole party across the whole region. Latvia’s current electoral system, as Jundzis rightly says in the second article, is the most catastrophic of the proportional ones.
The director of the Occupation Museum called on Kubergs to weigh his words about the museum.
From@VL_TBLNNKNA proposes introducing restrictions on covering faces in public places, strengthening public safety. It would apply, for example, to masks and scarves, providing for exceptions. Similar restrictions already exist in France, Belgium, Denmark, Austria and elsewhere.

@pineconehiller @KalnuLauva @r_freidenfelds Riga gets 38 seats out of 100. I in no way see how Zemgale, Vidzeme and Kurzeme can compensate for Riga, especially after Kulbergs’s surge. Then they need to have 15–20% there.
From@pineconehiller@KalnuLauva @E_Stendzenieks @r_freidenfelds Natural things happen… but in this age group more people enter than die, and there are practically no Pro voters there… the municipal elections are symptomatic… you can’t say they are doing badly outside Riga.
