Latvia's future needs a clear choice in favor of Europe, our security, and democratic values. It is important to do everything possible to ensure that Latvia is not governed by forces that question these values and want to divert Latvia from its European course. I have stood for this direction and will continue to do so. But regarding Andris Sprūds, I have already expressed my position before – the defense minister must be able to make decisions, take responsibility for them, and deliver on what was promised. If that does not happen, the prime minister must make politically difficult decisions and act. That is exactly why I made the decision to dismiss Andris Sprūds. Coalitions change, but my responsibility to the people of Latvia remains. You can listen to the LTV Vidzeme debates here: https://t.co/rmCXAYWwpI

16034MPs reduce the excise duty on fuel and themselves admit that it is too little.
From@Krisjanis_KWell, now they are getting in already within the framework of Operation “Vilkatis”…😎 But the crappy thing here is something else - our incapable MFA hasn't even managed to conclude a single new bilateral repatriation agreement with third countries. So if these beauties aren't flown out across the border right away, they will continue to entertain the residents of Mucenieki and Liepna for a long time…😱

From@EvikaSilinaIn the LTV Vidzeme debates, the question of Christian values also came up. For me, faith first means loving your neighbor, treating a person with respect and not judging them just because they are different. Christian values cannot be invoked only when it is politically convenient to turn against people who seem wrong to you. Quite the opposite – they call for compassion, respect and responsibility for another person.

Burov: cheaper fuel in the winter months will have a significant impact on households
Such a register (although under a different name, probably for lobbyists) also exists in the US. For example, absolutely all NGOs that lobby for a specific policy and at the same time receive foreign funding must register in it. It does not provide for restricting their activities or prohibitions. Latvian citizens too, to whom, for example, the NGO “Zaļā brīvība” advertises the construction of solar or wind parks, should know that these [organisations] receive money from abroad. From those who are then interested in implementing the lobbied policy.
From@Lato_LapsaIn this country everything is moving further and further along Russia's tracks. Look, former “Latvia's Way” minister Uldis Osis is already calling for the introduction of “foreign agent” registries. https://t.co/qkIkZWuFLH

@EAkimovs Exactly what security protocol violation?
From@EAkimovs@AndrisKulbergs If the head of state flies economy class, then each such flight is an elementary security protocol violation and one should not be proud of it.

From@janisdombravaLatvia must not be flooded with cheap foreign labor; we reject the criticism from business organizations. We have heard the concerns of businesses, but Latvia's economic development cannot in the long term be based on the ever-increasing import of labor from third countries. Employers, when planning business development and labor needs, must reconsider their business directions so that business operations are not based on attracting labor from third-country nationals. It is the state's duty to determine how much immigration Latvia can accept and control. Economic interests must be assessed together with national security, social cohesion, and the capacity of internal affairs services. Responding to objections raised by the Foreign Investors Council in Latvia (FICIL), the Confederation of Latvian Employers (LDDK), and the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LTRK) to the proposal to set quotas for employing third-country nationals, Interior Minister Jānis Dombrava rejects the criticism and emphasizes that Latvia's economic development must not be based on the ever-increasing import of cheap labor from third countries. The Ministry of the Interior has submitted to the TAP portal a draft Cabinet regulation based on the Immigration Law provision and the comprehensive immigration restriction plan approved by the government this week, providing for quotas for foreigners entitled to employment in Latvia. The Ministry of the Interior has developed the regulation and initially proposes setting the quota at 2% of Latvia's population, equivalent to this year's level. The quota will later be reviewed based on opinions from competent authorities, taking into account national security risks and the demographic situation. In the comprehensive immigration restriction plan approved by the government, the quota system is one instrument alongside other measures to strengthen control of legal and illegal migration. The Ministry of the Interior continues work on implementing the measures provided for in the comprehensive immigration restriction plan and developing the necessary regulation.

@Tuksumsz @IvarsAuzins @JurgisLiepnieks The most important thing is to do everything so that those who cannot pass the 15% exam would not exist. Children must be taught better.
From@Tuksumsz@IvarsAuzins @pucej When I watched the conversation between @pucej and @JurgisLiepnieks, what I absolutely disagree with was that both accepted that current students who could not and will not be able to pass 15/20% should not be allowed to "go" further. This must not be done under any circumstances. They must be allowed. Will we throw them out onto the street and create a pile of idiots?

From@dacuks_edeneI'm watching the candidate debates in Vidzeme. How is it that Stability's and SV's creations are standing there openly declaring trade and cooperation with Orcland and Bulbashia, but the Latvian parties JKP and ASL are not there. The question arises - which country's Saeima are we electing?

From@andrislovThere is nothing more beautiful in the Latvian political landscape than the classical liberalism preached by @jaunups and @pucej — that lofty ideology promising a free market, freedom of speech, the individual's unlimited flight and... a quick click on the “Block” button as soon as someone from outside asks an inconvenient question. It all started with a desire for deep, almost Socratic debates. Political technology guru and aesthete of grand schemes Jurģis Liepnieks @JurgisLiepnieks publicly shares his opinion: who pays, who to vote for, and how to save the nation. In the background appears businessman Ramoliņš, who without extra poetry or political correctness explains what he thinks about the particular political force and its methods. A citizen steps up and calmly points out: “Listen, these accusations are a bit too serious to just brush off,” and... CLICK! Suddenly silence falls across the screen. The bastion of freedom has lowered an iron curtain. It turns out that, in the understanding of the party “Latvijas attīstībai” and its most fervent defenders, an “open society” is a hermetically sealed room with mirrored walls, in which only those who nod their heads rhythmically are allowed to stay. The free market works flawlessly here: you offer a different opinion, and in return you receive immediate digital deportation. In the end, why waste the expensive brain cells of a political technologist on arguments when the algorithm offers the magical “block” option? That's real efficiency — no comment, no problem, no opposition, the rating immediately seems 100% better. The iron logic is admirable: if someone expresses an opinion from the outside, it's “funny.” If someone writes a retort that it's not all that funny, that's already dangerous. If you can't answer on the merits, pretend this person doesn't exist on the internet at all. Nothing shows “truth and self-confidence” like a panicky fear of a single post. It turns out that a small reminder of what Ramoliņš said is enough for all the liberal plaster to fall off the facade of election slogans, exposing the good old Soviet-style censorship: “Shut up and get out of the frame.” I wasn't blocked by an ordinary user — I have been canonized by Latvia's political PR elite. The greater the nervousness and the faster the blocking reaction caused by a fact, the clearer it becomes that the shot had hit the bullseye. https://t.co/E5Zo1bosJ8
