Today the Saeima majority fell for a dangerous provocation by the Šlesers faction – solving non-existent problems in the style of Kremlin propaganda, dividing society and influencing the judiciary. Even before the vote, from the rostrum I called on the United List to avoid the mistake they made last autumn by allowing themselves to be drawn into the story of denouncing the Istanbul Convention, but to my unpleasant surprise, today too AS deputies not only voted for the Šlesers' provocation, but many AS deputies also shouted claims during the Saeima session that they would support the denunciation of the convention against violence in the next Saeima. On behalf of the @Jauna_Vienotiba faction, I call on @AndrisKulbergs to ensure and publicly confirm what is stipulated in the coalition agreement – not amending the Constitution and not deviating from human rights standards and the independence of the judiciary.

➡️ How to build a more effective public administration without losing the people who ensure its daily work? 🗣️ Edmunds Jurēvics emphasizes that public administration must be modernized, unnecessary bureaucracy reduced, and digital solutions used more widely, but changes must be based on work results and respectful treatment of employees. A public administration employee is not an adversary, but a person who helps ensure the continuity of the state and services to society. 👉🏻 Read Edmunds Jurēvics's opinion piece in more detail: https://t.co/onS1J45fcI

Julia Stepanenko's father, living in Russia, receives a multi-million state contract for defensive structures, after which he sends his daughter more than half a million euros, which she uses to sponsor her election campaign in Latvia. In debates, Julia screams that she will bring back Russian schools and cancel support for Ukraine. This is not corruption, this is direct interference in Latvian elections.

Foreign Minister Baiba Braže (JV) has decided to add Russian citizen Sergei Fedotov to the list of persons non grata for Latvia and to ban him from entering Latvia for an indefinite period – he is the father of Jūlija Stepaņenko, the prime ministerial candidate of the party “Suverēnā vara/Apvienība Jaunlatvieši”.

Latvian democracy is self-destructing. Ukrainians gave us four years with their blood to fix the country's internal and external security. That time has been wasted. The public media and various experts have given the most generous platform to both Rosļikov's party and Stepaņenko of 'Dragon's teeth'. Even Domburs was incredibly gentle when Stepaņenko constantly took offense at legitimate questions. How easily a simple manipulation works: 'How dare you ask us about the parachute that hangs over us and about the cap with the red star?' Before that we heard what fine fellows 'Suverēnā vara' supposedly are, working well with voters. Meanwhile, 'Austošā Saule Latvijai' is excluded from most of the public media's broadcasts, but if we must be mentioned, it is with contemptuous remarks. Russia has scored all possible goals in the information war, and that is entirely the responsibility of this Saeima! You have allowed our democracy to become a 'discussion' between wolves and lambs, looking for 'common denominators'. Meanwhile, those of us who point this out are called radicals, and they don't even invite us to the discussion. 'Austošā Saule Latvijai' has fought against the Kremlinists throughout its entire existence. If necessary, we will continue to do so in street protests and with submissions to institutions that 'do not notice' that the party leader's father produces infrastructure for the army of the Ukrainian occupiers, but transfers the earned benefits to the leader herself. But most effectively we will be able to do this in the Saeima. Your choice is on October 3 - another 4 wasted years or action.

Šuvajev! There are only two genders, MAN and WOMAN! Marriage is a union between a MAN and a WOMAN! Stop messing with Latvia with your invented 117 genders! https://t.co/SBTZBZa8eP

In four years, I have rarely seen such great political cowardice as the United List and the National Alliance showed today. Supported for further review are both Šlesers' latest nightmares in the Constitution and Šlesers' attempts to influence an independent judiciary.

✅ My wife Maija nonetheless managed to find among the deputies two genders - MAN and WOMAN - and convince 40 deputies in the vote that there are only TWO genders. Go to Maija Armaneva's FB profile and watch her speech - IMPRESSIVE 🔥 But in the voting table you can see that not everyone agrees that there are two genders. Some abstain, some do not vote, and a large part chose not to be in the hall. Draw your own conclusions so that on October 3 you know who to vote for! P. S. To be precise about the vote: Saeima voted on including in the agenda the question of submitting the draft law “Amendment to the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia” (1558/Lp14) to committees. Result: 40 FOR, 23 AGAINST, 2 ABSTAIN, 2 DID NOT VOTE. This was not a vote on the final adoption of the amendment. From this vote alone one cannot determine each deputy's views on the number of genders or why 33 deputies do not appear in the voting list.

If the security services have for years allowed people with dual citizenship to operate on the great stage of politics, then one must ask whether the services are interested in protecting the Constitution. I will explain. In a rule-of-law state, society must not engage in vigilante justice. Any normal person whose first and only plan point is not to earn points from hunting enemies assumes that, in the view of the services, everything is more or less normal. So in the political process, all visible participants are legal participants. Defending one's political opponent's rights to freedom of speech, assembly, and political activity in general is the duty of any civilized conservative. The Constitution provides for 100 deputies — with real possibilities of government change (not some empty mandate ballast that will never be given power). Rhetoric by which some legal participant in the political arena is labeled as anti-state is, in the view of a normal democrat, simply the low level of culture and political understanding of the participants in the political arena. But in the end it turns out that the rhetoric is not entirely without basis. And those who have defended democracy turn out to be fools. Because the services do not do their job. Or they do it for someone else's sake. Or they deliberately maintain a dysfunctional system in which it is encouraged to consider it normal that anyone is a state enemy in five minutes.
