Latvia is an important partner for a strong Europe, increasing our resilience and support for Ukraine. That is why I called my Latvian colleague Prime Minister @AndrisKulbergs this afternoon to congratulate him on his election victory last weekend. We looked ahead to next week's European Council and discussed in particular our commitment to a modern and affordable EU budget. A budget that is ready for the future, focused on our priorities: increasing our security, strengthening our competitiveness and managing migration. I look forward to our further cooperation.
If an agreement cannot be reached on a coalition that includes “Latvia First”, party board chairman Ainārs Šlesers stresses that the party will nevertheless give its 17 votes to a minority Cabinet of Ministers formed by Andris Kulbergs, so that AS can implement its programme.
OK, now let's put the dots together. The entire sane Western world is LITERALLY applauding us for throwing Ragozin out. For a long time, Latvia has not earned such recognition. Possibly since the triumph of "Straume". Question: WHO sabotaged the obvious for so many years? And if it is clear that they sabotaged, then ... will anyone be held accountable?
“A government of professionals” sounds to my ears like “a government of cronies”. I’ve been fighting in Ukraine for the third year as part of a drone unit and I think that for Latvia’s scale I am a professional, but our services (not only services) have never and nowhere invited me, because I am not “one of theirs”.

Reviewing budget expenditures allows us to understand which funds can be used more effectively, so ministries have been told—we know what you have “in your stomach”. We can no longer live like during Covid-19, when we simply scooped from the deficit and there was more money than ever https://t.co/SbUI1hyG0r
Nobody should be punished for expressing their opinion. I'm speaking from experience — I've been investigating the Russian security services for 26 years, and I've paid quite a high price for that. It's wrong to expel @leonidragozin for his views from Latvia. https://t.co/STgfmXyWex
Lithuania just offered to pay for a permanent US base on its own soil.
Under 3 million people, buying their own security.
Germany, 84 million: still arguing about what to send.
The countries next to Russia don't need a seminar.
Politician Ainārs Šlesers and his party “Latvia First” are ready to support the minority government of Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (“United List”). Šlesers announced this on Latvian Television, in the programme “What is happening in Latvia?”. https://t.co/TO7z5arc65

"Voters are the same all over the world - everyone looks at their wallets. The state does not affect the economy; the main problem is inflation - food, fuel prices, etc. The voter is united - if he sees that inflation eats away what he has earned, then they all want changes in politics and demand something from the state. Big countries, however, deal with these things differently. In Latvia, the problem is that we cannot influence inflation. We live in an absurd myth - we expect from the state what it cannot do." - economist, advisor to the finance minister @guntarsv#naudascena
From my own experience in committee work, as well as the last two budget-building processes, I can say that @KasparsGorkss is one of the most knowledgeable people on business environment and public administration issues. It is rare that such a high-level former athlete can retrain into such a strong specialist in a completely unrelated field. Given that public administration reform will be one of the three main government priorities, IMO Kaspars is the right man, in the right place, at the right time + also an enviably good orator.. 💪
A thought, maybe even an interesting one. Image, public perception, ability to use social media communication for one's own goals. But what about those real cooperation abilities and grabbing clothes when it is not about one field, but everything possible? Of course, let's wait and see...

Andris Kulbergs' planned changes to state finances mean seriously reviewing public procurement and merging not only ministries but many other institutions, Edgars Tavars claims.
