From@andrissprudsInstead of the Swedish wheeled artillery system 'Archer', which has proven itself in combat in Ukraine, Latvia will be the first to purchase the Czech system 'Morana', which is still in the testing stage. This decision, justified by lower prices and delivery times, raises questions. If price is decisive, then the even cheaper French 'Caesar' should be purchased, which is the choice of Lithuania, Estonia, and the Czech Republic's own army. As for delivery speed, an agreement was previously reached with Sweden that already this year, while Archer manufacturer BAE Systems Bofors would fulfill Latvia's order, a temporary equivalent solution would be provided and training would begin together with Swedish soldiers. Arms acquisitions strengthen strategic partnership between countries. It is in Latvia's interests to maximize cooperation with allies in the Baltic Sea region, especially militarily strong Sweden and Poland. Sweden's decision to send a battalion to Latvia became an important contribution to our security. The intergovernmental defense cooperation roadmap signed in January should further increase Sweden's presence in Latvia. It was planned not only to conduct joint training in the use of artillery systems, but also to host Swedish fighter jets at Lielvārde air base, cooperate in the development of drone and anti-drone technologies, strengthen mutual supply security in cooperation with industry. 🔗 Roadmap: https://t.co/OLjbF9QpzG Strategic foresight is to cooperate with your closest allies in the region.

What won't she dream up at the expense of others?
From@EvikaSilinaI remember myself in the late 1980s, still in Soviet times. The mood around was quite gloomy, but then I heard the words of Māra Zālīte and the rock opera "Lāčplēsis". I believed that Latvia could defeat the Black Knight. And I still believe it today – Latvia can defeat its Black Knight. Today's Latvia is no longer the Latvia it was in the late 1980s. We are a free, strong European state, and much has changed for the better. But one thing has not changed – we need big dreams. One of them is the Latvia and Baltic House in Los Angeles during the Olympic Games. A place where, together with the other two Baltic states, we can show ourselves to the world – our sports, culture, art, business, and our people. It would be an opportunity to carry Latvia's name to the world far beyond the sports field. But a dream alone is not enough. Will is also needed. Athletes have the will to win. Politicians, in turn, have the task of doing their job so that our athletes can get to the Olympic Games and so that Latvia is visible there not only in competitions but also in this Baltic House. Therefore, to those politicians who will have to make these decisions, I wish exactly that – the courage to dream and the will to realize this dream.

Organizing illegal migration is an attack on our national security. 🇱🇻 Russia and Belarus are using the migrant flow as a hybrid warfare tool, overloading Latvia's border guard and security services. Meanwhile, organized crime groups are making thousands of euros from each illegally moved person. That is why we have prepared stricter penalties: ⚖️ up to 12 years in prison for illegally moving people across the border in the most serious cases; ⚖️ harsher liability for aiding illegal stay in Latvia; ⚖️ harsher liability for organizing the abuse of obtaining residence rights. The numbers show the scale of the problem. In 2024, we initiated 103 criminal proceedings for these crimes, and in 2025 already 142. However, the latest @VRS_gov_lv data shows that by mid-September the number has already reached 143 criminal proceedings against 109 individuals. This is growing and internationally organized crime that must be tackled with all the state's might. Operation "Vilkatis" has been launched to strengthen the security of Latvia's eastern border and the ability of state institutions to jointly respond to attempted illegal border crossings and the activities of those involved. So far, 1054 illegal border crossers have been detained during the operation. Video: TV24 "Ziņu TOP" 17.09.
From@jurgen_naudittRats are deserting the sinking ship: As Bloomberg reports, Kremlin officials are moving their relatives out of Russia to safety and setting up offshore accounts—fearing a new mobilization. According to the report, Kremlin officials and conscription authorities are advising friends and family members to leave Russia in the coming months and are looking for ways to move assets abroad. The reason for this is the fear that Putin might announce a new wave of mobilization after the parliamentary elections conclude.

From@janisdombrava❗️In the last two months, as many orders for the forced expulsion of foreigners have been issued as were counted together over the last two years❗️ In the last two months, departure orders have been issued in a volume that in other years is issued over a year. This is only the beginning of work to streamline procedures and introduce order in the country in the field of immigration. So far, the forced expulsion orders carried out are at an unsatisfactory volume. The Border Guard has been tasked with providing an explanation of the problems so far in implementing forced expulsion and a requirement to improve practice so that the decisions taken are effectively implemented.

Latvia needs to involve 'white hackers' in strengthening national cybersecurity. 👨🏼💻 There must be a clear distinction between malicious intrusion and data extortion versus situations where a person discovers a system vulnerability and responsibly reports it. Therefore, work is underway together with other ministries on legislative amendments and a clear procedure for legally discovering and reporting such vulnerabilities. Latvia is a small country, and in the field of cybersecurity we need the knowledge of all capable people. The state's task is to create a system where honest help is used for public safety. From@liana_langaEquality is an illusory idea in whose name millions of people have already been murdered. Despite that, it continues to be proposed. I know that no equality has ever existed, does not exist, and never will exist. #RunāLatviski If only, quoting @ElinaTreija 'equality in poverty' as in the USSR. #SievietesPolitikasVirtuvē

From@IMurniece📣 The National Alliance advocates for the actual liquidation of the SIF, because it is obvious and clear that in its current form the SIF has exhausted itself. ❌️The Society Integration Foundation has generously spent funding, but has brought no integration to our society. Only those who themselves wish to integrate can be integrated into society. That means – learning the state language, genuinely fitting into the Latvian cultural space and information space, understanding Latvia's history and today's realities. That means – becoming a loyal citizen of Latvia. That means – in the hybrid war that Russia and Belarus are waging against us, to side with the Latvian state, not with the aggressor state. That means: if necessary, defending the Latvian state. ‼️Research shows that only about 10% of those Latvian residents whose family language is Russian are ready to militarily defend Latvia if necessary, and only about 18%, when talking about Russia's aggression against Ukraine, side with Ukraine. These data may indicate millions spent, but not achieved results in the field of integration. 📍At the same time, the National Alliance believes that social integration projects, which also receive EU funding, should be continued. A very small institution or agency could continue to do this. #SIF #integration #Ukraine #Latvia @Nacionālā

@PrancansValdis But you can't tear through a hydroelectric dam with drones. The Russians tore through the Kakhovka dam on the Dnipro River by blowing it up from the inside.
From@PrancansValdis@kr_klavins I wonder how many air defense systems cover the Daugava hydroelectric plants… How paralyzed will our country become if a couple of drones break it?
