In the Saeima Budget and Finance (Tax) Committee, deputies found it important before the vote to review the joint Baltic agreement on restricting Russian grain transit. It has been stated publicly that such an agreement between Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia has already been reached. At the committee meeting, when asked to present the relevant document, it turned out that no written agreement exists and that the discussions so far have been oral. This is an important clarification, because a political initiative or a commitment expressed in talks is not the same as an agreed and legally formalized interstate agreement. At the same time, it is very important for Latvia to reach such a joint Baltic agreement as soon as possible. Otherwise, the restrictions will not be effective - Russian grain transit will continue through neighboring countries.

Sources close to the Kremlin say that, after several weeks of consideration over the summer, Russia’s president seems to have chosen to escalate his conflict. What might that entail? https://t.co/CqjTdbYxuS

In Latvia, four years and seven months were given to prepare for Russian drone and missile strikes on our strategic infrastructure - power grids, hospitals, railways. We have very successfully wasted this time. Now, perhaps, we will be able to reap the 'fruits'.

Regarding taxes - logically, they must be paid. It is a matter of self-respect and honor towards oneself and society. But we must remember that national borders have long ceased to exist when we talk about e-residency. Choices can be varied where to base oneself. US companies settle in Ireland, for example.

@CerinsAivis @jautaa_veel @AndrisKulbergs @AlvisHermanis1 @RostovskisA @AndrisBite Accepting such (low IQ, chaotic) migration as a fact is surrender. It should not be regulated post factum, but must be COMPLETELY STOPPED until there is clear regulation, quotas, and full control of the situation. Do you admire those who do not pay taxes🇱🇻 but continue to use infrastructure? Like migrants.

This was at the JV office. We can also move to other parties' offices, because “migration is a problem”, but it would be better to make this choice on 3 October. https://t.co/rz1qdav1oA

Speech at @austsaule protest against mass immigration. “The Latvian state proclaimed on 18 November 1918 was created by uniting the historical Latvian lands and resting on the Latvian nation’s unchangeable will to statehood and its inalienable right of self-determination, in order to guarantee the existence and development of the Latvian nation, its language and culture through the centuries.” From the preamble of the Constitution. The Latvian Constitution is the foundation of all our state's laws. Nothing may contradict it, and politicians must serve the intention expressed in it. The Latvian people now face three issues that directly threaten the Latvian nation, its language and culture – geopolitical threats from Russia, the birth-rate crisis and, thirdly, mass immigration. The geopolitical threat from Russia is not of our making – we can strengthen alliances and our army, and prepare for the worst. The birth-rate crisis is the responsibility of our government – although all Western states face a significant drop in birth rates and none has managed to find comprehensive solutions, nothing justifies our government not seeking solutions at all. Mass immigration, meanwhile, is a unique threat because it is entirely a policy chosen by our government. It is a preventable threat that our government has chosen to place on the shoulders of our people. It is a threat that has countless times shown its economic, social and cultural consequences in other Western countries. “Jaunā Vienotība” has not only seen the rake and decided to step on it, but has even specially ordered this rake from other countries and stepped on it with all its heart and all its inclusive tolerance. In 1968, British conservative politician Enoch Powell made a speech after which his political career was ended. He expressed concerns about immigration and its consequences. At that time, the indigenous people of the British Isles were the absolute majority in their own country – the English situation was many times more favourable than the Latvian situation under Soviet occupation at that time. In Enoch Powell's time, 50,000 immigrants from the third world entered Britain every year – that is the number currently being let into Latvia with residence permits by the “Jaunā Vienotība” government. In 2023, 1.2 million immigrants entered Britain. In Birmingham, where Powell gave his speech, the British natives are currently 42%, and in London 36.8%. Any nation becoming a minority in its native land is a tragedy and always brings suffering. Like in Latvia, the people of Britain never voted for the replacement of their own people – it was imposed on them. The scheme is the same in all countries – first there is talk of temporary labour, then this labour becomes permanent communities, then family reunification takes place, and then left-wing politicians open the floodgates completely to let in millions of third-world inhabitants, citing the need for “diversity”. Parallel communities form that live in a world of values different from Western culture, which includes an increase in terrorism and crime. We must reject at the root the idea of immigration as a solution to the labour question or a source of economic growth. That is like drinking sea water to quench thirst. Moreover, a large part of the professions in which cheap labour is currently being brought in will in a few years already be replaced by artificial intelligence and automation. It is truly strange that people who call themselves modern and progressive have heard nothing about this and insist that, for example, food must be delivered by Indian citizens. It is also strange that people who call themselves leftists and socialists insist on bringing in cheaper labour, which by elementary economic logic means stopping or even reducing wage growth for our own workers. It is, moreover, strange that our feminists write that they feel much safer in “diversity”, when that diversity is made up of people from cultures where a woman is considered her husband's property and where a raped woman is punished for rape. There one really should ask Mr. Freud for advice, because such self-destructiveness is hard to explain with normal political logic. Returning to economics – in Britain, mass immigration since 2001 has cost British taxpayers £15 billion a year. In Sweden and Belgium, the unemployment rate for third-country nationals was respectively 18.2 and 12.4 percentage points higher than for citizens. Dutch researchers have concluded that the total net costs of immigration average about 17 billion euros a year, which in 2016 as a result of the migration crisis reached 32 billion euros. 56% of all social benefits in Norway were paid to immigrants of Asian and African origin. In Sweden, the share of immigrants among recipients of paid social benefits is 58%, and the Swedish Pensions Agency warns that immigration will double state pension costs in the long term. In other words - a welfare system without borders is economic suicide. Europe's native peoples not only gain nothing from immigration – they pay extra for their own replacement, for terrorism and for the sexual exploitation of their girls. The infamous rapist gangs of Rotherham and other small English towns have deliberately, and with great hatred for Christians and white Europeans, sexually abused and tortured thousands of English girls. British authorities tried to conceal these crimes to avoid accusations of racism and incitement to hatred. We are already hearing about the first cases of sexual harassment by immigrants in Latvia. May the “Jaunā Vienotības” politician Stalts forgive us, but we do not find his jokes on 1 April about his party's immigration policy amusing. And, of course, it is true that the majority of Muslims are not terrorists. As long as we are talking about individual persons and model citizens from other cultures, Latvia will cope. But Latvia will not cope with the import of entire nations and cultures, with new communities and “no-go” zones. We cannot pretend and deny facts either. Let Muslims live in peace in their own lands, and we sincerely wish them that. But at its core is one religion whose radical wing fundamentally denies Western cultural values here in Europe – the separation of state and religion, freedom of speech and women's rights. It is a civilisation that throughout history has threatened the existence of European Christian civilisation as such. Only radicals of one religious group have staged several massacres in Europe in recent decades in the name of their God. It is the same religion whose representatives in Britain have much more often chosen to join the “Islamic State” terrorist group than to serve in the British army. Eastern cultures have long memories – we should not live in amnesia and ignore the truths of history and recent politics. When local Muslim community leaders tell us that we simply need to get to know Islam better, we must answer – thank you, we don't want to! We respect you as human beings, we respect everyone's religious feelings, but Latvia must remain Latvian, and that also applies to the streets and public space of our capital. There should be no mosque in Latvia! A century ago, the fathers of the Constitution, when formulating the state's attitude on the question of religious freedom, thought about the relationship between Catholicism and Protestantism in Latvia, not about the situation we are in now, where we must find the answers ourselves. We do not have to leave the fight against the consequences of mass immigration to future generations – we must prevent it now! We do not want controlled immigration, but its stop. We do not want rapist gangs, clashes of criminal groups in the streets, terrorist organisations, bankruptcy of the welfare system and economic decline. Enoch Powell's warnings in Britain were not heeded – in the case of Western Europe it could still be said that it was not known how great a catastrophe mass immigration policy would turn out to be. We have no such excuse. The immigration policy of Evika Siliņa's government is either deliberate evil, stupidity, or both. In any case, this policy is the government's responsibility. And we demand accountability! No to mass immigration! No to Islamisation! For a Latvian Latvia! 📷Juris Rozenbergs, https://t.co/6ZNzOJ1IGl References: https://t.co/sz2eFu647f https://t.co/twN7i02lCn https://t.co/fJaG5gijf8 https://t.co/TbWCwwbMgS https://t.co/RSvv36jweY https://t.co/aY7SDvgbkL https://t.co/oAv4VrtXkL https://t.co/OqOn2zq33D https://t.co/5DneDMRq6y

@VisockisJuris @jautaa_veel @AndrisKulbergs @AlvisHermanis1 @RostovskisA @AndrisBite Juris, I understand what you write. At the same time, it must be understood that LV is a democratic republic, which entails that there is no single truth and that what the leader says does not automatically have the force of law. The ideas you express can only be implemented in a totalitarian regime model, not in a democracy.

@jautaa_veel Armands Puče is a very smart person. This program was possibly created so that we would all see to what extent two kingmakers with their clubs (LDDK, LTRK) influence state policy. How crookedly NGO participation in decision-making goes - skewed and against citizens' interests.

@casparons I am more interested in what NATO's response would be in the case of a drone attack that the Russians would present as a warning. For example, launching 300 drones against one of the NATO countries, even without involvement of ground forces. NATO is still learning drone warfare, in which Ukraine and, unfortunately, Russia are ahead.

@AndrisVelps If Russia attacks NATO, then it signs its own death sentence. But looking at how they fight inside Ukraine, they have already signed that sentence. The only thing that can threaten NATO is nuclear weapons, but smart people say that China will not allow that. NATO also has nuclear states, that must be taken into account when bluffing.

I really hope that in this situation Latvian services have an action plan for the situation if at the Latvia/Russia border point, on the Russian side, a truck going from Latvia is blown up, or in Latvia an Ecolines bus with Russian citizens is blown up. Keeping the border open no longer seems wise.

@DavidsZalans Pulling a sentence from a tweet about a completely different topic and giving it a grain of context is truly unprecedented quality of politics. I have objected and will object to the transport of ru cargo as long as it continues. The government chose its own solution. Whether it works or not, we will see in 2 weeks.

@poznaks If you, as a representative of the United List, do not object to the transport of ru cargo to lv, as the government led by the United List currently does and allows, then you can also say nothing. https://t.co/MC9ElGTuIi

This is serious. What would NATO do in such a case? Would forces be mobilized for an invasion into Russia? Air campaign? Russians would threaten retaliation or is there a plan? Or would they be afraid to 'escalate'?
