22 euros to the landowner, but to the state – thousands of euros for procedures. This kind of bureaucracy must change. Today at the Cabinet of Ministers meeting I specifically asked for the matter of land expropriation in Latvia's eastern border area to be considered separately. These plots of land are needed by the state to expand patrol lanes and build border technological infrastructure. One of the most striking examples – for the property “Atzari”, the state needs only 60 m² of land, for which the owner is to receive 22.36 euros in compensation. However, in order for the state to expropriate these 60 m², it must go through a heavy process – land surveying, property valuation and other procedures are required. As a result, the procedures themselves can cost the state many times more than the compensation paid to the owner, while also delaying the construction of the border infrastructure. Therefore, I called on the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Finance to evaluate which of these procedures are really necessary in cases where the value of the land is small and there is no dispute between the state and the owner. Common sense in public administration must be above bureaucracy. It is not normal to spend several thousand on procedures just to pay a person 22 euros in the end – and in doing so also delay the construction of Latvia's eastern border.

Today is special for me, as amendments to the Consumer Rights Protection Law, which I advanced in the Saeima, come into force; they stipulate that communication with consumers henceforth takes place in the state language. However obvious it may seem, until now the law did not firmly uphold this; now it is established by law.

Ha, ZZS has gone into pre-election hysteria and now offers anything at all. Even things that are illegal. Goal – to promise Lenin's logs to the people. Who doesn't want money for themselves? Everyone does. They offer to drop VAT on fuel. I'm not even talking about the fact that then any budget will fall apart, even while continuing to borrow maximally. Ratings threaten to throw the party out of the Saeima, and then – who cares about the budget? I'm talking about the fact that reducing VAT on fuel is not allowed in the European Union. When the Poles and Spaniards tried, they immediately launched a fiscal violation procedure. They now sadly promise to fix things. But. As some Repše said – well, how can one not promise? 🫠

EM: Reducing VAT on fuel would lower the price by approximately 15 cents per liter https://t.co/sL4iuGvigK

US Bankruptcy Court approves launch of 'airBaltic' financial liability restructuring

This is Latvia and it will never be Russia.

@kr_klavins @Ivars_Abolins @vlogs_flip You are simply lying. Article 4 of the Citizenship Law clearly states: “Latvian citizens, regardless of how they acquired citizenship, are equal in rights and duties.” There is no such thing in Latvian law as the citizen classes you have invented based on ancestry.

Was Latvia occupied by the USSR? Did the USSR deliberately bring in civilian occupiers from its territory to Russify and destroy the Latvian people?

You sound so convincing and knowledgeable in state affairs that surely it won't be hard for you to also point out the legal basis for this claim. I checked, I did not find any 'class' of citizens in Latvian legislation based on their ancestors' origin or time of arrival.

The US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York has approved the start of financial restructuring of Latvia's national airline airBaltic under the Chapter 11 procedure stipulated in US law, as confirmed by Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (AS) after the government's approval. "The next step is to immediately obtain funding to ensure the airline's operations, including employee salaries and fuel," the Prime Minister said.

@Ivars_Abolins @sku_dra Love for the bribe money paid by Russia is immense for many Latvian Saeima deputies.

@sku_dra Yes, it is madness, and today in the commission it went very hard. Love for the Russian language is so deeply ingrained in many that it is hard to believe.

The only offer of the old Unity for the Saeima elections is AGAINST ŠLESERS😂 Unity together with the Progressives built RailBaltica's 'golden piles', 'golden monsters' at the airport, spent money left and right, and as a result of their actions drove AirBaltic to bankruptcy! The list of these 'achievements' is very long! On October 3, there will be the BANKRUPTCY of the old Unity, because voters will draw a thick red line, leaving the old Unity below 5%❗️

Those who entered Latvia illegally with the Russian occupation authorities and their descendants are not Latvian society. They have no place or rights here. This is Latvia and everything here will be in Latvian, while Russian homes are east of Zilupe.

@Ivars_Abolins @vlogs_flip This is exactly where the problem begins, when an official starts thinking that society must adapt to state policy, rather than state policy serving public interests. Article 2 of the Constitution is quite clear. The sovereign power of the Latvian state belongs to the Latvian people.

From January 1, Latvia will no longer have the public media in Russian. Today the responsible Saeima committee decided this, and the final decision will have to be made by the Saeima next Thursday. Content in Russian could only be produced in exceptional cases, and with this, a whole era will come to an end. The division of society on the basis of language at public expense will be stopped. We will stop creating, at our own expense, a parallel information space for Russian-speaking people, in which completely different events are discussed. On the day the historic Constitutional Court ruling was adopted, court chairwoman Irēna Kucina posted on FB that this ruling will henceforth be one of the fundamental rulings of Latvian statehood. And that is exactly how it is. The public media in Russian is a direct consequence of the occupation, and on January 1, 2027, it will finally be ended.

To help voters make a critical and informed choice in the 15th Saeima elections, Latvian Television offers a series of programs “Party in Focus”, which provides a comprehensive insight into party programs and their offerings. Based on SKDS public opinion research data, the series includes political forces that have reached at least 2% support by early August. This Monday, “New Unity” visited the program. #IzvēliesLatvijasNākotni #Vēlēšanas2026

Observation in the summer at a Maxima store (near my place of residence). An elderly Russian lady asked a young man, who worked over the summer at about 17, how much bread costs—in Russian. The young man did not answer, because he clearly did not understand what she was asking and whether she was even addressing him. She tried her 'luck' in Russian three times and got no answer; on the fourth time she asked in perfectly good Latvian. That is mentality, not the low intelligence that russifiers try to pass it off as.

Latvia is becoming more Latvian! THANKS! https://t.co/zjo2P5Ji3d

Already last week, the Ministry of the Interior did everything and offered to review a comprehensive immigration restriction plan at the September 15 Cabinet meeting. The Prime Minister's promise is to review the immigration restriction plan at the September 22 Cabinet meeting. Let's stick to this promise. Latvia needs to act to close the schemes through which immigrants are legalized in Latvia.
