In Kyiv, with Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi ( @KoretskyiUA ), we agreed to continue work to strengthen practical cooperation between Latvia, Lithuania, and Ukraine. 🇱🇻🇱🇹🤝🇺🇦 On Ukraine's path to the European Union, implementing rule-of-law and justice reforms is one of the central tasks that will determine the speed of the accession process. Together with Lithuania's Justice Minister Rita Tamašunienė, we expressed readiness to continue supporting Ukraine's reform implementation, while the cooperation memorandum signed by the Latvian and Ukrainian justice ministries provides a concrete framework for this – sharing Latvia's experience in justice sector reforms. We also discussed necessary solutions to strengthen economic pressure on Russia. We presented Latvia's proposed solutions for restricting Russian grain transit at the Baltic level. Our goal is to prevent Russia from using Baltic transport infrastructure to bolster its export revenues and finance the war. Latvia will continue advancing this issue together with Lithuania and Estonia. With the new Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture Taras Vysotskyi, we agreed to continue work on grain origin control and restricting Russian grain flows. Special attention will also continue to be paid to defense industry cooperation. We agreed on next steps for Latvian and Ukrainian companies to develop and localize defense technology production in Latvia – both for Latvia's and NATO's needs, and to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities. The framework for this cooperation is provided by the Latvian-Ukrainian agreement on defense cooperation signed by Latvia's Prime Minister and Ukraine's President in June. At the same time, we are preparing for a difficult winter in Ukraine. Latvia will continue to provide practical support in areas where it is most needed and coordinate this support with the Ukrainian government. This visit once again confirmed that Latvia-Ukraine cooperation is becoming increasingly practical – we are strengthening Ukraine's ability to defend its country, while also strengthening Latvia's and NATO's security.

Nothing like that happened at Īslīce Culture House. The behavior may have seemed a bit odd, but not such that anyone would call anyone. Later, however, ZZS reportedly had a tent in Bauska - we should find out how that went. I think this was simply a PR mistake, because the gentleman was unable to organize a proactive press statement. If he could film a video that the detained person was not him, then no police would be able to disclose personal data to refute his version. Currently, in many comments I read sympathy from people, so it is not ruled out that we will soon see a press conference where, shedding a tear, the former minister will complain about the heavy workload and stress, having practically not seen his family during the campaign. This emotional message will work in a positive way. After being elected, the Saeima will even let him chair some committee. And after a couple of years, he could hope for government positions. That is, of course, if someone's conscience suddenly doesn't awaken or the exclusion decision was not part of an internal ZZS power redistribution.

Probably the opponents vilely got someone drunk after the debates in Bauska.🤪 https://t.co/qoJi53Flio

Ukraine's path to the European Union requires consistent implementation of rule of law and anti-corruption reforms. 🇺🇦🇪🇺 In Kyiv, together with Olena Kondratiuk, Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, we agreed to continue close cooperation to maintain the pace of reforms, fully utilize the currently open accession negotiation phase, and accelerate Ukraine's path to the European Union. ⚖️ It is especially important now to ensure that the adopted reforms are fully implemented in practice and that the justice institutions maintain their independence and strengthen their capacity. We also discussed the most important ways, in Ukraine's view, to ensure Russia's accountability for international crimes, and the status of establishing a Special Tribunal. A political decision must be followed by practical action. Currently, the detailed funding calculation from the Netherlands is awaited in order to move forward with the practical establishment of the Tribunal. Latvia is ready to join the Expanded Partial Agreement. The Baltic states will continue to coordinate their actions in the European Union to strengthen pressure on Russia, expand restrictive measures, and ensure that the consequences of aggression are not left on Ukraine's shoulders. Latvia will continue to be a practical and reliable partner. Ukraine appreciates that. The Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada expressed readiness to continue sharing Ukraine's experience in crisis preparedness and resilience building. @Ole_Kondratiuk @ua_parliament

Uzulnieks's alcoholism problem is individual. But the institutions that granted Uzulnieks clearance - 1⃣ The State Security Service, which spends €55,166,788 this year, and 2⃣ The Constitution Protection Bureau, which spends €33,082,919 this year - THAT IS OUR PROBLEM. https://t.co/wt83yVt3dF

This morning, information was published about a significant event in the airBaltic financial stabilization process. The airline has initiated a legal protection process in the USA under the Chapter 11 procedure. It is a classic – the most popular method in the aviation industry, through which many well-known airlines have gone. For example, SAS and Norwegian, well-known in Latvia. It is the most expensive of similar processes, but practically the only one that protects companies against aggressive commercial practices from suppliers and creditors. More leverage on the company's side. Funding for the airline to continue flying during the process has been provided by private investors. There is no state money involved. Previously, an alternative path was considered – the earlier announced 257 million loan was part of this option. However, it was felt that lenders were not interested in the airline's future, so in recent weeks this second option was finalized. It worked. The best that is theoretically possible in this situation.

We have taken a significant step to strengthen airBaltic's financial stability and ensure the airline's efficient and sustainable development in the future. As part of this process, airBaltic has voluntarily initiated a financial restructuring, or Chapter 11 process, in the United States – a legally established and internationally recognized process that allows the company to strengthen its financial situation and continue long-term development while maintaining daily operations. The most important thing – nothing changes for our passengers: ✅ All flights operate according to schedule ✅ You can continue to plan your trips, buy tickets, and fly with airBaltic as usual ✅ Purchased tickets and reservations remain valid ✅ No additional action is required Erno Hildēns, President and CEO of airBaltic: "Our task is to continue leading the airline's operations while implementing the changes envisaged in the new business plan. For our passengers, operations continue as usual – the process does not affect their travel experience and is invisible to them – we fly, sell tickets, and plan future flight programs with as much attention to safety and operational reliability. At the same time, we are taking the necessary steps to make airBaltic more efficient and financially sustainable. This process allows us to continue this work while maintaining daily operations and serving our passengers and partners." Our daily work continues without changes – flight schedules and services remain unchanged. Our priority continues to be ensuring a safe and reliable travel experience ✈️ More information: https://t.co/moEfmbNrmP

I feel sorry for all the guntarvītols and other corrupt yappers who until now were breathlessly saying that 257 million at a 25% rate was all fine — now the poor things have to strain again and turn their coats inside out once more. https://t.co/7kBi1EKSVv

My statement on airBaltic Today, airBaltic is initiating financial restructuring in a US court under Chapter 11. This time we are not buying a few more months of life support for the airline. We are beginning to solve problems at their core. It must be admitted that negotiations with bondholders were not progressing. Several investors, who had bought the bonds on the exchange at about 70 percent of their nominal value, were more reliant on airBaltic's liquidation and recovery of pledged assets rather than on restructuring the company. Another loan of up to 257 million euros at an annual rate of 25% was offered. That could provide the company with money for the near term, but would not solve either the previously accumulated debt or the problem of aircraft lease obligations. Therefore, I did not accept this offer as a long-term solution. Chapter 11 is a US court-supervised financial restructuring that allows airBaltic to continue flying while restructuring debts and lease agreements and attracting the financing needed for operations. Simply put, it is a protective shield that gives the company time and legal protection against creditor claims, allowing management to implement a full restructuring plan. This does not yet mean that all of airBaltic's problems are solved. But this is one of the best currently possible solutions to ensure the company's viability and give it the chance to stand on its own feet. For the process, airBaltic has received commitments from financiers to provide 350 million euros in new financing at a 12% rate. International financial market participants such as banks Morgan Stanley, Barclays, and private financiers Hayfin Capital Management, Oaktree Capital, and Strategic Value Partners have expressed readiness to finance. This is a significant and positive signal of trust. At the same time, I have instructed the Ministry of Transport to declassify restricted government documents related to airBaltic, so that the public finally has full information about the decisions made within the company, the use of state money, and the consequences of those decisions. The most important news for passengers is that airBaltic continues operations, the planes continue flying, and purchased tickets remain valid. This is not yet the finish and not a victory statement. But a process that addresses airBaltic's problems at their core has finally begun.
