Second immigrant tunnel found❗️ Over the past day, 109 illegal immigrants were prevented from entering Latvia❗️ In the vicinity of Krāslava city, 28 illegal migrants were detected. During an in-depth inspection of the adjacent territory, border guards found a possible underground tunnel used by illegal migrants. Upon inspection, it was found that 20 meters from the state border, hidden under moss, there is an exit of the tunnel. 28 illegal migrants were prevented from illegally crossing the state border. Examination and photo documentation of the found tunnel continues.

🔎 Now everyone can see which companies continue doing business with Russia and Belarus. 🇱🇻 Following the initiative of JV, a list of Latvian companies that export to or import from the aggressor states is publicly available. It currently contains about 170 companies. https://t.co/4Db9R4EWnU

Russia is a thieves' regime that also rapes and kills children. If in your view that is a good price to keep businesses alive, then we don't need such businesses.

@CerinsAivis Russia is a large market, which is why goods are exported there. That also keeps businesses alive and provides jobs for people.

🇱🇻 Today we mark the day of the full restoration of Latvia's state independence. On 21 August 1991, Latvia adopted the constitutional law on the state status of the Republic of Latvia, concluding the transition period that began on 4 May and restoring our country's independence in full. It was a decisive moment in Latvia's history – the result of courage, perseverance and faith in one's country. Freedom, for which the people of Latvia had fought and which the years of occupation had not been able to erase, once again became the reality of our state. 35 years later, we have our own, free and democratic Latvia – a member state of the European Union and NATO, which decides its own future. That is an enormous value and at the same time our shared responsibility – to protect Latvia's independence, democracy and belonging to free Europe. Thank you to those whose courage and conviction allowed us to regain our country. And thank you to everyone who strengthens it today. Long live Latvia! 🇱🇻

@janisdombrava Were 28 illegal migrants prevented from illegally crossing the border? Or was the image of illegal migrants lined up taken beyond Latvia's border? Are these 28 illegal migrants being taken to detention centers?

Hopefully, the rule of law will be restored. By the way - @Progresivie demanded that the Ministry of Agriculture provide the response it had prepared for the Prosecutor General's Office, refusing to revoke government decisions. There is a book called “Why Nations Fail”. It proves that the reason why some countries are successful and others are not is not racial, religious, or geographical differences. The only reason - how politicians manage institutions. In Latvia, this most responsible task is traditionally entrusted to the unemployed and those who have achieved nothing in life and don't really know how to do anything themselves. Because that's the election system for Latvians - with parties. Then there's no point in complaining and no point in wondering about the result. I talk about this and everything else on tv24 with Armands Puče. (video in comments)

Fantastic pre-election campaign! Every week a dug tunnel is found on Latvia's eastern border, through which illegal refugees enter Latvia. The question arises, why weren't these tunnels found in previous years? There are two versions. Either the progressive Unity's Siliņa and Kariņš governments have been involved in smuggling illegal refugees, or Latvia's eastern border was not guarded!

🧑🏼‍⚖️ Immigration-related cases will now be able to be distributed more evenly among courts throughout Latvia. ✅ The Saeima has adopted in the final reading amendments to the Immigration Law that will allow cases related to detained foreigners to be distributed more evenly among district courts throughout Latvia. Until now, these cases were largely concentrated in the Latgale District Court, creating a disproportionate additional burden. At the Saeima's out-of-town sitting in Latgale, we heard this problem very clearly from court representatives. We did not put this issue aside – we acted, and today the solution has been adopted. This means we will be able to use the capacity of the court system more wisely – if the volume of work increases significantly in one region, part of the cases can be redirected to courts where resources are available. This will help reduce the workload of one court and ensure more timely consideration of other cases as well. 💻 Importantly, the hearing of cases will be possible remotely using video conferencing, so transferring a case to another Latvian court will not require the physical transfer of the detained person to that court, and thus will not create expenses related to bringing the person to court. At the same time, court control, the grounds for detention, and the procedural guarantees of the person remain unchanged. Only the procedure for case distribution changes – so that the court system throughout Latvia can work more efficiently and resiliently. The court system must be sufficiently flexible to use resources where they are most needed at any given moment!
