VDD has detained three saboteurs! The State Security Service has done a very good job - a few days after the incident, three people have been detained in connection with the arson of a technology company in Estonia. Information obtained in the VDD investigation indicates that the malicious arson was carried out in Russia's interests. I am very satisfied with the work done by the VDD in investigating sabotage cases both in Latvia and in our neighboring countries, receiving positive assessment also from Estonian colleagues. Such cases confirm the close daily cooperation of the Baltic states' special services in the context of growing Russian threats. Our state's response to those who act against our national security in the Kremlin's interests is essential - we will come after you! The State Security Service (VDD) on August 16 this year initiated criminal proceedings on suspicion that three Latvian citizens on the night of August 15 committed malicious arson of the building of the defense technology company 'Milrem Robotics' in Estonia. Based on what was established in the investigation, VDD detained two suspected Latvian citizens on August 17, and one on August 18. All detained persons have been remanded in custody as a security measure. Additionally, on the mentioned dates, VDD conducted criminal procedural actions at seven objects related to the persons - residences and vehicles.

Our prepared draft law, which provides for criminal liability for the sexual exploitation of animals, has been submitted to @Saeimas_JK for work. Court practice shows that Article 230 of the Criminal Law cannot always be applied in such cases. A special legal norm is needed that recognizes such acts as criminal. https://t.co/nBvedkCOqO

🎉 Today together with Minister @IIndriksone from @IZM_gov_lv, the Ķengarags and Mežaparks development associations, and the leadership and teachers of @R45vsk, we celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the new Mežaparks elementary school. 🏗️ A year ago we laid the school's foundation with a time capsule together with the children, and today we already see how the idea is turning into a modern school. This will be the first newly built school in Riga since the restoration of Latvia's independence, where 468 students from grades 1 to 6 will study starting in the autumn of 2027. The school will have three parallel classes, with up to 26 students in each. The educational institution is planned to employ approximately 50 teachers and 20 technical staff. Already now, the required number of students has been fully enrolled up to grade 4. 🏫 The school building will be designed as a modern, multifunctional learning environment. Classrooms can be transformed and combined into up to three classroom blocks in a single shared space, creating room for creative activities, workshops, and student projects. 🌳 Special attention is also given to the outdoor space. The school grounds will feature a central courtyard with “green” outdoor classrooms, recreation and quiet rest areas, as well as a vegetable garden with a small greenhouse. The area will also include playgrounds and sports fields, a football field with running tracks and a long jump sector, a multifunctional sports court, play and exercise elements, and 119 bicycle racks. 📸 Riga City Council

Mareks is talking nonsense. Kulbergs and Rinkēvičs also discussed the possibility of leaving access only to journalists. Russia has no reason to occupy Latvia — with such restrictions Latvia itself will become an orchistan. Enjoy the corruption, I only wonder — who will be the wedge when public patience breaks over the covering up of corruption? That's how the Russians fucked up their potential democracy — by staying silent and accepting.

Problem - The country is full of immigrants who commit sexual crimes against women and children. Solution: A) Put the rapists in prison B) Change immigration policy/deport C) Issue a booklet - 'Please don't do that' Which option does a liberal progressive government choose? https://t.co/bZ1HqoLONP

Having looked into the bus station sale story, I can't shake the feeling of déjà vu that something similar has been seen before. I wouldn't be surprised if people linked to Šķēle emerge there in the future, because that café owner really doesn't look like a serious developer…

❓ What is actually being decided today about “airBaltic”? Most important - Saeima today is not deciding on granting new money to “airBaltic”. Today's decision is about whether the state will retain the opportunity to participate in negotiations with “airBaltic” creditors and defend Latvia's interests in the company's restructuring process. The situation is not simple. “airBaltic” has accumulated large debts, and the previously raised expensive bonds have placed a heavy financial burden on the company. Continuing to simply invest taxpayer money is not a solution. But allowing the company to cease operations would also be irresponsible. “airBaltic” connects Latvia with the world, provides jobs, and is an essential part of our economy. Therefore, an opportunity is currently being given to try to sort out the company. For the first time, there is a concrete plan - reduce the debt burden, sort out the company's operations and finances, and then attract a strategic investor. The state cannot and must not in the long term alone maintain the airline. ❗ So what does Saeima decide today? - defer the state's due 18 million euro loan payment; - give the opportunity to restructure existing state claims; - allow the state to participate in bondholder negotiations and be at the table where the future of “airBaltic” is decided. This is not a decision to grant “airBaltic” another 30 million euros. If a specific state financial investment is needed in the future, it will have to be decided separately. The choice now is harsh - do nothing and risk the end of “airBaltic” operations, or use the last opportunity to sort out the company while defending taxpayer interests. The goal is clear - an “airBaltic” that can fly and earn without regular state money injections, and a strategic investor that, together with the state, takes responsibility for the company's future. Latvia needs good connectivity with the world. But Latvian residents should not have to endlessly pay for the airline's losses. #APVIENOTAISSARAKSTS #airBaltic #Saeima #Valdība #AndrisKulbergs

We were told that the Spanish government quickly resolved everything and all the migrants quickly left... https://t.co/0hcQ6HiENC

🇪🇸 Spanish police are conducting a large operation to relocate illegal African migrants from the beach and streets in Ceuta. Local residents are horrified to see thousands of migrants move through the city toward temporary centers and tent camps set up by the authorities. https://t.co/o1htTTDgDv

A motorboat with 14 Algerian male illegal migrants struck a 17-y-old Italian girl at a beach in southern Sardinia. She suffered serious injuries, lost consciousness & risked drowning. The Algerian migrants didn’t stop to help her. She was saved by beachgoers and airlifted to a hospital in life-threatening condition. The migrants are now getting their asylum requests processed and are staying in Italy at the expense of Italian tax-payers. Sometimes illegal migrants cause bodily harm to Europeans before even setting foot on the continent.

@Rajevskis @KNL_LTV1 @lufthansa The only thing causing the nervousness is HOW stupid Valainis is, and HOW incompetent his musings are. The Minister of Economics, after all, still has a month left.

One thing I don't understand is why yesterday in the @KNL_LTV1 discussion the question of @lufthansa's involvement in talks on saving airBaltic caused such nervousness? They are after all shareholders and fleet users, and for Lufthansa to come in, half a billion had to be written off. It seems to me only logical that all shareholders sit at the table and the public at least hears the arguments why Lufthansa does not consider it worthwhile to save airBaltic.

@SolvitaAboltin1 @DievaSuns I know everything, I remember, and I'm not even criticizing you. I'm also not specifically looking for a reason, I'm just about a certain similarity in the process. Taking the opportunity - thank you for that expensive VIP medicine reservation for Unity's flyers.😊

@karlis_serzants @DievaSuns Kārlit, what now? You couldn't find a reason to call me out all this time! You see, you are educated enough to know and remember that I returned to where I entered politics, exactly in the position from which I left! I haven't been the most relevant figure to mention for a long time😂

@edis1250 @toms_salmins Given that according to SKDS surveys it is 'decided' with which political forces they will talk and airtime will be given... one must assume that it is the only official office that tells the truth

@AndrisVelps @toms_salmins The other circumstance - the sample may have had some social group underrepresented or disproportionately represented. How does one find out? Must I accept as sacred truth what Kaktiņš publishes? :)

Instead of used phones, I would have bought the Sodra forests, given LVM a proper spanking, and transferred the state-owned company to the Latvian pension fund, so that pensions are secure. And, if the people want, they can take the pension.
