Swedes know English perfectly. But they won’t switch to it if you address the police with “no understand.” Self-respect. https://t.co/DHlQXlE6rT

Swedish police visiting an African migrant named Robert and his family in their apartment. The first police officer to enter is very friendly toward the African migrant’s young son. 🇸🇪 https://t.co/qFclteKutF

Anecdote. The forest inhabitants want to build a bridge over the river that divides the forest. They have to swim, take risks, and it's uncomfortable. They will go to the village for help. Maybe a loan or other support. The forest king Lauva goes. The villagers order him to the WC. What bridge and what do we have to do with it? Then the sly Fox goes. They see through him, 'You're sly, you're trying to fool us, go to the WC.' A sheep goes. Comes with a caravan, lots of bridge materials and workers, impressive. How so? Very simple. The sheep agreed with sheep. A mega bridge must be built. With a nuance. The bridge will be built parallel to the river. That's how politics works. Democracy.

While everyone is broadly discussing whether or not to invest in AirBaltic, I will just remind that the government is still pressing the gas to the floor, but quietly moving forward to pay almost a billion euros to the Swedish Telia right after the elections for the minority shares in LMT/Tet that are definitely unnecessary for us. The planned transaction amount far exceeds anything AirBaltic needs.

It is good to hear that there are currently talks with two potential investors, but what is the government's plan if there is no such strategic investor, asks Andris Šuvajevs, Saeima deputy (Progressives).

The current airBaltic stabilization plan is based on the consent of private creditors, accusing ZZS of looking for excuses to vote 'against' the proposed solutions, says Transport Minister Rihards Kozlovskis (JV).

Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs reveals that talks on investments in airBaltic could now take place with four serious strategic investors.

Kristaps Krištopans (LPV) reminds that regarding 'airBaltic', not everything that is promised always comes true. Therefore his represented party will vote against the new draft law that would give the government a mandate to participate in stabilizing the company's financial situation.

Viktors Valainis (ZZS) believes that the unused opportunity is increasing Lufthansa's stake in the company, arguing that Lufthansa should invest more in Latvia's airline than the state. Neither the prime minister, nor the company's management, nor Transport Minister Kozlovskis agree with this.

Private bondholders are ready to invest in airBaltic; the government needs a Saeima mandate to decide whether we want it or not, said government leader Andris Kulbergs (AS).

Regarding airBaltic, we do not have many options — do nothing, accept the proposed solution or invest another 600 million euros, estimates Artūrs Butāns, a deputy of the National Alliance.

ZZS is against investing new state money in the implementation of airBaltic's new business plan; Lufthansa has also made a similar decision, says Viktors Valainis, Minister of Economics. At the same time, ZZS is ready to support extending the loan term.

🇷🇺🇪🇺‼️ NATO has reportedly developed a detailed battle plan for stopping a potential Russian invasion of the Baltic states, built around overwhelming long-range firepower, autonomous systems and systematic destruction of Russia’s ability to sustain an offensive. According to BILD, the objective would not be to occupy Russian territory, but to halt Moscow’s advance and weaken its forces as severely as possible. The opening phase would focus on suppressing Russian missile and drone attacks with NATO aircraft, missiles and unmanned systems, while simultaneously striking military infrastructure in Kaliningrad. NATO would then establish an “autonomous zone” along the borders with Russia and Belarus, where Russian advances would be stopped largely by aerial and ground robotic systems rather than a permanent physical presence of allied troops. Subsequent operations would expand against the infrastructure supporting Russia’s war effort, including military bases, airfields, bridges, railways and defense-industrial facilities. The plan reflects how dramatically NATO’s doctrine has evolved since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The alliance is preparing not simply to defend every kilometer of territory with soldiers, but to destroy the logistics, infrastructure and combat systems required for Russia to sustain an invasion. With NATO already implementing its largest eastern-flank defense plans since the Cold War and maintaining substantially more forces at high readiness, Moscow would face a fundamentally different military environment from the one it encountered in Ukraine. It would be important for the state to participate in the process in order to defend its interests as a creditor, bondholder and shareholder, assesses Andrejs Martinovs, chairman of the airBaltic board.
