@saliktengriba @CardinalisRavus The police are completely irresponsible; even though they have the right to drive through red lights using both sound and light signals simultaneously, they must make sure they are seen. Rather than rushing out without seeing what is happening around the corner of a building.

Although PRO desperately tries to “marry” AS with Šlesers, I wouldn't be surprised if they are the first to unite in a common cause with LPV. After all, they are united by love for the Russian language and crossing the thick red lines, as in the case of ZZS, so problems won't arise…

Inside @Valsts_policija there are very big “problems” https://t.co/9hLd01miOy

Good evening @Valsts_policija @janisdombrava! Why did the State Police disseminate information to the media that the VP van drove on a green light? In this video it is evident that the trolleybus was going on a clear green and the only ones responsible for the 9 injured here are the police van. 🤬🤬🤬 https://t.co/fNwB134U7e

I expressed my position on the Prosecutor General's statements regarding the restriction of freedom of speech as soon as I familiarized myself with this announcement.

This is my advice No. 2 on how to act in the Saeima elections.

The Prosecutor General's calls to 'isolate' people and delete opinions as 'disinformation' are a dangerous signal. The line between protecting the state and protecting the ruling elite from criticism is too narrow. Also authoritarian regimes like Russia always use 'security' and 'rule of law' as excuses to silence opposition. It is alarming that today we see similar instruments being adopted in the West - examples from the UK with arrests for social media comments show how the fight against 'disinformation' quickly turns into ideological censorship against justified criticism of the political course (e.g., on immigration). Law enforcement agencies should focus on defending real state interests, not on controlling internet comments for the comfort of the ruling course. Instead of introducing a thought police, the prosecutor's office should finally seriously address state embezzlers - million-dollar scandals and irresponsibility in projects such as Rail Baltica, airBaltic, and the endless state IT procurements. The rule of law must protect taxpayers' money and freedom, not the right to the only 'correct' opinion.

The decision to shoot down the drone was made to prevent harm to Latvia's residents, commented Defense Minister Raivis Melnis. 👇 https://t.co/hPuL7uHrTv

Those are the illegal ones, as well as those who use fake studies at the universities on Lomonosova Street to buy a ticket to Europe at the lowest price in Europe. They care neither about Latvia nor about the culture here. The main thing is political will and the readiness to go against the big employers and the fake-student enablers, for whom this is a business. Everything else is technique, a matter for specialists. Initially, we propose to stop issuing temporary residence permits (TUA) for three years (we have already submitted the initiative to the CEC for signature collection). University accreditation must include the cost of a single student. If the issuance of TUAs continues, then at application the whole family that might later apply for reunification must be listed right away. And that must be taken into account. Golden visas not for 10k investments in your own fake company, but for 1M into the state budget. For universities, accreditation should depend on former students leaving. Companies should have similar responsibility if they cannot bring out their own. And so on. Deportations too. But that is all technique. The main thing is whether we want to do it. MMN is for those who want to stop immigration. Those who do not want to stop it vote for others.

@JazepsBasko 2 questions: 1. Who are the “immigrants who should not be here”? 2. How will you achieve that? .. assuming you will get at least your 5 seats in the Saeima. .. or maybe not, but a promise is a promise, because “the times of irresponsibility in Latvia will be over”?!

Preventable and treatable mortality is an indicator that denotes premature deaths (usually before age 75) that could theoretically have been prevented through public health measures or effective treatment. This indicator is used to assess the effectiveness of a country's health care system and prevention. In Latvia 🇱🇻, preventable and treatable mortality is the highest among the 27 EU 🇪🇺 countries (Eurostat data). In Latvia, the health care system is ineffective and needs to be changed. Health funding must be result-oriented, not process-oriented.

Numbers cannot tell everything that has been done and worked on, and what work is still ongoing. But numbers do tell something. About the second year in the European Parliament. 333 amendments submitted. 37 resolution proposals. 29 speeches in plenary sessions - in debates. Reports and opinions on strengthening the defense industry, banning Russian natural gas imports, and the EU artificial intelligence strategy for trade. Also the defense mini-omnibus regulation - on promoting defense investments. This was the first 'file' (legislative proposal) for which I was rapporteur - I led the work on it from start to reaching a compromise agreement with the EU Council. The second year was a time to pick up pace, with with presence and involvement in votes and committee work. The third year will be a year of results - after all, ahead is the adoption of the multiannual budget with new funds, work on which is already ongoing.

@JazepsBasko @DienaLv That is a very interesting observation. Candidates from the United List gladly take joint photos with MMN candidates, visit each other's campaign tents, chat, etc.

Where this weekend can you check whether Finance Minister Māris Kučinskis is telling fibs in an interview to the court newspaper @DienaLv: “They look so hostile in those pre-election tents.” https://t.co/rEMZwve0MU

Two Eurofighter F-2000s from the Air Force Task Force “Baltic Thunder III” of the #AeronauticaMilitare, engaged in the #NATO air defense mission on the eastern flank of the Alliance, scrambled after a drone violated Latvian airspace. The Italian crews intercepted the unmanned aircraft and shot it down in accordance with Alliance procedures. 🇮🇹 ✈️ A #Difesa of allied skies.

Otherwise, it's hard to call this anything but sabotage.

Here will be the whole truth about unpurchased charges for anti-drone systems during Defense Minister Sprūds' tenure. Yesterday, during my visit to the Sēlija training ground, I spoke directly with an NBS and a 20-year experienced explosives expert. It is unimaginable stupidity to make soldiers manually fill drones with explosives – it requires training every drone operator in the use of explosives and significantly increases the risk to lives.

❗️Reports are circulating in the information space alleging the deaths of servicemembers during Exercise “Baltic Trust 26”. We confirm that this is a coordinated disinformation campaign — no such incident has occurred, and the exercise is proceeding as planned. This is yet another blatant attempt to discredit the Latvian Armed Forces and NATO. #RussiaAlwaysLies From 3 to 14 August, Exercise “Baltic Trust 26” took place at the Sēlija Training Area, bringing together approximately 650 participants from Latvia, other NATO Allies and partner countries, including Ukraine, Australia and Japan. #BalticTrust #disinformation

Migrant instrumentalization is a hybrid warfare instrument and a deliberate provocation against Latvia 🇱🇻 as a border state of the European Union 🇪🇺 and NATO. Today, on 14 August, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed allies and foreign diplomats accredited in Riga about the security situation on the Latvia–Belarus border, including the instrumentalization of illegal migration carried out by the Belarusian regime. Detailed information was provided about the security operation “VILKATIS” launched in Latvia's eastern border region. The information was provided by Colonel A. Zīle, Head of the Crisis Management Centre of the State Chancellery, Colonel A. Kasatkins, Head of the Operational Management Department of the State Border Guard, and Colonel A. Ozols, representative of the National Armed Forces. #MēsEsamNATO Photo: Oskars Kuršs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
