@RitaEvaNa I hope that NA will at least give them some kind of letter of thanks for this publicity.

The fuss stirred up around Dombrava's letter is heavily comical. The wisest thing would be to smoothly switch to some other topic. Now, the further into the woods, the fatter (and beardier) the partisans, and they tell ever greater nonsense.

Tonight at midnight, the first migrant-dug tunnel was found in the Silene border guard section, the interior minister Jānis Dombrava (NA) said at a press conference. The minister noted that in close cooperation between the State Border Guard, the National Armed Forces and the State Police, a group of migrants was found. — Trying to trace more precisely how they entered our country, this hidden tunnel was found, which is currently the first tunnel of its kind in Latvia, — Dombrava said. https://t.co/LL3Id8gfqT

✅ Yes to Bolt bags, no to rich people. And that was Finance Minister Ašeradens, that's why we are in such a Unity mess! We don't need money, everything is perfect for us, we are modest. Vote for Unity, vote for Bolt bags in Riga and all of Latvia! I hope you understood what I meant by this! P.S. The mentioned image was generated using an AI (artificial intelligence) application.

Rich visas? Absolute evil! A golden visa means someone with money, brains, and capital comes and invests, not stands in line at the social service. The Progressives are horrified: 'How can the rich buy a residence permit?!' But when those who will live ten to a room, pee in stairwells, and feed off taxpayers' pockets flow across the border without any checks, then everything is 'humane', 'solidary', and 'modern'. Capital and labor that create value must be attracted, not despised; the state is not a charity that imports poverty.

Previously, media received larger sums from Jelgava City Council and recipients were directly influenced by politicians. Now it is redistributed by an apolitical commission according to regulations, and media compete with their media projects. The Jelgava media support program is a very good support mechanism for media, which does not exist in other municipalities. Clearly, someone knows someone and someone owes someone something, but I do not see how that could influence funding allocation decisions.

Somewhere in the last days JV candidate Karlinskis' newest photo was floating around... well, here it is. In pre-election June, Jelgava City Council has slightly allocated money to media close to it, including the new contender's mother. https://t.co/2AqnAb5PQs

The government must not become a discussion club. We can talk for a long time about the budget, Rail Baltica, NGOs and other topics, but in the end concrete decisions are needed. Read more at https://t.co/p3BvA7G4hn

The 'good Russian' @andrejsmamikins is ready to return to 'sit'. Thanks @ltvzinas @ltvpanorama @TV3zinas @darbainspekcija @LiveRiga @Europarl_EN for the work done! Excellent! I wonder where in the SUPs also your @IljaKozins and other 'good Russians'? https://t.co/HXq6MvP5rx

In case anyone hasn't had a chance to read it yet - given the resonance caused by the letter and the heightened public and political rhetoric, Minister @janisdombrava has decided to make public the letter sent to Spain's Minister of the Interior. This is not common practice - correspondence between officials is not usually published. This time public interest prevails - so I suggest you familiarize yourself and judge for yourselves how justified was the fuss that the LSM segment and a handful of politicians stirred up out of nothing.

PRO rank-and-file members for the second day in one breath are proclaiming that @JanisDombrava is a 'threat to Latvia's security' and that he is unjustifiably 'lecturing Spain,' that they feel 'ashamed on behalf of others' and that any moment now Spain's NATO contingent will leave Latvia. It is precisely their hysterical tone that is why I will comment on this at all. The only difference is that, unlike PRO & co, I have not merely heard of some letter from 'Panorāma's' account without content or references - I know the letter's content and context. First, about the method that must be eradicated from Latvian politics. Every time the adoption of some political decision turns out to be disadvantageous or unpleasant for someone, the same card is played - 'the allies will take offence,' 'the allies will leave.' We heard this when we considered Latvia's withdrawal from the Ottawa Convention - the same characters who today cry over Dombrava's letter to Spain threatened that Canada would reconsider its NATO presence in Latvia. Now - the Spanish. This rhetoric is not any concern for security; it is discrediting allied reliability to score political points - as if our NATO partners were frivolous and capricious dilettantes who determine their commitments to Latvia by how much they like one minister's letter to another minister. If anyone really thinks that about Spain or Canada - that is an insult to them, not to Dombrava. On the content, which none of the shouters has read, yet they know everything well enough to comment. The letter is not an ultimatum and creates no new obligations for Latvia - on the contrary, it expresses solidarity with Spain over the victims in Ceuta, offers technical assistance and the experience Latvia has gained in five years of hybrid war conditions on the Belarusian border. This aligns exactly with what government representatives said in January during the Saeima foreign policy debate: Latvia is ready to share experience within the solidarity mechanism, but we will not accept new migrants and will not pay for them. The letter also names the core of the problem - the legalization of more than half a million illegal migrants in Spain, which Latvia rightly does not consider merely a Spanish internal affair, because the consequences of this decision will affect the entire Schengen area. Latvia has just also joined a letter from 22 EU leaders calling for coordinated action to address this crisis - at the same time as Italy, Finland and Denmark openly demanded Spain's exclusion from the Schengen area. The 22 EU leaders warned about exactly the same thing - that the legalization of illegal migrants has sent a signal that illegal entry can turn into legal residence. By itself, a letter from one EU member state's minister to another country's minister is nothing unusual - interior ministries in Europe regularly communicate and coordinate with each other - that is daily practice, not a scandal. And last. This letter arose on the basis left as a legacy by the previous government - the question of the migrant solidarity mechanism within the EU migration pact, unresolved at the political level for nine months. It is a direct failure of former interior minister Kozlovskis. Most likely in autumn Latvia will have to make payments precisely because Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Spain have not wanted the alternative (technical) support Latvia offered - because this issue was never raised at the political level. Dombrava finally did that with the help of this letter. I will remind that in international diplomacy such mutual working correspondence between officials is not usually published. Unless it has been deliberately politicized or leaked. Here everyone can speculate about the reasons and how this information reached the media. This way PRO will not succeed in washing their own ugliness with the Rasima affair into oblivion.

Put simply (which I am not good at and do not like), 'We Change the Rules' (list No. 2) is about ending irresponsibility. And it starts already at the level of choosing our representatives. Do you want to continue voting for parties whose factions are soon abandoned by free elements after elections? Or maybe we finally start voting for specific people? Both at the Saeima and municipal level. One list with all parties and independent candidates. We rank them in order of preference. Those we do not trust, we do not mark. Very simple and logical. We change the rules. @partijaMMN

One of the ways money is wasted in this project, which has funding of €250,000 of EU money (from our pockets): - foreign partners of the project arrive in Cesvaine - what do you think, whose money covers their travel costs and entertainment program on site? Not from their own pockets. After all, there is EU funding! What mega digital solution achievements does Lab Futura show them: 1) an audio guide 🤯 2) an online tourist route 🤯 3) a map of Cesvaine's hidden treasures 🤯 Some pictures from Lab Futura's FB page that show the heavy NGO work (international experience exchange in Cesvaine!) with money from our pockets.

Moreover, offering a false dilemma - we don't need either 'golden visas' or 'BOLT couriers'. Investments are best attracted by a well-ordered state - lower labor taxes (currently the highest in the Baltics), infrastructure, labor productivity and education. 'Golden visas' is a Šlesers-style idea that opens the door to a real estate price bubble (and accordingly a rising property tax), various schemes with 'Norwegian investors' with Russian surnames, etc.

@normunds_k @esenif Why should anyone listen to something said by a profile with a dog picture? Don't waste letters... I haven't come to please the Kremlin and the progressives. Get used to the fact that I won't be convenient. I am and will be for Latvia and Latvians. From now on, deal with your negations and provocations yourself.

@lindberga22 @esenif If you write on a public forum, be prepared to receive comments about what you wrote. If you are not ready, maybe you'd better not write then. Not to mention going into politics.

Starting today, the illegal immigrant interception operation 'VILKATIS' is being launched, involving border guard, police, armed forces, and service personnel. Purposeful cooperation between @janisdombrava and R.Melnis @AizsardzibasMin. The operation will be coordinated by the KVC (Crisis Management Centre) under my supervision. Together we must demonstrate that we can stop the hybrid attack of 🇷🇺 and 🇧🇾 migrants on our state border. The activities of migrant organisers will be purposefully combated - transport, asylum organisation, coordination. We will ask international allies to stop the global financing model of the network. We will regularly inform the public about progress, every Tuesday after the Cabinet of Ministers. We ask residents to be understanding when encountering greater presence of services and checks. Please do not worry if you see more intensive drone and transport presence in the border area and elsewhere. If you have questions or see suspicious activity - report to 112

Following the initiative of the Prime Minister @AndrisKulbergs, as well as an assessment of the situation in the defence and internal affairs sectors, in order to ensure the security of Latvia's eastern border, a decision has been made to launch the operation 'VILKATIS'. https://t.co/zNrAxaaNc7

Kulberg's dramatic monodramas are, of course, a rather interesting phenomenon in the overall, very gray, political theater. But let us remember that it is precisely AS that is pushing golden visa proposals that promote migration, and it is precisely LVP that are AS's closest potential partners.

how is this letter from English-language standpoint?

Interior Minister Jānis Dombrava (NA) has accused Spain of weakening its migration policy and questioned the European Union's solidarity assistance in a crisis, according to the text of a letter addressed to Spain's Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska. Officials from the Interior Ministry indicate that the letter is to be considered inter-official working correspondence, not a communications material, and called for this context to be taken into account.

I have always been against “golden” visas, which unreasonably inflate real estate prices. Consequently, it is harder or even impossible for young Latvian families to buy their own home. But that is not all—Chinese and Russian billionaires could buy 10 Latvias; outside Latvia there is money in practically unlimited amounts. Foreigners send the cadastral value, and with it the real estate tax, into space. And a Latvian now can not only fail to buy real estate—he cannot pay the real estate tax if he already has property. If politicians want to continue selling golden visas, then the NĪN (property tax) must be abolished for the sole dwelling if it belongs to a citizen of the Republic of Latvia.
