YES to Bolt bags, NO to rich people. And that was Finance Minister Ašeradens, that's why we are in such a Unity mess! We don't need money, everything is perfect for us, we are modest. Vote for Unity, vote for Bolt bags in Riga and all of Latvia! I hope you understood what I meant by this!

Day No. 54 in the prime minister's seat – immigration law, hospital reform, energy, and again the old unresolved issues. Today the day started early with a security meeting on the illegal immigration counteraction plan – we will inform the public tomorrow. It is a very good plan and it will be put into effect immediately. But in parallel, several serious issues are on the government's agenda. 🛂 IMMIGRATION LAW / TUA FOR INVESTORS The President has returned to the Saeima for re-review the amendments to the Immigration Law on temporary residence permits for foreign investors. We must make a clear choice – whether we want to fill the state budget mainly with the help of foreign students working at Bolt/Wolt, or whether we are able to attract wealthy people who invest in Latvia, create companies, buy property and pay taxes. I have repeatedly stressed – 🇱🇻 the foundation of national security is a strong economy. For the economy to grow, we ourselves must be brave enough to make bold and competitive decisions. 🏠 The housing stock deficit exists in practically all regions of Latvia. For example, the Vidzeme hospital lacks qualified medical staff also because people who would be ready to work there simply have nowhere to live. My proposal provides: ➖️ an investor who wishes to receive a TUA in Latvia must provide a much greater economic contribution to the state; ➖️ increase the direct payment to the state budget to €50,000 over five years; ➖️ at the same time, ensure real investments in Latvia's economy; ➖️ in the next step, create an opportunity for these people to become Latvian tax residents, paying a fixed €60,000 tax per year – a kind of Latvian tax “subscription”. 📊 If we could attract 1,000 investors this way: ➡️ €50 million directly to the state budget; ➡️ more than €100 million in investments in Latvia's economy; ➡️ in the case of tax residence, up to another €300 million over five years. Total potential contribution – around half a billion euros in five years. That is a completely different scale. 👶 WORKING PARENTS' BENEFIT In the coalition we agreed on amendments to the Maternity and Sickness Insurance Law (initiated by @Jauna_Vienotiba): ➖️ extend the current arrangement regarding the working parents' benefit; ➖️ give new parents a clear signal that support will also be available in the future; ➖️ the Ministry of Finance is tasked with assessing the financial impact of the decision. 🎓 EDUCATION LAW We agree that the assessment system for learning outcomes must be improved. But trying to introduce significant changes by September 1 – that is simply not realistic. We agreed to convene a separate meeting this week that will be entirely devoted to this issue. ⚡ ENERGY, ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE A new government thematic committee on energy, environment and climate issues will be created, with KEM taking overall supervision. There are many questions and unresolved problems here, so much closer coordination between ministries is needed. 🌬️ K2 VENTUM WIND PARK PROJECT IN PĀVILOSTA Again we are faced with decisions taken, or more precisely not taken and postponed, by previous governments. The situation is legally complicated, and wrong decisions can cost the state many millions of euros. ➖️ KEM must take responsibility for its decisions; ➖️ we asked the ministry to assess the issue much more broadly; ➖️ in a week I expect full information and an assessment of possible consequences. It is the responsibility of both officials and the minister to prevent the state from being drawn into extensive and expensive litigation. 🏥 ZZS OBJECTIONS TO THE HOSPITAL REFORM Here again we encountered a familiar situation. In the government, the hospital reform issue has been reviewed and a decision has been made. I also urge ZZS to familiarize themselves in detail with the real situation in hospitals, patient flows, staff availability and funding. Reform cannot be done only on paper, but it can likewise not be stopped just because change is politically unpopular. 🇱🇻 My principle remains unchanged – the state must be able to make decisions. Not to postpone them endlessly to the next government. KNAB has initiated a review of my visit to Zemgale and Liepāja - my answer: come and check. I honestly combined a work visit to Zemgale and Kurzeme to get to know the situation in agriculture and manufacturing, while also meeting residents as the AS prime ministerial candidate in the next elections. As prime minister, my work is 24/7 and there is no other way than to reach voters without combining it with work. If someone wants to nitpick, you are welcome, I will explain and show everything.

Tomorrow the government will discuss the Rail Baltica project in a closed thematic committee meeting. There are two pieces of news. The good one: the new government, for the first time since its creation on May 29, is finally starting to look at Rail Baltica issues. The bad one: decisions will not be made, and the public will most likely not learn anything, because the meeting will be held in a closed format. A lot has been done over the past year, so this government must not limit itself to empty statements that 'work continues' or, on the contrary, that 'everything is bad.' More than a week ago, an independent assessment was completed, which analyzed three scenarios, the possible scope to be built in the first phase, sources of financing, options to switch or adjust contracts, as well as responsibility for design errors. Information related to national security can be secret, not project management solutions and responsibility for mistakes made. I want the work started during my ministerial mandate on reviewing project solutions, reducing costs, and evaluating mistakes made to be continued.

Put simply (which I am not good at and do not like), 'We Change the Rules' (list No. 2) is about ending irresponsibility. And it starts already at the level of choosing our representatives. Do you want to continue voting for parties whose factions are soon abandoned by free elements after elections? Or maybe we finally start voting for specific people? Both at the Saeima and municipal level. One list with all parties and independent candidates. We rank them in order of preference. Those we do not trust, we do not mark. Very simple and logical. We change the rules. @partijaMMN

If someone connects VK data with UR data and marks delegation agreements, then the real picture can be seen of which NGOs will not survive without state money. Ideally, municipal subsidies would also be added. They are NOT social service providers... https://t.co/q16Vq5DOPG

@Stalts JV is immediately with PRO. https://t.co/A7CCGBGVwv

I'm more about the fact that there are no measurements confirming the JV electorate's desire for a more lenient approach to migration policy. Maybe in part of the Pro electorate such a demand exists, but I think the absolute majority of JV electorate are former PS and JL voters, who are centrist-conservative in this regard.

In recent days, social media have been gripped by great hype! There is active discussion about who will form the new government with whom. “Compromising” photos are also starting to appear. A photo is also being circulated on social media in which the progressive Šuvajevs has wandered into a circle of LPV members. I want to confirm that this photo is genuine, and I really did meet Šuvajevs in Cēsis at the LAMPA festival, where a debate of the leading parties' prime ministerial candidates took place. By the way, Šuvajevs sat next to me in the Saeima for three years when I was a Saeima deputy 🙂 I also want to confess that yesterday on a boat trip attended by Riga City Council deputies, representatives of all parties were riding, including Liāna Langa, Jūlija Stepaņenko, Edgars Bergholds and others, but that does not mean these deputies will form the new coalition! 🙂 I urge all forecasters to calm down, because the elections will take place on October 3, and Latvia's citizens will be the ones who determine which party will be given the greatest support! The fact that JV and ZZS will fight to reach 5% only confirms that the Latvian people want change! I am convinced that LPV will receive enough voter support to form the new government! I also want to confirm that Latvia First will not form the new government with JV, Pro and SV! I hope that the next government will be formed by the two parties that win the Saeima elections, to which voters will have given the greatest trust!

Unfortunately, for now there is no effective solution either in Latvia or the EU. While Russia, Belarus and Morocco only exacerbate this problem and there are still some NGOs that show empathy for refugees, this creates demand for stricter immigration control. In public perception, a strict position is only NA, ASL, SuvV/JL. The image of Unity in society most likely does not associate with any strict stance in the context of immigration.

@martinsstals The mistake is to think that the JV voter has tolerance for migrants. It is a general fatigue of the European indigenous masses, including intellectuals (not leftists), from suicidal long-term and medium-term policy on migration issues.

@guntarsv Wait, but you surely know that the party you run for, and its Saeima education committee chair, also said the same as @Jauna_Vienotiba - 'more time is needed'. Or did that not reach you either, and you just felt like attacking JV this morning? https://t.co/HubLAVPMv0

I will explain the dominant, entrenched political method - it's called let's continue an endless discussion. I see this daily in my work. My counter-method - okay, discuss. I give a few weeks, sometimes even a month. After that, to the Saeima. Otherwise that means an endless process without a result. What has succeeded? For a couple of years they discussed handing supervision of non-bank lenders to the Bank of Latvia. We put an end to it - now it has gone to the Saeima. Application of the investment account regime to crypto assets? Stuck in limbo for a long time. Now in the Saeima. Municipal equalization mechanism? Unfortunately stuck for now. Discussions continue, a bad example is contagious. And this is the crown jewel of tradition. Education has been degrading for decades. Wait, says @Jauna_Vienotiba. We still have to wait, it's not the very end yet. Let's not rush.

Good Morning from Latvia, where public debt has jumped from just 9% of GDP in 2007 to 46.9% today. Yet Latvia remains comfortably below Maastricht’s 60% debt limit, something only 10 of the Eurozone's 21 members currently manage. Even more striking: defense spending is rising to ~5% of GDP, but Moody’s still expects debt to stay below 60%, at ~53% over the coming years. Latvia is rated A3/stable.

We increasingly observe that other forces – both “experienced” system parties and newcomers – diligently look into the “Austošā Saule Latvijai” programme and draw inspiration from our proposed solutions. Starting with promoting the departure of immigrants and dismantling railway tracks at the eastern border, ending with the liquidation of SIF – our uncompromising proposals suddenly begin to appear in the slogans and appeals of other forces. It is pleasant to see that the ASL effect works and we are able to influence the national political agenda even before the elections. However, I have well-founded doubts about whether these forces will at all be able and willing to actually fulfil the promises borrowed from us. The original always differs from the imitation. Others use our ideas for loud headlines, but we have a clear will and determination to actually implement them. If you want to be sure of a true revival of a Latvian Latvia – choose the original! On 3 October, vote for Austošā Saule Latvijai!
