Since February 24, 2022, when Russia began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the absolute majority of Latvian society has managed to agree on what matters. Despite ideological differences and mutual grievances, we set aside trivialities. We agreed that we must help Ukraine both as a state and individually, that we must do our homework on security and defense, and that pro-Russian populism must not be allowed to come to power in Latvia. Today I see something that worries me. Social media algorithms amplify radical views from both sides. People argue about the Sabile festival procession. Others share and support videos of violence against people of other races, or conversely try to justify uncontrolled migration. And after the tragic event in Kurzeme, where a drunken police officer killed a teacher, some rush to blame the entire police force—the thousands of people who risk their lives for our safety every day. Yes, after this event there is reason to be skeptical, and we need to find out whether there are two, three, or more dishonest police officers. But we must not blame all police employees. The discussion about the financing and role of non-governmental organizations has also gone completely off track. We discuss imaginary numbers and fake news, while knowing that NGOs work for the good of society. Until the October 3 Saeima elections, polarization will be a tool of politicians. But, friends, let's not forget what matters. We have one common front: Latvia, democracy, and security. Support for Ukraine is not just solidarity; it is a counterforce to Russian aggression. And our internal unity is our strongest weapon. Let's not let trivialities and emotions do the Kremlin's work. Let's stick together 🇱🇻🇪🇺🇺🇦 Photo: 2014 demonstration against the Russian occupation of part of Ukraine's territory.

Great! Latvian citizens who are in Belarus will need to return to Latvia via Lithuania, which has not closed its border crossing points with Belarus! Or they will have to return to Latvia using smugglers who will continue to bring illegal refugees from third-world countries through Latvia's porous border! Unfortunately, this closure of the border with Belarus is NA's pre-election campaign, which has nothing to do with improving security on the Latvia-Belarus border, because illegal immigrants have never used legal border crossing points!
From@janisdombravaDue to technical reasons, the Latvia-Belarus border is closed. We urge those who have not yet returned to Latvia to use other routes.

From@JazepsBaskoGood evening, Riga residents who like the in-person world! Tomorrow (Saturday, August 1) you will be able to meet me at the Left Bank festival. Our party @partijaMMN will have its own tent at the intersection of Uzvaras Boulevard and Bāriņu Street from 12:00 to 18:00. Come and learn more about our program, share your vision on state governance, on the systemic hotbeds of Latvia's stagnation. At our tent you will be able to get not only a printed pre-election program, but also an ideological notebook. There will also be an opportunity to try out the proposed electoral procedure. I am ready to answer all your questions, especially about how our proposal differs from everything experienced in Latvian politics in recent years. We change the rules — we bring politics back into politics. I will be glad to meet not only complete strangers, but also old classmates, study mates, work colleagues, teachers, lecturers, orienteers, participants of Demos conferences, readers of Kodoka's books, Latvians from England, blog readers, Facebook and Twitter readers, comrades from the COVID times, and everyone else with whom we have had dealings and non-dealings before. If you come with children and they want candies and balloons, they can get them before that at the tents of other parties.

From@J_HermanisIn the last 🇱🇻 Saeima elections, 916 thousand voted, meaning 59.4% turnout (calculated against all eligible voters). However, the lists elected to the Saeima represent only 648 thousand 🟢 or 42% of the eligible voters - because the votes of 268 thousand 🟠 voters (17.4% of the eligible voters) were thrown in the trash 🚮. As can be seen, the portion thrown in the trash 🗑️ 🟠 has tended to increase, and the effectiveness of votes 🟢 is falling 📉.

From@Braze_BaibaThe situation in Ceuta 🇪🇸 is shocking and unacceptable and reminds me of 2015. A strong Spanish response is needed to the massive violations of the European Union's external border. Organized mass migration is a threat to the entire European Union. I am in contact with EU 🇪🇺 colleagues.

This is a war of civilizations. Europe's 'to be or not to be'. The left, for selfish purposes, calls the support of immigration humanism, rejecting the idea of its instrumentalization. Meanwhile, these young Muslim men rape, rob, and kill Europeans. They are the instrument of Europe's destruction.
From@realMaaloufCeuta has a population of 83,000, of which half are male. Half the total population is Muslim. Which means there’s only 4,000 Spanish Christians of fighting age in Ceuta. Yesterday, 80,000 Moroccans, all military-age men, invaded Ceuta. This is a full-scale religious conquest.

The next Saeima must decide on the next head of KNAB. Especially because the State Chancellery currently has no head. The next head's absolutely critical task is to uncover large-scale corruption cases, which, unfortunately, are likely not lacking. https://t.co/6tWUfAaw7V
The left supports such immigration. They will welcome illegal immigrants and even grant them citizenship to increase their own votes. That is the typical tactic of all European leftists - granting easier citizenship or voting rights to increase their influence. And it goes around in circles until sharia courts emerge that will ban the leftists themselves. For us Latvians, it is still possible to avoid such a fate.
From@visegrad24BREAKING: 🇪🇸 Spanish National Police and Guardia Civil unions estimate around 12,000 North Africans crossing per hour, with up to 80,000 possibly already across. A Guardia Civil spokesperson accused the Moroccan government of a proxy attack on Spain. Sánchez’s government still denies any wrongdoing and acts as if it poses no threat to national security.

From@MStakisMany Latvian politicians criticize 🇪🇸, not 🇲🇦, from which the attack on Spain's borders comes. In Latvia, more than 800 Spanish soldiers are currently serving, who together with our armed forces guard Latvian territory. This is the largest Spanish military contingent in the Baltics. When Spain faces attacks using the instrumentalization of illegal migration, some “conservatives” choose not to think about how to support our ally, but to use the situation for political attacks on Spain. Short-sighted. Latvia also faces organized illegal migration pressure on a daily basis and knows well how difficult it is to fight it. Latvia must support its ally.

☝️The majority of Latvia's residents support our idea to create a single Ministry of National Economy, merging the Ministry of Economics, the Ministry of Climate and Energy, as well as the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development, according to @TV3zinas survey results. https://t.co/2CbsFihupP https://t.co/IieHYQso1D
From@MStakisEurope must protect its borders and no illegal migration is permissible. Currently the European Union's obligation is to help Spain resolve this crisis - so that border crossers return to their home country. This is possibly a deliberate Moroccan hybrid operation against Latvia's ally Spain, whose soldiers protect our country. Border crossers have reached Spanish territory in Africa, not continental Europe. Latvia must support Spain, because we ourselves also daily face the instrumentalization of migration.

Ansis, around 800 Spanish soldiers are currently, now, guarding Latvia's land. And you declare that we have no duty to help Spain fight against border crossers? Reading this, I very much hope that foreign affairs never end up in the hands of the National Alliance. https://t.co/ddIckFltkO
From@AnsisPupols⛔️ No, the European Union has no duty to rush to help a country that did not protect its border. The Moroccan invasion of Ceuta is not a natural disaster, it is neither covid nor typhus. It is the result of the work of the Spanish socialist antisemitic government, promising legalization to those who invade the country. The only thing the rest of Europe can do is isolate Spain until the last Moroccan is back home! #Enough
